I don't get the eyebrows complaint though. Sure, there isn't a lot that are neatly trimmed, but there are a handful which are, and just look "normal" and "good" on a woman. Even if I insisted on creating every new character with new eyebrows, there's enough that aren't as weird as some of the... well, admittedly, weird ones.

Actually, there are only one eyebrows that look good (in my opinion) but you can't even shape/modify them to your liking. The slider for shaping the brows doesn't work as it should and instead just makes the forehead bulge outwards so that your character ends up looking like a neanderthal, literally. If the slider would work correctly, those one eyebrows would carry a long way. Shame really. Even Cassandra has great eyebrows. They should've added those to the collection.

Agreed. I can't even imagine what the person who created that was thinking. I can't believe any woman would willingly wear a style like that and if any hairstylist would cut my hair that way, I would sue them for all they have.

Yep. I really don't understand the choice made for DAi in the hair departmant.  (and is quite hard to understand, when there is NO WORD from the developers. at. all.  -_-)

Why so many balled/buzz cuts?  Because they sold the hair to wig makers for profit.  There is NO love, only profit.

The only explanation that sounds reasonable is that Bio's artists were running out of time and were about to meet the launch date head on.

If this is the case, I do hope they have some rougher models of other hairstyles still floating around their office...I mean, if they have other designs at least partially ready, it seems a shame not to use them (and I don't feel that hairstyles are something that only is good in one game. DAO and DA2 overlapped with similar hairstyles, with DA2 going on to expand the variety. I thought that was a pretty good system)

the first you quote is the one with manly sideburns. The second on row 3 one is short, barely chin lenght hair. (and I don't find it very feminine. is unkept and wild. never seen a comb, and I'd say is equally for male and female). The fourth on row two one is an abomination that does't even deserve to be seen. I can't see it as a feminine style, since I still can't understand what is it.

the first is still hardly masculine as is the second I mentioned.  They are much more similar to past hairstyles for female characters than male

You're both right, you're both wrong. Take the longest hair as an example. It has a typically-feminine look, but it also has sideburns, which are obviously masculine. The endgame here is men not wanting to use it and women hesitating to do so.

Once again: That's afro hair.

Those (the "buzzcuts" at the second hald of the sliders) are the only options I have to create a normal looking black person. Before that, it was cornrolls, or bald (yay). Afaik, there's only two actual buzzcuts, for straight-haired people.

Imagine you can do exactly two things with your hair -cutting or not cutting it- without extensive use of cosmetic products, so all you can change is the hairline or the shave.

I appreciated its inclusion. The first two games were lacking in that regard, without the use of mods. Inquisition definitely took a step in the right direction in finally including it. But even so, it still seems like a lot of the shorter afro cuts were very similar? There are a variety of styles that aren't strictly cornrolls that can be created with that texture of hair. I would hope that Bioware is able to implement some of them in the future as well.

Just looking at the hairstyles, my only wish would be that were was a bit more variety, whether in general style or length (the image shows all the styles I think, though I'm focusing on the top two rows at the moment)

A suggestion I don't really see anyone saying is more ethnic hair styles.

I am Mixed race (black/White) and I find it very hard to find a hair style to suit my look so i either go bald or very low shaved head.

More choices would be nice :D

I did prefer Cassandra's DA2 look but I wouldn't say she has a "man face" lol

I'm usually getting very snarky about this topic, but thank you for clarifying that.

Since I, too, think that the character creator, when it comes to actually modelling faces, is incredible. What's more incredible to me, is that they look like actual people - whereas in most JRPGs people often like to reference, it's easy to add ten times the amount of non-editable, "fixed" things like hairstyles, because their art style or the engine is making everyone look like puppets or taking them for a hike twelve miles into uncanny valley.

I'm actually very glad about finally having normal looking short, yet afro-curled hair in a DA game other than those bloody cornrolls, because not all black people run around like rappers or Brazilian surf instructors.

No problem. This creator has done the best job I've seen of making your characters look alive, like you said. And I hope in the future there will be more hairstyles for you. I'm all for better hairs in general, after all!

One thing I can't understand is why hairstyles Like Leliana's and Calpernia's aren't available. Both are remake of DAO styles, so not very iconic. Why are those not in the CC?

And if you choose a deep voice your character sounds like some kind of monster when jumping across certain terrain despite being human lol

No matter which voice your Inquisitor have (American or British), Human-Elf and Qunari-Dwarf jumping voice remains the same (perhaps my game is bugged, that's why jumping voice never changes despite different VA). Human-Elf is weird indeed.

(I'm talking about male Inquisitor)

OK, I need to ask: how can you people hear so well a sound that lasts less than 1 second?

I wish the dev team could consider something like this for the clothes.  The pants and boots are both black with the first outfit.  As always, I have No Dirt Buildup going:

For the Dalish, this is Luna in her causal outfit:

I also brought along a hairstyle idea.  It's in beta, but I know the devs could take a redesigned mesh like this and clean it up some.  The shadows around the ear in the second screenshot makes it look like the clipping is worse than it is.  It's actually hair that overlaps the ears in a natural way. Overall, it's really about the same as the default ponytail.  The usual amount of clipping through the ears, and it's honestly not that noticeable in the game itself.  No Sideburns are currently working, but I haven't hit up the BE mirror yet, and I've heard that's where a lot of mods can run into problems.

Edit a bit later: The hair has some very tiny gaps behind the ears during cutscenes, but nothing severe.  Since I'm nitpicky, I'm changing it once I get to the BE.  However, I'm going to put this back on for Wicked Hearts:

Meet Rowan, my next character:

Finally, for anyone that might think that the clothes are a recent complaint, here's a thread that myself and a few others in here posted in back in mid-October.  This was started right after it was confirmed that we got beige:

Thiissss.

I desperately want dreadlocks. I like to think my dwarf Warden had them back in Origins (in actuality, I stuck cornrows on him ), and I can just envision a badass Chasind lady with long, gnarly dreads... you think they'd be relatively easy to implement, given that you don't have to worry about them being shiny or flowy, like a lot of the desired hairstyles.

Unf. Do want.

Jumping like a Kangaroo is the fastest method of travel so I heard it often while I played the game lol

Especially when jumping on or over small/medium sized rocks

Yeah I agree about dreads being easy especially as cornrows are already established (just extend them to become dreads really)

But I would have liked to have seen more curly and wavy looks.

As the only hair for a black guy is a short afro, medium, Cornrows or basically bald.

Personally I don't like cornrows so it's afro or bald.

But like i said I am mixed with loose curls.... Which I am yet to find a game with that kind of hair style lol.

I really apologize if this comes across as rude, but I don't recall the length of a sound mattering much as to whether you hear it. If you think of all the sounds that are less than one second you'll probably understand what I mean. After all, you can say a few words in less than one second.

Those outfits are both great examples of things they should have had. They're a lot more interesting than the Skyhold outfit, but remain the same basic shape which negates excuses of clipping. People who toggle armour in Skyhold have said it's no different from armour clipping in any other part of the game, too, so I don't see why we can't wear that either. I also think it would have been cool to have casual appearances that can reflect your origin, like the ones shown.

That hairstyle is pretty cool, a fairly simple one that like you said, I'm sure the devs could touch up on. I will never stop finding it bizarre that they thought we would like the options we have, in general. It's not hard to go outside or look on the internet and see nice, simple, popular styles. (Not to mention styles that look a lot more Dragon Age-y than buzzcuts.) I just want something, you know?

Rowan? My girlfriend's first Inquisitor was named Rowan  :P

I sometimes put way too much thought into my character names.  Rowan is a reddish tree that, according to old Celtic myth, wards off evil spirits.  Folks used to put either sprigs or branches of that on their windows or doors as a form of protective magic.  Rowan the elf is a mage.  So, good magic fighting evil magic.  Plus, the red hair.  ;)

Now if you'll excuse me, I have coffee to go make.

Nah, that's very fitting! I wish I was more inventive and original with my names. I'm not very original in general actually. I'm creative, but I tent to work well if I modify something that already has a foundation. For instance, I think that I have good ideas about games, like potential balance or mechanical changes, or stuff like hair and outfits :P I also like doing artistic things like drawing, editing pictures to look different or better, playing music etc.

But I'm utterly incapable of composing even the simplest melodies on the piano. Anything I play will end up being a theme I know in a few notes. Likewise, I have trouble drawing images in my head; I can only copy. Which sucks, because I'd like to draw cool scenes or characters in dramatic poses  :P  Especially some of my favourite game characters all fighting together Avengers style. Bah, now I'm just blabbering
