Why was anybody expecting more options?
Although they never addressed that when discussing the BE, a lot of people, myself included, were hoping that perhaps the delay was due in part to extra features being implemented. Foolish, I know, but seeing as it was something that had been requested so heavily, it seems odd that Bioware hasn't made mention of it at all. I suppose I, personally, was hoping it'd be a nice little surprise from Bioware. Guess not (yet? I can be optimistic).

Why were you expecting new customisation options? Thete was literally zero evidence for that.
You could just as easily believed that Mike Laidlaw was a rhinoceros from the future.

It may not have new hairstyles but it does have a cute little bear named "Chauncey" that makes me say in a Silly Voice... "Nice little puppy. Yes, you are. Oh yes, you are. There's my little snootsy poops."
Oh, and the stores that sells schematics and most if not all of the crafting metals is a bonus as well.
Not bad for a FREE dlc ![]()

Ha!
I'd be grateful if the spanking newly installed BE DLC will show up somewhere in the War Table. You'd think it came with instructions on how to trigger its appearance.

I have those sort of expectations about gameplay and combat in Dragon Age.

Oh.. I don't know... the supposed fact that Bio is reading the Feeback thread and read "give me more hairstyles" or the word "armours" more than once?
Nope, that's too much to expect. However, they did go out of their way to spend time and resources on maintaining the DAI artistic themes with the DLC. And, that folks, is called prioritizing what is neccessary from the mundane or even throwing us a bone.

I had a few expectations but readied myself for nothing new. So, unsurprised at their total failure to throw in a bone or two.
Try the free Path of Exile MMO... a true RPG with gritty bloody theme and wonderful PC controls, inventory as it should be, armours and weapons galore.. etc. Heck, you can play the game with just a multi-button mouse. and, Oh, you wont have time to make coffee when loading a new zone. LOL!

Nor did I ever say it was...?
However, seeing as it's been such a large issue for so many people, I think it's not unreasonable to assume some form of communication from the devs. Is it optimistic of me to think that perhaps because they've kept largely silent, they may have had a plan to surprise us? Absolutely. As it is now, I'm not sure what the devs are thinking. Are they ignoring the requests? Is it something they're still figuring out how to implement? Are they planning to sell it as a DLC? The thing is, I, and many others, don't know. So if we come to conclusions, it's because nothing has been offered by means of explanation. Is it foolish? I believe I already answered that in my first post.
And no, I couldn't, because on that note there's more coverage about who Mike Laidlaw is than there has yet to be on what their plans may or may not be for implementing new customization options.

At least YOUR Black Emporium works. Some people can almost get to the War Room (if very patient) only to find it's a dead-end one-way street essentially killing further play (PS4).
No help here nor is EA Support providing 'support.' However, they courteously emailed me a fine thank you for using chat support, then closed the ticket...
At least for the PC there's the possibility some talented users will make the necessary mods to fix the various problems with the game. Although since EA killed the idea of a toolkit, that's less likely now.
Some day, years from now, I expect to find the PC version of DA:I available on GOG, fixed and without DRM, along with it's older BioWare siblings like Baldur's Gate.
So, yes, the Black Emporium is a massive disappointment.

It's totally unreasonable to think a free DLC will have content that's never been advertised, suggested, hinted at or even implied.

That's what people on these forums do though, they get an idea into their head and when reality doesn't match get enraged.

Let's just all presume that NEW STUFF are ALWAYS included ONLY in PAID DLCs, shall we? And then we shall be happy.

for me it wasn't even the lack of new assist being added to the mirror, but just a simple facecode mechanic or copy and paste/save existing character face over a given preset would have been nice. Heck i know it can be done, because Skyrim mods are full of this kind of thing, so essentially are we are asking them to do is build a mod

Did I say it wasn't? I said it's not unreasonable to expect some form of communication. Which we haven't gotten. I also said that that's likely where the erroneous conclusions are being drawn from. I also said that while foolish, the lack of communication is why people begin to draw conclusions where none exist. I'm not just talking about BE here. BE delivered on what was promised, nothing more, nothing less. But Bioware has said nothing in regards to the issues people have with the lack of certain customization options. No one knows what to expect on that front, so random conclusions, reasonable or not, get drawn.

You did get communication. They didn't market the feature. They didn't imply it. They didn't suggest it. They didn't hint at it. Bioware also didn't market that the BE would allow you to swap gender, have a Cathar as a PC, and introduce five new classes, one of which was Adept from ME1.

The mirror of transformation isn't for new options. It's to change things about your character you didn't like. I made one of my character's chins to short so I changed it with the mirror. And you can make hornless qunari and they look fine. The only problem I have with hornless qunari is that you only have like two hair styles if you have a female character.

Did people seriously think there would be gender swapping? I have only played a total of one rpg that gives you an option to swap sexes and that is at the very end of the game and you only have one chance to do it. i've nenver played any other rpg that gives you that option. It's ridiculous anyone would think that would be an option.

We've received communication about new hair and outfits? If I missed that, my apologies, and I'd appreciate any links so that I may read up on the update. In addition, please reread my original post. I'm not saying that Bioware is some big evil corporation for not including something we wanted. I fully admitted it was foolish. But as I said, as far as I knew, nothing was stated in regards to hair and outfits. So people were hoping that BE might be a way for Bioware to address it. Given that the primary function of BE was to provide a Mirror and schematics, I don't think it's a great leap of logic to think that maybe that was a way for Bioware to introduce some of these sought after features. A most optimistic leap of logic, to be sure, but still within the boundaries of feasible.
