Seriously. I know this has been discussed a lot of times but i just can't handle it the AI rogue.

How can i make it work? I mean my current party is Cass/Iron Bull/Sera and my KE. However i can't keep alive my rogue for a long time.

I'm playing on Nightmare and using Sera to snipe the enemy archers and mages-she just gets owned everytime. I tried to use Cole and he wouldn't even live for more than 1 minute. I know i'm probably doing something wrong so i would like some advice there.

Also is Iron Bull really necessary? I was using Cass/Sera/Dorian and that set up worked out a lot better than it is right now. The only thing i love is the interaction between Iron Bull and Sera and how they treat each other, but i don't find him that great.

For the record, i didn't use Varric for a long time and i'm thinking about using him again, not sure if i should replace Sera.

Any suggestion is appreciated.

The key to keeping rogues alive is to draw any threats away from them. This could be done by the rogues themselves or the warriors in your party.

If you have - and you should on nightmare - a sword&shield warrior tank in your party, have they use War Cry and Challange as often as they can (set it to Preferred), this should help them keeping aggro.

As for the rogues, the best threat reducition ability is stealth, as most enemies (except those, which are listed as perceptive) will ignore the stealthed character and search for an other target. So them having stealth is a good start. As for individual party members, I'd suggest the following:

For Sera, do not grab the updgrade of flask of frost, as it taunts enemies. When in trouble, use leaping shot.

For Cole, you should have stealth by default, evolve that tree more and be sure to get the easy to miss ability - with this, enemies will ignore the rogue if he's flanking them. If he's using dual daggers, grab parry and set it to preferred as it should help him counter some attacks.

The key for Iron Bull's survival is to have him build up his guard during combat. I'd the recommend Challenge-Charging Bull-Unbowed line from Vanguard (all set to preferred) and Block & Slash and its upgrade from Two Handed.

Other than these, make sure that everyone's equipment is up to date and set their tactics to follow themselves, so they won't rush into danger to "help" an other member of your party.

Thanks a lot. I think one of my main flaws is the equipment that everyone is using. I'm struggle finding good armor for my characters, currently trying to get Tier 2 schematics.

I think i have Iron Bull's preferred skills wrong, since he never builds guard during combat, he goes all frenzy to the battle and dies within a few minutes.

Thanks a lot for your answer! I hope i can finally manage to kill at least one high dragon now. I'm currently lvl 15 and the only 3 i've tried to kill so far are destroying me.

Check the Black Emporium it has I think every schematic available in the game (and then some) and you can buy crafiting materials too.

As for dragons, I'd say go for the one in Crestwood first, it's quite easy, as it does not have small dragons helping and stays on the ground. It's attacks are electrical, so no damage-over-time if you get hit by a fire dragon. For a party, take a sword&shield tank, and have him/her taunt the dragon while the others (preferably ranged attackers or mages) destroy the dragon from afar. The only time you need to watch out is when the dragon uses that vortex-thingy to pull everyone under herself, quickly cast a barrier on your ranged attackers and they'll be fine.

Varric is by far the easiest to use and, IMO, the most versatile.
Set Long Shot to preferred, raise his crit chance, disable his traps and he's good to go.
Come time for boss/dragon fights, switch to him and unleash Hail Of Arrows on some poor bastard.

For Sera, set Flask of Lightning to preferred and make sure to take control during Flask of Fire as AI sucks with it.
(As an aside, Flask of Frost only taunts if it's upgraded.)

Taki's recommendations on using Cole are spot on but just be mindful of him as AI likes to waste Stealth.

Oh, will do then!

Yeah i was actually trying to kill that one, might try it later. Iron Bull works better now, he manages to survive a lot more than before, however i used Dorian in his place for a few fights and it worked out a lot better. Not sure how i'll do against the dragon now, i will try later.

I will test Varric, i'm currently missing a few Bianca upgrades so he won't be as effective.

I think AI completely sucks using DW Rogue, i usually have to babysit Cole to keep him alive, but i'm guessing i need to upgrade his equipments so he's able to take more than 2 hits.
