You have shocked me.
Why is that? Didn't expect him to be an Isabella fan?

He detests Isabela.
I could believe he likes giving her to the Arishok after romancing her, but I thought he hated Qunari more, so...

He does? I've never seen a post of him talking about her? Maybe his hate for her is just part of his exaggerated BSN persona and that was his real opinion about her
.
Alistair.
I know i said Alistair was my favourite romance so far. but just did the first kiss with Cullen and it was to awkward but so perfect, my heart skipped a beat. *sigh* ![]()
Hmm...
For males: either Alistair or Fenris friendmanced by a Mage. Both were sweet in different ways.
For females: Cassandra, no contest
Lavellan/Sera is my favorite romance, followed closely by FemHawke/Merrill/Isabela (and I don't care that the game makes you choose only one of them, my Hawke ended up with both, dangit), and then Elf Mage/Leliana.
You have shocked me.
I like three romances: Morrigan, Liliana and Cassandra. In that order. I would have liked Isabela, but the likelihood of my char dying from an STD doesn't seem very heroic. I tried to like Sera, but there is no growth to her character, she stays one dimensional.
Zevran
I like Leliana's the best, although Alistair, Morrigan, Cassandra, Merrill, and Cullen are really good. Josephine's needed just a spoonful more spice. Isabela and Zevran were great characters that were better when not romanced.
I imagine that if DAA had romance, it'd be DA's first to include the gated variety, since Valenna would likely be an option too, but I couldn't imagine her even giving a shem the time of day.
Well..... she seemed eager to give Nathaniel a lot more than the time of day so...........
Anyway may favorite romance would have to be Isabela, she starts off as a really shallow 2D character, and gradually begins to show emotion and depth, especially if you romance her. I like how beneath her selfish, hedonistic exterior, there's someone deep down inside that just wants to be loved but is terrified of committing to a relationship, because she's been failed by nearly everyone who was supposed to care about her. In the end I found her romance to be one of the most unique and least cliche in the series.
I admittedly have a lot of catching up to do in the romance department but of my canon romances my favorite would have to be Morrigan if only just because the romance system in DA:O was far more involved and dynamic than the systems in either DA2 or DA:I...Dorian's a$$ tho...
Zevran
My elf mage romance with Cullen could have been great, considering all that Cullen went through with my mages in the other games, but it was just too easy - not enough sexual tension, and we didn't get to spend enough time together.
I liked Alistair's and was pleasantly surprised to find myself falling for such a dork.
I've only done one playthrough of DAI, so shall have to reserve judgement on Solas, Dorian and The Iron Bull.
Cassandra and Bull.
Together or separately?
Jumping aboard the Zevran train, choo choo.
I was a big fan of Alistair's romance when I first played through DA:O because he's *completely* adorable, but playing through a female protagonist as his friend is a reminder of his flaws - he's petty, vengeful, and his hatred of Morrigan is so genuine and scary. Also, I get annoyed at how often I accidentally trip over his romance triggers in conversation - they're everywhere.
Zevran, in contrast, is 100% the best companion, great fun, sassy, funny, supportive, all-around amazing friend. If my wardens keep him alive (which they don't always do), I imagine they always end up life companions and he'll stick with them until the end. His romance reveals a great amount of depth and strength of character which is immensely enjoyable to play through.
In general, DA:O romances > DA2 romances. Haven't played through DA:I enough to judge there (I'm a bit of a completionist).
I liked (in no paticular order, save for game order) Leliana, Alistair, Morrigan, Merril, Isabela, Sera, and Cassandra
Despite not liking DA2 much, I did like romancing Anders and I felt it added more context to his circumstances and to the story itself, especially as a rivalmance. I'd say he was my favorite, and the one I cared about the most. I still killed him because he (well, Justice) made me so incredibly mad (which I'm not sure I would have done had I not been in a romance with him).
Second, The Iron Bull... but I didn't save the Chargers and at the end it sounds like he's going to leave you soon and does not care that much about the relationship... which was very unsatisfactory because I liked that romance a lot. Ohhh, Bull, you player. Bet you call just anyone "kadan" ![]()
My Lady Cousland and Leliana is easily my favourite. I always play my canon character on subsequent playthroughs, and Morrigan don't like the ladies sadly.
I was glad though - Leliana's romance was quite sweet once you got deeper into her background with Marjolaine. I just love the two of them together. And despite the lack of HoF probably ever again in the series, Leliana's reminiscing in Inquisition was satisfying. They're on a tie with FemShep/Liara for my absolute favourite game romance. ![]()
That being said, I also love and actually related more to my cheeky FemHawke/Isabela romance. Jedi Master put it well:
Isabela herself is not my favorite romance option in Dragon Age, but I feel like playing this combination might actually be result in perhaps the best romantic chemistry I've ever seen in a video game couple.
The chemistry was undeniable. I know a lot of people don't like Isabela and write her off as a ***** and what have you, but there's actually a lot of personal growth in that romance I think. I relate to the commitment issues she has (though my "love" life is far less, er, active.
). The dialogue when she finally confesses her feelings was excellent. Also her VA really brought her A-Game to that scene IMO. Overall their romance has the most development - but then DA2 kind of has that in all its story arcs and relationships, given the timespan.
Cassandra for me. I think she's a brilliantly written character.
I've only done Zevran, Leliana, Alistair, Fenris, Isabela, Anders, Dorian, Bull, and Blackwall. I'd rank them:
Dorian >>>> Anders (for drama's sake) > Isabela > Blackwall > Bull > Fenris >>> Leliana > Alistair >>>>>>> Zevran
I'm torn between Solas and Alistair.
Alistair's personality is not usually one that I would normally find attractive, but his romance is so sweet and, well, romantic. I felt totally swept off my feet when playing that romance.
Solas... is the total opposite. His character is incredibly compelling, and I fall madly in love with him every time he speaks, but the romance... well, leaves much to be desired, to say the least.
