Tin foil hat time - but having run a fair few perilous runs over this weekend (and no dragon loot as per usual), it occurred to me that with the weekend challenge and presumably lots more dragon runs and calls thrown into the mix, I wonder if the Bioware peeps might have nerfed dragon loot for this weekend. I suppose I can't help but be cynical when it comes to developers meddling with drops etc. I read that the drop rate has already been nerfed since release (yeah, great...).

So, anyone had any love from the rng god this weekend in re: dragon runs?

Wondering if to spend some more hours today doing runs, or just wait till the weekend is over (challenge already completed on PS4).

Damn it. Why don't I have that kind of luck?

"Countless" isn't actual numbers. If you've done 100 perilous FC Dragon runs with no Dragon Weapons, I would have a hard time believing you. At the very least name your platform.

read that the drop rate has already been nerfed since release (yeah, great...).

FUD LOL you're reading absolutely trash misinformation. Drop rates have actually been increased signifigantly since release, especially with the Dragon loot. Your chances of getting a unique level 24 end game item from a Dragon run is 1/10, which really amounts to potentially 20+ runs without a drop, but it is really exceedingly unlikely. It is far more likely you'll end up with repeats as you do more runs and gain more Dragon items and end up like the rest of us complaining about stuff you already got.

Let's see... what are my chances of getting a dragon item... 1/10. Ok, so I might go 10+ runs without one. That's ok. What're my chances of getting sulevin's blade? 1/10000!?!?!?!? I could get 10k items, costing me 120k gold, and still nothing? More likely I could go 1.2 million gold worth of large chests and no sulevin's. Yeeeech.

I'll farm Dragon Weapons TYVM. Much cheaper and time efficient.

How many, and what platform? If you're on PC, feel free to add me on Origin.

I read on the internet that Obama is actually a shapeshifting lizard from another dimension put into a position of power by other shapeshifting lizards to control the human race. I read it on the internet so it must be true.

I agree with Drasca that dragon loot is much more time efficient to get than regular gear. Like, I've never ever gotten a Sulevin and on my third dragon run I get the  great sword of the Dragon! Yeah baby! I got 4 dragon weapons (staff repeated, sword, greatsword) in like my first 5 perilous runs and since then I've gotten nothing in many runs. I don't think the rates have been nerfed, sometimes you just hit an improbable... probability (as did I). Don't despair, your luck will change.  ^_^  RNG is random and of course when you hit the low end of the distribution curve you tend to try to explain it with tin foil hat situations but I don't think that's the case here.

I really hate this system and having some very unhealthy thoughts towards BW, but I agree with Drasca - I just hit 1 mil and still no Sulevin, but got me the Greatsword in 3 days. As I remember I got my Punched by the Maker at about 400k gold mark, with Griffon at 700k-ish, but got the bow also. Staff at the FIRST dragon slain and I ran with Mindchill for a long time too.

I am missing only the one hander and the shield, which is really impressive, considering I`ve been at it for 3 days vs 1 mil darned gold in 500 hours.

I've had none this weekend, but that's not unusual so far as I've seen for drop rate.

I took me about 100 kills to get the set.  This weekend i got 3 items in about 10 kills ( all salvage now ).

So to me it looks like the drop rate has gone way up welcome to RNG.

I'm at about 35 perilous dragons slain since release and so far all I have to show is a bow of the dragon. It was the one I wanted the most so I guess I can't complain. Still, the RNG system has started to become rather disheartening. I do get a steady stream of uniques but almost all of them are low to mid level uniques that are inferior to common and rare high level gear I already have.

I really don't understand why they insist on staying with such a terrible RNG based reward/loot system.

There are so many different paths they could have taken.

Someone suggested dragon tokens per kill to be able to buy items directly from the store, which I think is an incredible improvement on the current system.

Achievement rewards and items available in the store for a substantial amount of gold, could also lessen the blow of opening 4-5 hundred thousand gold's worth of chests with nothing of any kind of value.

In all of the games of my entire gaming life, this game has hands down the absolute worst loot system of them all. I am 39 years old and have been playing games since Atari 2600.

Well, just like it has been said before by a few players, Dragon loot is way more efficient than regular Store purchased loot. I have spent something like 2,5 million gold and I never got a Pyre of the Forgotten nor a Staff of the Void, but I got a Staff of the Dragon on my 4th Dragon killed which makes any other fire element staff obsolete. It also makes the Fury of the Veil which I used for over 200 mage promotions virtually obsolete.
I am not sure how many dragons I've killed, but they have dropped the weapons way easier than what I had expected them to. I got all the 7 weapons and some duplicates after 4 days, some people I know got them in 3 days and for others it took a week. Less hardcore players may take longer, but eventually they will get all weapons. All it takes is to keep playing. Dragon weapons are nowhere as improbable as Unique loot from the Store, and they are generally much better, too.
If I didn't read the complaints here on BSN, I would have the impression these Dragon weapons are so easily obtainable they almost spoils the game loot progression compared to what it used to be.

That is my concern as well. They are too easy to get currently, and I don't even play perilous that often.

I don't think so. I've gotten a couple of dragon weapons this weekend. (Naturally, they were Threatening runs. My Perilous runs didn't drop dragon weapons.)

You can't "spoil" something that is so beyond broken, that there is nothing to even compare it to.

You can't even call the loot progression in this game "bad", the loot progression in this game is so "bad", it goes into a category all of it's own. There's no comparison to even describe how bad it is.

Sure, compared to a system that is so terrible, maybe the dragon loot drops do look "easy", but you are comparing it to something that is beyond broken.

Perilous pugs aren't easy, and i know personally some psn players who have killed over 200 perilous dragons that still haven't completed the set. Duplicates are a @#$%^.

I'm fine with the way the dragon loot currently is, I know eventually I can get all the weapons and it's a lot better than trying to progress though the store chest, but it's still not by any means "easy".

The store chests are still a major issue though, eventually new items will be brought in, and chances are they aren't gonna drop from dragons.

If dragon loot hadn't of come into the picture, I'd of left this game by now. 400,000 gold spent in store chests without a usable upgrade. That's absurd for the number of items I'm still missing.

The best words to describe the loot system in this game is incomprehensible demoralization. After saving up a weeks worth of gold, go buy 50-60k worth of chests, only to get nothing of any use,.. rinse and repeat, week after week. The only question that comes to mind is why?, Why do I keep doing this?, Why do I keep doing this to myself? I know I can't be the only player who has felt this way, and I'm sure it's what drove most players to quitting.

You must be kidding. No comparison? I suppose you never played Diablo 3 during the first couple of years when the Auction House dictated everything. I think at the time people calculated that you could be playing tens of thousand of years and still be unlikely to find the best loot. People made money catering to the desperate rng of that scam.

I've had worse, trust me.  The only advantage other games had over DAMP RNG was that items could be traded.  This of course led to gold farmers selling at overly insane prices that almost no average player could afford unless you buy gold.  Aside from the items being incredibly rare, they were loot drops from raids, and you could only raid once a day.  I know other games have even longer lockouts.  Comparing that to unlimited perilous dragon runs, I'd take dragon runs any day.

I do wish you could trade items with people on your friends list.  I've had to salvage 3 Sulevin blades already which I would willingly have given away for free to anyone who needed them.

@LearnedHand Diablo 3... you just reminded me of terrible times :P
