Given there are only six types of ships present in the series (fighters, interceptors, frigates, cruisers, dreadnoughts and carries). It'd be interesting to see if this will be expanded upon to include destroyers, corvettes and other kinds of ships.
If I remember correctly, there actually are corvettes in the ME universe. However, there might be a place for a destroyer-class ship.
The destroyer's job would not be to execute long patrols, wave the flag, and be a base for marines and smaller craft, but rather all about destroying other ships.
