i would like to be able to achieve framerates above 62(which it is clearly
locked at), since i have a monitor with 85hz+ refresh rate
typically
in other recent games using the unreal3 engine with this fps limit, i'd go into one of the
conifg files and either be able to turn off the limit, or put it at a
higher #, and i cannot find that config file with that info in mass
effect 2
is there a known way yet to ged rid of it?
PS,
ive tried looking for help in a couple other forums, and thread ended up into a silly argument of being able to see framerates above 60 and would prefer that not to happen again here
thanks
Mass effect 2, fps limit/cap...

Are you sure the monitor, according to Windows & DirectX, is actually refreshing at 85Hz? Most framerate locking just is v-sync, which should lock to your refresh rate...
(and for what it's worth, if the monitor can display above 60 fps, yes the human eye can gain benefit for some specific visuals - it's when you run the card at ridiculous fps whilst the monitor carries on at 60Hz = 60 fps that usually yields the arguments, because in that case, the card is generating frames you never see...)

yes, my monitor is most certianly refreshing at 85hz during game according to my monitor's OSD menu, and the "display" section of the mass effect 2 configuration utility

do any of the developers perhaps browse through these forums occasionally?

I imagine you need to find a way to disable Verticle Sync, which is likely what is fixing the frame rate at 60. You can do this through the nvidia or ati consoles I'm guessing.

nah its not vsync...even if it was the issue, it would be trying to cap out at 85, since that is the refresh rate of my monitor when playing in game
its the same 62fps cap thats used in other UE3 engine based games(mass effect 1, UT3, borderlands, etc) and all of them ive been able to find the command in one of the config files to change it...but it is nowhere to be seen for ME2

It's only telling you that the FR is what the monitor is refreshed at..your game still run at whatever FR your cpu can deliver

I have a 120hz LCD and I too get the 60 fps cap, it's not vsync.

I have not tried this, don't know if it works. You should probably make a backup of the original file (DefaultEngine.ini) before modifying it.
From: guru3D forum post #61 by Eastcoasthandle
Go into the game's subdirectory: Mass Effect 2\\BioGame\\Config
Open DefaultEngine.ini
Scroll down to [SystemSettings]
Change UseVsync=True to UseVsync=false
Scroll down to [Engine.VSync]
Change ForceFullVSync=True to ForceFullVSync=false
You may need to disable motion blur.
