Neat interview, though I'm disappointed that Krem's tendency to stand on his chair wasn't addressed.
I assumed it was some kind of Tevinter drinking ritual.
I found this thread hilarious, also Ironic that bunch of dudes which have naked mans in their avatar will ****** so much about this...

Or he just feels inferior because his boss is huge. If Krem stands on a chair, they might be about the same height. ![]()
And I get the feeling that having an affair (or several) while married wouldn't be a problem for Tevinter high society if the people involved were straight.
It's not a problem in Tevinter regardless of sexual orientation. There's always slaves, you know. Just keep it on that level and nobody bats an eye.

They also don't appreciate the strong homoerotic undertone of their forum being pointed out just as a general fyi.
tbh it was much weirder in DA:2 where random npcs no matter which race or gender tried to bed me but still too much emphasize on awkward 2 minutes cutscenes without any nudity or in depth something.
iirc in BG2 for example, you could have a kid with the winged elf or something... or in NWN:HOTU you could romance aribeth to convince her to side with you at the final battle...
here it's more meh awkward scene... too much hassle.

David's assertion about this aspect affecting sales is off base. Of course it's not going to affect sales when you offer choices in this area. He really over thinks the issue.

Seems about par for the course for that site. What a bunch of wieners, using ph instead of f.
I mean if it were discovered. A heterosexual affair would get a nod and a wink. As for slaves, that's more sex and less love. I don't see Dorian going that route.
WoT states that Dorian frequented elven whorehouses for months. In dialogue with Sera Dorian admits that she's the first free elf he met. Shall I continue?

Dorian is one of my favourite companions from the game (with Cassandra) but I wasn't a fan of his quest
it came off as preachy, there was no need to make it all about his sexuality
Don't get me started on Krem, absolutely hated his dialogue and Iron Bulls response too

I don't own WoT, and generally speaking when going to a whorehouse, you're paying for the pleasure and not in a relationship.
As I said, we're not talking about sex but love.
Then which route that Dorian wouldn't go did you have in mind? I thought you were talking about him using slaves for pleasure, was I wrong?

I want to grab a needle and start popping them muscles...
It wasn't all about his sexuality
it mostly was, I'm not overly against it, but I was rolling my eyes when his companion mission was about daddy issues over being gay

This is my much bigger complaint
It came across as a way to avoid the implications of the Qunari's strict "give zero sh*ts about individual thought" as applied to sexuality, becuase otherwise it might offend people, and Maker forbid a BioWare game be offensive in some way

yes so much this.
his dad tried blood magic in order to make him straight.
*facepalm*
some quest in this game are just .... stupid.
Can we please go back to having actual deep, story-driven, intriguing RPGs that had a pleasent side-dish of romance, instead of getting an RPG seemingly about romance, sexuality, diversity, and political correctness with a side-dish of story and gameplay?
Hmm... why is Bioware not thinking about actually making a dating-sim? There is a large crowd that goes nuts for the stuff.
It will also be the perfect platform for preaching about everything mentioned above.
Maybe then the RPG genre can be free to be more about player choices and grey morality. Because after all, Bioware's games are for adults, right?...
It's so sad the world doesn't see this. It's like the only women men MUST find sexually unattractive are so hideous they're part troll.
I find all of the pandering to the different minority crowds atrocious. It's like those really bad "diverse" Marvel heroes back in the 70's. Sera was at least downplayed about it, it never came up unless you tried to romance her (and since I never did, I could be free to judge her on her own merits.) Krem was the same way, I could ignore it and move on (And you know what, despite being a small character, I liked Krem without any of that BS. The flavor text on the missions was actually fun). Whereas if I played Dorian's quest, I had to sift through several scenes of "I'm gay, Daddy!"
No nuance, no subtlety. It felt like it was abandoning the one thing that might actually be done well (the way he feels about Tevinter) and just shoveling down the wrong way.
Those characters weren't bad because they were minorities they were bad because they were ethnic stereotypes written by white dudes.

Skimming through the thread when I stumble upon this:
"What is even more baffling is that you COULD in DA:O. I romanced her in the first game, Isabela in the 2nd game and despite importing my character into Inquisition, I'm introduced to Leliana as if we've never met before.
Bioware Y U DO DIS."
And then this:
Someone else's reply: "The inquisitor has never met her before. If you keep playing the game, the hero of ferelden (DA:O) is referenced later on and she dedicates an entire conversation to him/her if you imported from the Keep.
"I just read the wiki page on Leliana and realized this now.
Sucks... No wonder everyone is treating me like a stranger."
This guy didn't even realise he wasn't playing the same character from origins (or even DA2)... I can't even-- x"D
The average IQ on that thread is worse than a potato, I swear.

I think the forum tends to overplay the actual amount of romance-specific content you really get in this game. There's certainly a lot of companion content (non-romantic), but that's been the case for pretty much all of their games in both DA and ME.
yes so much this.

I didn't think it was stupid. The "blood magic the gay away" device was only the surface of the Dorian's quest.
The actual gist of the story was about a son being betrayed by his father, and how they eventually reconciled (or didn't).
