Here I go again with yet another question. It's just impossible to find answers online sometimes, when video tutorials skip the part you need to know or unfinished wiki articles block you from finishing your project.

 

This is what I need to know: 

 

I created a custom NPC. I wanted to give her Duster Leather Armor, but the standart set had the wrong tier.

 

I created a custom item with the correct properties.

 

How can I equip my NPC with that armor? The folder containing such items is nowhere to be found. I also can't choose it from the "Inventory"-list in the creature editor.

 

Edit - Solution: Right-click on your item, go to export and then export "without dependent resources". Save everything you have currently opened, then restart the toolset. Your item should appear in the inventory selection box.

Your question isn't clear so I'm not sure exactly what you can't find or where you're looking for it.

 

How do you equip your NPC with which armor?  The armor you created?  If you used the same module to create the NPC and the armor then the armor should be in the folder that you put it in.  You did 'export without dependent resources', correct?

 

 

Sometimes you just have to find the answers for yourself.  The wiki doesn't have all of the answers.

As long as you saved the item in the same module, or a linked module, then it should show up in the item palette when you open the creature's inventory.

That's what I did. I saved my custom item in the same module as my creature and exported it 'without dependent resources'. It shows up correctly in my "items" palette, yet I can't use it when I edit the NPC's inventory.

 

How can I even see which folder an item is saved to? I was never asked by the program where I want to save it (except for the standart module selection) and I can't find the armor in any of my folders. 

 

It doesn't even matter if I never find out which folder it's saved in, as long as I can use it.

 

So to make clear what I'm looking for: I created a new item and gave it some properties (name, tier etc.). I then want that this very item appears in the inventory selection so my NPC might equip said item.

Okay, now that's weird.

 

I couldn't do anything yesterday after trying to find a solution for 2 hours. I start up the toolset today, and just like that, my custom item shows up.

 

It seems that a restart still solves many problems after all.

F5 - the F5 key (while in the toolset) can resolve the issue you were having.
