To paraphrase, if we were in 2001 and the news was global.
"Terrorists have launched a suicide attack on the Twin Towers in New York. Thousands from wounded to dead people. And now we'll talk about the culinary delights of Forth Worth."

you make it sound like getting arrested for drug is equivalent to thousands of lives lost.

I'm making it sound like an arrest for drugs is more important than babbling on politics, on many levels, as a tragedy where thousands of people died is more important than traditional cooking of some place.
At least important at the point you can't close the news that way.
