Hi folks,

I started playing the multiplayer yesterday (PC). My reaver is lvl 18 now and I'm enjoying the game. I got a lvl 16 maul of the dragon and the rest of my gear is just common (grey) stuff.

This forum already helped me a lot, but I still have some questions.

1. does my "rang" do anything besides giving me titels, portraits and banners?

2. how do I farm efficiently? I'm playing random maps on threatening so far. Should I farm dragons all the time? in this case I would have to buy the dragon chests for the dragon calls instead of regular ones. But I feel the regular chests are more efficient item wise.

3. Bear mauls the wolves passive worthwile for beginners?

thanks in advance.

1 - just cosmetic no real in game benefit

2 - i try avoid fereldan on anything but perilous, you get more xp per round but rounds take longer.  If your in a good group dont leave to open chests etc.  Just save them for later.

3 - i recommend it on reaver its usually one of last things i get.  Id get stuff like war horn, flow of battle, deathblow, warriors resolve, fervor prior to that tree.

Edit

Also non fereldan threatening maps are in bgeneral the best gold per hour

1. When you promote your stats increase. Constitution for warriours, willpower for mages and cunning for archers. Other than that no, it's just for epeen.

2. For gold/time efficiency I believe threatening on vanilla maps is best. Dragon weapons are good but with tier 3 upgrades "normal" weapons can be as good or even better.

3. It's worthwhile for everybody, but quite far down the skill tree for reaver so you shouldn't be in a hurry to get it.

Thanks very much for your reply. But I still need some clarification:

2. So you suggest running vanilla maps on threatening and opening regular chests?  And eventually I have the gear for perilous. In this case I switch to buying dragon chests (for dragon calls) and doing dragon runs to get purple weapons? (I heard they have a dropchance of 10% which would be decent)

3. I'm lvl 18 now, so I got 2 skillpoints left. My plan was to put them in the devour perk and the bloodbath passive. Should I skip one of those for the bear mauls the wolves passive?

I consider bear mauls the wolves to be essential to all my warriors, especially two handers.

They're supposed to be right in the thick of things and you'll always be getting tagged in the back. Usually by villainous archery....

2:

If you want gold: play regular maps on threatening and open all the doors (~ over 1000 gold/match if you always get gold out of the treasure rooms)

If you want XP to level up and promote quickly: play the new map, you get way more XP b/c more enemies.

For the Dragon Call: buy either the chest - as long as it's still in the store (I think they won't be there forever) OR craft the calls yourself via weapon crafting OR hope that someone else will ring the bell

If you slay the dragon you have a chance to get a dragon weapon as bonus loot (blue on threatening and purple on perilous)

Personally, I think you should get a Keeper or similar (ZITHER! if you have him) up and just run some perilous dragon runs as long as this weeks challenge is active.

You could get lucky and earn the good stuff™, since alot of players are farming them currently, and the Keeper and ZITHER! are not that gear dependant, and can add enough value to a perilous Group.

Just stick close to the team and don't worry about them skipping the doors, since a number of the perilous players (at least on PC), tend to skip the rooms.

My builds are very much about reward / time efficiency:

http://forum.bioware...rite-mp-builds/

Old maps for gold / time

New maps (no dragon summoning, regular boss) for exp / time

New maps (dragon fights) for level 24 unique weapon farming

If you can't handle Perilous, farm threatening Fereldan castle for exp.

3. Bear mauls the wolves passive worthwile for beginners?

No. There are active abilities you need to prioritize way before BMW

thanks for the input. prolly gonna level a keeper or zither now for perilous dragon runs. I feel you kinda have to take the "good" chance for purple weapons aslong it is given.

but can someone tell me what kind of gear a reaver needs to be a contribution to a perilous dragon group?

and is promting necessary? I ask because I dont find leveling that exiting.

A level 20'ish grey weapon would likely do the trick I think. However, the Reaver is more about positioning and ability use (Horn and combat roll) than sheer LOLDRAGONRAGEEEEEEE'ing on Perilous if you do not have good gear and many promotions. You have to dodge and weave alot.

However, if you get a ZITHER! to join the group and he follows you around and buffs you with attack speed and Heal on Hit, then you can do just fine. The Fereldan castle map has many places where you can Dragon rage all day long.

As for promoting, I feel that it's silly not to get the free power boosts that they provide over time, especially as you can get to level 10 or 11 in a single FC perilous match. (Yes, you'll be carried, but thats fine for a single game)

TBH if levelling doesn't do it for you, you should probably stop playing now. When you've played every character once, or maybe a few times, and you have good gear, levelling is all there is. This game does get better the more you play, but if you don't have the patience for that don't waste your time.

As a reaver you are going to be doing a lot dodging and hiding in perlious unless you have a barrier angel  ;)

You probably will need some constitution promotions just so that you don't die in one shot to everything (since you can't reliably kite in lag).
