Please don't apologize. I have about had my fill of the whining one way or another. Doesn't seem to matter. Give a guarranteed high item level item to mitigate poor rng luck and get trolled for rewarding people who actually put time into this game. Don't give an item and people complain that you need your end game weapons within the first week of playing.

To the guy complaining that his AW has been doing perilous dragon runs but did not get a good item in the victory chest, lol. If you are doing perilous dragon runs regularly, you should already have your fill of dragon weapons.

I just hope that the guy who has visibly been responsible for reinvigorating this game doesn't get turned off by people whining one way or another who are never satisfied.

I'm tired of the snobby, uppity post that look down on other players for posting what they want to say about the game. (I'm really not, but since you made an "I'm so tired of blah, blah, blah" post, I thought I would too,...)

If it wasn't for the people who "whine", then nothing would ever get improved upon. You may be content with the game and how everything currently is, but others may choose to push for more than sub-mediocrity.

Multiple perilous dragon runs doesn't equate to multiple dragon weapons,... people have killed hundreds and still don't have the set. The fact that he has killed multiple dragons is somehow suppose to justify him not needing a dragon weapon?,... OK,...RNG,.. but whatever

People who are never satisfied?,.... OK, this one really gave me a good laugh.

Satisfied by the countless, bugs, glitches, disconnects, poor decision making, poor matchmaking, lack of content (until just recently, although it is still lacking if truth be told), the awful loot system, the lack of disclosure or is their some other thing that I missed that I should be so content and satisfied with.

Feel free to berate people for pushing for change if you must, but some of us see the game for what it could be, and things could be a whole lot better.

No, really. It said Dragon weapons. You hoped for the best Dragon weapons. You didn't get them.

That is the account of events as they transpired.

If you were unaware that there are "lesser" Dragon weapons, then I feel with you. For me, I knew they come in different tiers, and from day one I thought "I hope it's gonna be a legendary one at least"

I actually did get a level 24 dragon weapon,...

These post are for the people who worked hard to contribute to the community score and didn't get one.

I know what the post said.

Disclosure is the key word. They were even asked about the item level of the dragon weapons and chose to never reveal the information. That is shady. You can call it promotion or whatever you feel to justify it, but they could have disclosed the information and people wouldn't have been upset.

That'd be the 330 Maul.... which I have of course. What're you going to put on there? I have critical damage bonus and attack.

Wrong! 331 Maul confirmed.

Well... some of them would still be upset Jebediah but they wouldn't feel cheated.

And to tne person whose sick of 'whining', you are sorely wrong. Just because people complain about the faults in the game, and the loot system is a major fault, doesn't mean we don't all appreciate the efforts Luke and company are making to improve the experience for everyone. As a point of fact, most of us are very grateful for Luke's presence and efforts. That doesn't change the fact that there are still problems in the multiplayer. The topic at hand, the RNG loot system, is near the top of the list. Any system that has the potential, however small a chance, for a brand new player to get high level gear like rain from the sky and a player who's been playing for months to go dozens and dozens of chests getting nothing but low ro mid level salvage is a bad and terribly flawed system. There is no guarantee of getting better gear no matter how much you play. Yes, your chances improve over time but the chance is still random. Any loot system based exclusively on luck is a bad system.

I agree with those points. They certainly need attended to.  That is a completely separate issue though.

Yet the game must be decent enough if we are all still playing it.

Is there a way to check your item score?

To actually be able to predict what I'll get, when I open the chest after I get home after a day at work.

At best you could make an educated guess.

How much money you've had and spent. You can look in challenges to see how much you've earned.

There's no way to account for the other parts though as far as I know.

Quick version: No.

So in other words, it's a bit of a toss-up as to whether a given player would be rewarded a high level dragon weapon from the second dragon event chest. And without full information being given about how you may or may not get a Lv24 dragon weapon once the secondary event was underway...yeah, I can understand why people would be upset. While this dragon item business is definitely a smaller issue, it reminds me of Destiny; despite looking in many different places, information on the full extent of Sony's exclusivity deal with Bungie/Destiny simply was not available. Not even on the official website for Sony's version of Destiny was the information present. Shady to the extreme, the launch of Destiny was. Blah, sorry for my tiny little rant there...that **** really ticked me off. In short, full disclosure good, partial disclosure bad.

I wish I could 'like' this post more than once.

Could BW been more open about the rarity and the loot algorithm used to distribute the dragon weapons? Possibly, But they were on vacation and decided to modify the reward to make it better. Its ridiculous to whine that instead of getting a normal useless victory chest we got a slightly better victory chest.

Distributing by loot score is the fairest way to do it.

I never said the post was a lie, I said it was misleading. I also said, they should have disclosed the fact that lower itemscore players would be receiving lesser weapons.

All your post does is back up what I said.

It was not sufficiently detailed to avert your misunderstanding.

A breath of fresh air has wafted through DAIMP in recent weeks, let's not get mean or grumpy about this please.

We understand what has happened and why.

I understand you were disappointed.

The idea was that you would get a good weapon relative to what you should theoretically be fighting. If you're in a situation where you're not at this item level but you're killing Perilous Dragons (and not being carried by teammates) then I've likely made an error with the distribution values.

That is perfectly okay. You can always repeat this type of challenge to give him another chance at getting it. :o

*covers up the fact that I want a particular Dragon Weapon and would appreciate the chance for another*

(On an equally seriously note: I enjoyed the fact that we had a weekend event that actually felt important. A guaranteed item is better than a random chance of random loot.)

Apologies for those disappointed, I'll work on modifying our strategy for this when we do these events in the future. Don't worry, I don't get discouraged when people are upset, that is the nature of a live service. As was pointed out several times in this thread I will never be able to please everyone... doesn't mean I won't strive for that though :)

:P

Seriously, though, I do appreciate the effort you and the other devs are making. TW3 is downloading now, but I'll still be playing DAMP when it's done.

I got a unique so I am happy for myself, but I feel sorry for those who have been very unlucky and are far behind simply because of RNG. Besides, giving players one powerful weapon so they can up their game a little won't do that much damage I think.

I think the bigger worry for some might be the fact that it might be another 6 months until there will be a reward worth gunning for, meaning that they just lost their chance of getting something worthwhile for the next 6 month. Maybe if you did similar events like these every week or every other week or once a month might inspire people to crack open more chests to raise their item levels.

The average player will, if he sticks to the game and plays even semi-remotely every weekend, have 24 commendation chests, possibly 24 victory chests and a bunch of gold for large chests. While I understand you claim to have bad RNG working against you, the average player will not.

For my sake it has actually been turning for the better(-ish). 30 perilous dragon and I got the Maul of the Dragon. Not sure if 1 item for 30 perilous dragon is a good drop rate, but I am happy with that. When I say unlucky with RNG - I mean the fact that I had 7 longbow of the griffon while all other weapon categories at a level 17 rare at most as the strongest weapon. I have been getting more as of late (but 3-400 chest inn the game, I am inclined to say its about time), but I also have a friend who has played just a little less then me and his strongest unique is a level 16. Then there are those who have played half his time and have multiple level 23 uniques. This is why RNG is bad. But anyway, let's not derail this into another discussion about RNG - we both stand on opposite sides on the matter - you love it, I hate it - let's just leave it at that =)

As for my point now - I'm inclined to say having a proper motivating chest for weekend event result will motivate more people to play and keep trying for the events. As for the victory chests currently - honestly; I think I would be a lot more motivated to do it if I got a single guranteed imperial cotton (or whatever the tier 3 healing cloth is called) over getting a victory chest. And I think I am not the only one. Point being - better incentive to do events would do the game and community a lot of good.

This is somewhat off-topic and superficial but I wouldn't mind a banner for each weekend event too.

If they start throwing good purples into every commendation/victory chest the power creep will be off the charts.

Mind you, it wouldn't hurt to have the odd one thrown in once a month I suppose.

I'm in the got something good camp though.

Tell that to my friend who had around 40 perilous dragon kills during the event and walked away with a blue dragon weapon from the victory chest. He did get I think two purple dragon weapon drops from those 40 runs but they were both repeats of ones he'd already gotten before the event. He did far more to contribute to the weekend event than most and effectively got nothing worth keeping out of it. Yeah.... that's fair!
