About whether a character is, say, beautiful or not. About whether a character has a quality or not.
You cannot force your audience to love a certain character or find a certain character attractive or a 'real woman,' no matter how much you want it, and that's the end of it. And if your audience feels you're trying to lie to them, they lose faith in you and stop buying your product.

I can think of some people who's business they'd like to lose.

There's no thought process. Obvious troll is obvious.

Don't think so. He would have to be the most dedicated troll in the history of the internet. He's been around for a really, really long time, espousing basically the same opinion.

Scary as it may sound, he is completely serious.

By the Old Gods, I was beyond wrong. This isn't nearly enough popcorn.

And now I regret buying that bag of popcorn I passed on today... Should we start raiding the corn fields now?

Please tell me this is sarcasm. I have so little faith in humanity as it is. D:

This was a big deal post release.  A lot of people were saying that.  It's not something that really effects me, but oh yes that was real.  I think people are "over it" now, but they definitely felt neglected.

A betrayal to what?

I'm honestly trying to figure out your thought process

A betrayal to those qualities and the people who have them. When people claim an ugly character is equal to a beautiful one, it's a betrayal of beauty. It's a betrayal of the value it has. It's a claim that it's worthless.

Most of all, it's a betrayal of yourself. As hypocrisy always is.

Actually, a large number of a group of people not being straight isn't uncommon at all. Regardless...

"It feels weird and not real" Yeah, uh.... so? Why are your feelings more important than those of the LGBT community? Why are your feelings an acceptable reason to exclude people from certain content?

They aren't. If the creator doesn't care what I think then fine. They can do what they want.

Sadly I've seen it happen too, my main response was definitely laughter though :P

I have a hard time wrapping my head around the kind of paranoia that leads you to believe Bioware is actively trying to screw you over. But their thought process seems to go along these lines, I think: I don't like my options, and other people have more options than ever; therefore both things must somehow be related. Never mind that, even if the former wasn't completely subjective, correlation does not imply causation.

...I don't think Bioware wants to screw me over . Were you referring to the person I quoted?

Arrgh, that's even worse. :(

Oh, I know what they said. It just doesn't make any sense. When the world caters to you, you're not being neglected.

Values are not uniform from person to person. Beauty is a subjective concept.

Other people are going to have different values from yours. That doesn't make yours or theirs worthless. Other people mind find beauty in places you wouldn't. That doesn't make them wrong, or liars.

Wow.
Your idea of fiction is boring as hell.Plus I think Twilight covered most of that "x people don't get that" argument.

Oh? Is there some epic fantasy or science fiction series or whatever that features primarily average or ugly characters that I don't know about?

You're absolutely hilarious. That's about the only value your arguments hold, but at least it gave me a chuckle.

To some extent. But nevertheless irrefutable trends emerge, do they not?

Characters with smooth, glowing skin. White, even teeth. Silky hair. Who dress In well fitted clothing and speak clearly and eloquently. Who are in excellent physical shape. Surely you wouldn't deny these things?

Aesthetics are subjective.
