Solas didn't join because he can't get drunk. Otherwise he could have done something potentially stupid, like this:

Honestly, Vivienne, Leliana, and Solas come across as a little more anti-social than everyone else. I'm not sure they'd be interested in a game of cards with everyone. They seem to prefer to keep to themselves than try to be all buddy-buddy with people.
Just my impression.

Varric arranged the game for you because you helped him with his personal quest, but he doesn't just invite the ones only you are friends with (I had high approval with everyone (including Viv) and a romance with Solas), he also invites the ones he is comfortable with, and he states Leliana scares him, Solas is too good a player at those types of games according to Blackwall, and I doubt he and Viv like each other.

Lol Cole is always more Human in my PT. Maybe Solas is mad at that, so he ditches us. ![]()

I make Cole more spirit because my party
And Cole is more happy as spirit. As human he is confused.
Inquisitor: It's probably sad feel others pain.
Cole: What? I know what's wrong and fix it, it's wonderful.

Lol I would have been fine with it, but his last cutscene as a Spirit was just wrong. My Inqusitor should not just walk away from him. I prefer when she joins him and he thanks her if you make him Human. I do like when he jokes with her at the party about making her forget. It shows he's still "Cole" no matter what choice you make. And he does end up happy as a human too, but it takes a bit longer. As a Spirit he is freed quickly. Both are good, but the Inquistor's reaction is what bothered me.
@Urzon: Ahh, yeah - Varric and I didn't get along.

Don't start on this. I play as mage and Solas best friend. I hate how ignorant inquisitor is related to spirits.

Ah you feel the same. Good to know. ![]()
Vivienne wouldn't dream of slumming it with the natives. Had it been arranged in her boudoir that might have been different. I don't think Varric would want her anyway.
Leliana would probably be too good at it and in any case was there by proxy through Josephine. Leliana was probably off in the shadows watching everyone's interactions.
Solas probably wouldn't want to get involved with such a large group in case he was put on the spot by someone and couldn't wriggle out of an answer like he usually does with everyone watching. Playing Blackwall, or anyone, as a duo would be a different matter.
In my first game I didn't actually get this scene until after the epilogue. It seemed to fit so perfectly that dear Varric would arrange the card party to try and help my poor girl forget her broken heart after Solas left. Cassandra was there, even though she was Divine elect, but Vivienne was probably sulking and Leliana off repenting of her sins to the Maker because to her clearly that is why she didn't get appointed (she had murdered that sister after all).
Vivienne: Sit down at a table with Blackwall and Cole? Please, darling, don't be absurd.
Leliana is a lot more aloof than she has been previously. I doubt she'd go even if Varric invited her.
Solas prefers to interact with people in the Fade, so that would make a card game challenging.
Hey, thanks for making a thread about this!
Without it, it's very likely I would never have encountered the Wicked Grace scene because Varric tends to fall by the wayside in my game, sad to say. I think the farthest I ever got with him was 'Well, ****..' and assumed that was probably it for him. That was a neat little scene, glad I didn't miss out on it. ![]()
I think Leliana has too many secrets to make a card game fun. I don't imagine a person whose job is deception and risk would enjoy cards much. She's a bejeweled blitz or angry birds kind of gamer if there ever was one. Solas is a good player, but he really just can't look at things the same way as Varric, and I doubt he was invited. I can see him painstakingly solving one of those impossible newspaper puzzles or something. Vivienne wasn't invited either, but she wouldn't have enjoyed the company. Just as well, or Cullen wouldn't be the only one doing the dash of shame. She would play very well. Nobody would want Morrigan there, since either she can see the cards, or doesn't care, or mocks the people who set her off. It would have also presented timeline problems if the game occurred before Wicked Eyes. Of all people to wind up under the table for Cullen, the oppurtunity was so wasted on Sera. Just sayin'.
@9TailsFox--I adore your gif and the choice of participants is really inspired. Is Cass pulling them apart or throwing them together?
they're too good at deception to play. Even Blackwall warns you to not play with that elf

Just replace Sera with Isabella.... That's all I'm saying...
Sera is sometimes drunk under the table, not sure if her appearance is approval/quest or not.
It's not, I think. I recruited her and just finished the first tier of her quests and nothing else after that (didn't talk to her further). She still appears under the table.
Saw a video of Leliana playing that board game with Cullen.
Yeah I wouldn't play cards with her either ![]()
I have also never had Blackwall in the group in my game. Does he show up based on approval or not at all?

You know Isabela usually goes commando right... I mean sure Bioware has grown up what with the Cassandra romance scene but that shot of Sera replaced with Isabela would be too much.
Oh man forgot to type Viv there too. I guess I expected this more from her though, though I would of loved it had she been there too. Out of Josie, Solas, Leliana, and Viv, wonder who would of won.

It's apparently based on approval, since I had Blackwall at the table. The only fixed no-shows are Vivienne and Solas.
well i bet Solas's response would have been.

I would see Solas more as a MTG player myself. Probably would run something annoying too, like UG Hexproof, that bastard.
