If you have already updated your video card drivers, you know it's not RAM related, Heat related or HDD related (page file, not enough swap space etc)

Just a shot in the dark. If the screen goes black and there is stuttering it could be codec related. If you have installed "codec packs" or "media packs" try uninstalling them OR looking for updates. (K-Lite/CCCP (FFDShow)

Check your soundcard drivers as well. Most people tend to ignore those. If you have built in sound, go to your motherboard/computer (Dell, HP etc) manufacturers website and look for an update OR conversely, uninstall it, reboot and see what windows comes up with instead OR uninstall it, reboot and reinstall from the website or CD (even if there isn't an update). 

Check and make sure you don't have AntiViri running ( or SpyBot S&D etc). If you do, disable it (them).

I have an issue that seems to only be at one spot, since it hasn't crashed before that and I can't get past this spot because it keeps crashing. It's during the mission to the first colony, after you open the door and face the first two security mechs. As soon as you kill them both, I'm assuming a cut scene is supposed to start, but instead the screen just goes blank and the computer freezes.



Uninstalling codec packs seems to have fixed it for me. Hasn't crashed again yet.

I have a similar issue but my display goes multi colored. It's a hard crash and forces a computer restart or I have to reset. It tends to only be in cut scenes or sometimes when a voice over is shouted.



I did install some codecs recently ... Not sure how to remove them nor would I know which ones I need to keep. I recently installed Corel VideoStudio Pro X2.

The odd part is I played the game all the way through one time with only a icon drag crash. And now it crashes fairly consistently every few hours.

OK first things first: ASUS p5q3 motherboard with onboard realtek high def audio driver, nVidia gtx 285 video card



Cutscenes on Dragon Age and Mass Effect 2 all lag with the exception of voices. Gunfire, swords, ect. all lag farther behind the video the longer the scene continues. I have updated all my drivers and still have the problem.



Any suggestions?

I have the exact opposite problem problem with Mass Effect 1, but not ME2 or DAO!
In all dialogue, cutscenes, and FMV video lags behind audio and gets worse as a scence progresses.

i keep finding hang up holes in game where ill start walking thru sky and get stuck on missions and have to restart mission
