Be funny; they wont kick you and you will get carryed.
If somebody has the decency to open a treasure room for you, wait for them at the door while they pick up loot/gold. I wait at the door. Nothing worse than somebody screaming for a door to be opened and then they run off.
Play your class, if your a keeper, keep barrier up at all times.
Pick off archers. They will wreck your s**t.
You'll get better with experience.
Enjoy
Depending on how lucky you are with your first few large chests, consider playing Keeper initially, since she does not require gear to be effective at keeping the team Barrier'ed.
You should also check the free chest section, as you should have the victory chest from last week, as well as the Dragonslayer chest for a new character freebie.
I unlocked now Isabela, and tried play on new map but i didin't have visiable interface. Bad sign?
Happens the first time for some reason, you'll be fine.
Get familiar with the starting characters, learn enemy attack patterns, don't spam COME HERE too much, prioritize nugs over enemies and never eat the ham. It's never ham.
Item quality doesnt mean much generally a lvl 20 common item is going to be better then a lvl 14 unique (purple).
Most people are generally more then happy to help new players. You might run into a nerd rager once in a blue moon but mute is a wonderful thing.
Dont worry about being at the bottom of the post match results. The mp is very gear based. I remember i jumped from bottom to top once i got a top end weapon. I basically used whatever class i had the best weapon for.
As far as character builds go id suggest just trying what looks good to you the first time around then if you want you can search these forums for experienced players opinions.
Be careful though for some reason mp is highly addictive
Keeper is probably the best character to start with, although I of course started with Lego and an oddball build.
Might be a good idea to look up some of the more popular builds before you start leveling them the first time to make your life a bit easier. ![]()

Oh, also when you start off your probably want to salvage nearly everything that isn't the best weapon in its class, or armor upgrades that aren't something like Level 20 Rare or above. Salvaging Runes is also a good idea to get cloth.
The recommendation I read a while back was to use all cloth except Imperial Vestment to craft armor unlocks (start with the characters you want to play most, then go warrior, rogues, then mage due to cloth "bottleneck"). But I am not entirely sure if that info is different with the new loot drop system.
You got duelist so you should be set.
Watch and observe what other players do, especially the more competent ones.
Save your cotton cloths until you know what you are doing.
Keep buying large chests as soon as you find enough gold.
Don't buy platinum.
Do not pug. Play with friends only.
Bullsh1t.
Game would be better if people like you - like one of the first ten in the PC ranking - would play more Pug to help new players.
Learn how to play different characters to their strengths: flank don't tank, tank, ranged, support
If you are a ranged char, focus on other tanged units (ie dem archers!!)
Aggro - learn the basic mechanics of distance from NPCs before they notice you, aggro patterns become obvious and manageable
LoS (line of sight) - learn when to use this method. simply means, let enemies see you, then zip behind a wall, allow the enemy to come to you. not as a huge a deal on the original maps, with the exception of level 5 (boss), and Fereldan castle (all levels--since it is designed as an open map)
Clutching the round - sometimes it is best to let teammates die, if attempting to revive them means you will likely die too. I'd just as soon have you live and finish the round. to me that is a more heroic feat than dying.
Character builds - peruse the forums for various threads on character builds. check youtube for character vids (I have some on youtube under "ltrobbiesan" if interested). you will eventually settle upon your desired builds.
Support - tanks keep and eye on your healers and support them, support likewise for your tanks.
Synergy - learn how different characters, their play styles, and abilities, and use them together to control and decimate enemies.
there's always more, but this is good for now.
Get a headset & microphone. Learn the push to talk button. Default is ctrl on KB&M. Console players, want to chime in on what the default PTT button is on your controllers?
Talk to your players, Make friends, add them to your friends list, Play with them.

Don't believe console has PTT. It's just an open mic unless you 1) mute your own mic or 2) others in the room choose to mute you so that they can't hear you. Otherwise, it's all wide open by default.
At least, that's how PS4 is. Not sure about XBox. Also, if folks are in a party chat, then they won't hear someone talking in the lobby and vice versa. Party chat is a separate thing from chat in the game lobby.
Push to talk on console is called "pull your mic out" ![]()

Just have Fun!
otherwise it wont be worth it.

What the...? Game would be better? For who?
The only criteria with which team members are evaluated is how much XP they can generate.
And to be honest PuGs fail at this tremendously.
Why should a top player cripple their XP income by playing with a low ranking noob?
Sorry to say, but if you cannot generate enough XP to live up to a top player's standards you have no business
playing with them in the first place!

You have no idea.....The top 10 are grabbed by everyone as soon everyone see their online status.
Pug is filled by many problem:
Region lock
Bad Hosts
lack of players (on the region)
Unstable group (people who leaves as soon the run ends)
And the most important thing, you can't rejoin pug game if you DC, CTD, Narnya, or any knows issues that get you alt+f4

Except you also see plenty of players whine about 'op players coming into my routine/threatening games' 'ruining' their games. LOL
Mind you, I pug plenty, and both befriend and kick pugs plenty too. There's differences between new players, casuals and pugs, and it isn't worth the time to deal with the latter two when faced with better options.
Private games are innately more stable than pugs as well. The game is just long enough that the penalty for failing to stay in a game hurts, though short enough to begin hop in a new game without much fuss. Still sucks to lose several levels because CTD / host migrate / disconnect / etc.
There will be people that complain and don't learn anything. I don't want to play around those people. I want to play around people that have fun, and are willing to learn to have more fun.
MP is fun. MP can be a lot more fun.
Latest Duelist setup involves . . . explosions? . . . EXPLOOOOOOOOSIONS.

Sir, you are clearly a no lifer for that speech.
A top 10 player can solo everything, so why the fukk he needs another top 100 player, when he could help low promoted players to get better?

It's a video game. People do what they want. Get over it.
That is quite elitist. New players are not entitled to being carried by those who put in lots of hours and are very good at the game, but it is unfair to say they have no business playing with those far more experienced. I learn a lot from watching more experienced players and I greatly appreciate their help. Maybe simply helping others isn't a good enough reason? To some I'm sure it is not. At the end of the day I'm just a casual peasant with average weapons and a couple promotions under my belt.
