The only way it would work would be if one of the romance options was an already established couple, with the PC trying become a part of their relationship.
The closest in game would be Isabella and Hawke, who can have a pretty open relationship (you can have a threesome with Zevran, isabella can be ok with Tallis sleeping with Hawke, etc).
Also, Bioware already did a polyamorous relationship in Jade Empire, you can romance both Dawn Star and Silk Fox (don't know how that works with them being cousins though).

I wouldn't call that a polyamorous relationship. Just a threesome where two women who dislike each other bizzarely set aside their feelings so they can bang the protag.

The final romance conversation specifically says that they won't allow the Spirit Monk to come between them. You're either with both of them or neither. That sounds like polyamory to me.

Pffff, forget polyamory, go the harem route instead.

Polyamory is a multi-way relationship between the involved parties, not two-timing. Unless you think that the catfights were UST and that Lelianna and Morrigan were secretly snogging and having threesomes with the Warden, it wouldn't apply.
Strictly speaking a triad doesn't have to be the way to go. For example, the HOF might be with Morrigan and Leliana while Leliana sees Alistair on the side. Given where Bioware games go with their romanic content at this point that type of arrangement would at least be more honest about the messed up relationship dynamic.

I guess everyone has their own personal view on this and probably for very different reasons. A person might be triggered to hostility by the very idea of something they consider infidelity in the real world bringing back the negative feelings brought on by their awful cheating ex. I think the issue of consent has already been covered in this thread so I won't go into how making the choice to engage in polyamory in a game is not one that people will be forced into even if it's a choice that's available to people who want that virtual experience.
I'd do a polyamorous relationship and it's not because I want to bang all the characters or turn my companions into bimbos or whatever. It's because I code for a living and spend enough time on my ass in front of a screen that I only play through any game once. I preordered and am still not done with my first playthrough. I picked Josephine as my LI. It's the only romance experience I'll get in DAI because I'm not going to spend the equivalent to a 40 hr work week playing the same game again just to romance another character.

Like anyone wants to touch that half-breed mongrel anyway when Viconia is right there.
Unless you're marketing towards people into Khalid, and in that case, there's already plenty of romances for people who like disappointment.

So all I can think of as I read this thread and the idea of implementing it with an already existing couple is how much I wish this had been an option in BG2 with Jaheira and Khalid instead of them killing him off between games in order to free her up for the original Carth Syndrome romance.
Pls yes. All this.
Speaking of other games, I would've been happy to court Aribeth and Fenthick. Too bad about the, y'know... plot.

But...it's Isabella. xD
In my head, my male Hawke was also bisexual and agreed to a open relationship with her. I imagine they've had all sorts of threesome debauchery in Hawkes bed room.
