So I was wondering what everyone thinks the next game is going to revolve around? Personally I'm thinking Qunari-Tevinter war. DAI seemed to resolve a lot of storylines to be fair.

We've been talking about it in that "name DA4" thread of mine; it's drummed up some good conversation, I think. Tevinter is very likely. BioWare's Mike Laidlaw has explicitly stated he wants to go there next, and there have been lots and lots of seeds toward that end. Plans change all the time, so I would never advise anyone treat it as a given, but yeah, it's probable. Hopefully that means Qunari in a major capacity as well. And one way or another,

Tevinter.
They said they wanted to check out Orlais back in 2011, and we got that in inquisition.
So, Tevinter and what have you up north.

Slave rebellion in Tevinter. A successful slave rebellion in Tevinter. With the PC starting out as a slave, being freed and then making contact with an underground freedom movement.

I'm hoping for Seheron.
Contested territory between Tevinter and the Qunari with the Fog Warriors on the side and the locals in the middle sounds like a rich environment for a PC to wade into.

With the PC starting out as a slave
This would be great.
I've always identified more with hard-luck cases. Never been a slave, thank goodness, but I've been a childhood street urchin, I was in and out of orphanages, I was an adolescent vagabond, you-name-it. I need my classic rags-to-riches fiction from Dragon Age.

Could be a bit of a problem though if it's in tevinter. Considering some players might want to be mages and so they wouldn't be slaves.

Mages can be slaves in Tevinter. Fenris' sister, for example, was born into slavery. Even human mages can be kept as slaves, either by being captured in other places, or even--I believe--selling themselves into it (as a means to pay a debt, for example). Edit: Remember when Mage Hawke fought slavers in DA2, and they said, "Try to keep the pretty ones alive"? They would have caught and enslaved the party Mages as well, if they could.
But they do have a better chance of working for their freedom.

Aren't slaves that are found out to be mages automatically freed though?
Could have been that Fenris' sister was freed before it was discovered she manifested as a mage, since Varania mentions that their freedom was Fenris' reward for winning the chance to become Danarius' bodyguard and gaining the lyrium tattoos?
I can't remember if Dorian mentions whether or not this emancipation also extends to the family of those mages or not, but either way, I can't imagine that given all the other horrible things that Danarius did to him, hiding the fact that Fenris was actually free all along would be out-of-character for Danarius?

I guess "in theory but not necessarily" might be the best way to describe it, since the same thing happened with Calpernia.

No, I believe it is Fenris who states that mages can be slaves as well which would make sense. I could be wrong but I am almost certain that someone says it. I'll see if I can track it down.

Strong enough ones would be freed though. Considering the main character is who we are then they'd be strong enough.
Strong in magic that is.

I just reread the wiki on slavery to be sure.
It's a bit vague on this specific issue.

Most likely Tevinter, but I hope we can visit other places too! I want my own ship so I can do real world travel! Also, when Josie described what Antiva looks like, it was so detailed, I can almost see it in a future DA game.

It's the Fenris and Anders banter where Fenris tells Anders that any Magister unwilling to engage in blood magic would quickly become a thrall to a Magister with fewer scruples, perhaps?
Trouble is...becoming a thrall isn't exactly the same as legally becoming a slave, I don't believe.

Yeah, I was reading it and it's extremely vague. I can't remember what Dorian says, talking to him too much before Skyhold used to bug out his personal quest (not sure if they've fixed it) so it's been a while since I've had that convo with him?

Anyway back on topic for a mo' I think it might be difficult to implement Tevinter without something similar to origins considering the widely different lifestyles of mages and non-mages.

There's almost a zero percent chance BioWare will both force you to be a slave AND force you to free them all in a large Empire where they already have an almost zero percent chance of winning. We haven't even been able to play commoner humans yet.

With the recent revelations, a Qunari vs Tevinter war kinda pales in comparison.

If it's going to be set in Tevinter, it would be nice to have a pro-Tevinter option for a change.
