Well if The Masked Empire can be believed, the Québécoisian Empire doesn't have alienages, so that's good in my book. True, elves are still third-class citizens (below peasants), but that's still one up on Fereldan.

The Game is bad (as in evil), no question about that, and I could do without the masks, but chevaliers are awesome warriors, the best wine comes from the left side of Thedas, and Val Montreal is very pretty, so on the whole, thumbs up.

Uh, that's not what The Masked Empire says. Halamshiral is the only city without an alienage. And that's because it's seemingly the only city in Thedas where elves make up most of the population.

On a side note, my other half loved Orlais, saved the Empress, played the game so incredibly well that he left the ball with all kinds of court approval.  It was kind of impressive even though his opinion of Orlais was the polar opposite.

What can I say?  I got mad ball skillz.

I'm not buying another game either until they let me play a chevalier.

Viva la Orlais!

Okay, but they'll just kick you out once they find out your mother was an elf and your father stank of elderberries.  :D

You made me go back and check my facts and you are right. I stand corrected.

and the assembled nobles and courtiers shook their heads and grumbled about the spoiled elves of Halamshiral not knowing how good they had it compared to Ferelden and the rest of Orlais, where they lived in the alienages.

-- The Masked Empire, Chapter 6

As a result, I must change my thumbs up to a meh.

Too bad we're going north.

Too bad we're going north.

That's ok.  If we can have a Tevinter mages and Qunari running around the south then I could probably sneak north as an Orlesian chevalier

It's better than Tevinter or the Qunari. And it's a bulwark against aggression by both of those groups. But it also had no problem brutalizing Ferelden. Like most things in the DA universe, it's a shade of grey.

All I know is if that bulwark ever fails, I'm going underground. I'll spend my life hunting nugs.

Where do you think Tevinter and the Qunari will go next?

Honestly in retrospect it being a territory of Orlais probably would have been for the best.

Orlais is the largest economic and military power in Thedas.

Beyond the obvious implications of the fifth blight...it having the protection of the Empire might have made it more civilized.

Tevinter will ally with Orzammar because lyrium.

Qunari are too big for tiny dwarven furniture. They'll give up in despair.

Nah, Tevinter will eventually attack for no reason because the plot demands, and the Qunari will take Orzammar because they should be grateful to finally see the light of Qun, even so far below ground.

Well, Sten did say the caste system was a step in the right direction... and it's true that most of Tevinter is comprised of mustache-twirling villains.

I think you're onto something.

Well how about that? It's not everyday an Archon comes to grace these humble boards.
