So, I just got my copy of WoT Vol. 2 yesterday. I haven't gotten very far (on page 42 as of typing this OP),  and I can't wait to read through the whole thing.  I have leafed through the entire book, though, and it strikes me that there is a metric ton of content concerning Andraste, Andrastianism, and the Chantry.

The first 5 pages are about Andraste.  There is a solid 30 page chunk on verses of the Chant of Light, and another 20 pages of "Andraste's bookshelf: Essential tomes for the painfully devout."

Now as I've said, I haven't read much, so I can't really judge yet and I'm still psyched to read the book. I love all of the lore of Dragon Age.  But I can't help but feel that WoT 2 seems too heavy with Chantry content.  The parts of the book not focusing on the Chantry appear to be chapters titled after the protagonists of the 3 main games.  ( and those chapters seem to be mostly concerned with the companions of the PC's, which is understandable and expected since there are so many variables concerning the PC's themselves. It would be tricky to put things down in stone when one player's Warden/Hawke/Inquisitor can be quite different from the next player ).

Ferelden and Orlais seem to get more attention than Nevarra, Antiva, and Rivain, which again is understandable since we've only had game content from the first two countries. I would like to see some new tidbits of info concerning the cultures we have not yet had much of yet.  I'm sure they are saving the good stuff for future games, but here's hoping there is some to be found by reading further.

Dwarven, Elven, and Qunari content seems to consist mostly of scraps.... which is disappointing.  Through skimming, I have found roughly 1 and 1/2 pages of Dwarven content regarding Paragons.  There is a quarter page long excerpt from the Qun.  And there is a Dalish lullaby that amounts to 7 sentences of content.

That seems to be it.  And there is are 2 chapters dedicated to Chantry stuff.   It's not a huge deal to me personally, but I was hoping for more diversity of content in regards to the cultures of Thedas.

*This is not a complaint thread.  Just making observations.

Can't say it's too surprising considering DAI was largely Chantry-focused anyway

But the new revelations are nice.

Same. I was hoping for more content regarding places we haven't been. Like Tevinter, Rivain, and Nevarra.

I'm loving the character pages, though.

Elven and dwarven lore bombs are only really appropriate to come in games and possibly books and comics if you ask me. I've personally read a lot of hintage regarding Tevinter and the Qunari, (e.g. Maevaris' role in Tevinter reform and Rasaan being chosen as the Ariqun's successor), in my previews. I also read some things connecting Andraste and the elves some more, so there's that too.

Oh, I agree. Major revelations should be left to the games themselves, but I was just hoping for more diversity of content.

Add a word that starts with "f" and ends with "ing" in there and I'll be all over that. :D

Well I can only go off what my preview pages showed me and I feel while it was definitely human and Chantry focused, the diversity was there. I feel it's justified though. We've just had Inquisition, a game set in the south of Thedas with heavy Andrastian themes, and if the general consensus is right and we are heading north for DA4 onwards, it makes sense to have a book largely focused on southern Thedas and Chantry lore peppered with hints for the future.

Thanks! I love it! She's the worst and she's so crazy and I just want the writers to have fun with her being the worst and despicable and all the adjectives even though they never will because hardly anyone else keeps her alive.

I wanted to keep her alive. I wanted her to have to live with her shame and disgrace for the rest of a long, bitter life. :P

Damn Qunari assasin.

Having a large portion of the Chant in front of me was pretty interesting, particularly the Magister portion when they entered the Black City. That section confirms a long term fandom suspicion.

No surprise here at all.

The people who argue that groups need freedom, tolerance here.

Argue in defense of those who would crush notion of either because those who oppose them have faith.

It's really almost disappointing.

More on topic, pages 205 through 217 have some interesting children's fables from a variety of different cultures.

Yeah, I get it. And like I said, I'm still super excited to read it and I'm sure I will love it.   So you feel that there is diversity of content?  I will keep reading to see for myself.

From what little I was able to read, yeah.
