So Witcher 3 is being released tomorrow which I am sure yall are excited for, currently playing through the first 2 games now but one decision is weighing heavily on my mind, what to do with Letho when the time comes? I love the character of Letho and he is my honorary husbando, however when it comes to the end of the Witcher 2 it just feels like a somewhat anticlimactic ending to a brilliant game to let him live and part ways as if tracking him down was all for naught, the ending just seems so much more romantic if it is 2 former friends locked in a duel to the death as Geralt avenges the murder of King Foltest! However that being said I really want to see what role he plays in the 3rd installment (and I know he is in there, I would recognize those trunks anywhere).

 

So you see my dilemma, should Letho live or should he die? What role will he play in the events of Witcher 3 and is it possible that this time the Witcher will be more inclusive and allow Geralt to make man love with Letho?

Litterally no reason for him to die, Geralt doesn't owe Foltest anything and I don't see why he should care about him -- Sure, death of a king usually bodes ill for the citizens of said nation given the uprising and chaos it'd cause but it's not really Geralt's business. If anything, Letho has been more of a friend to him than that of the dead king so yeah.. He lives.

True. Hunt him but not kill him -- At that point, when he do finally confront him, there isn't much point to killing him as it would serve no one anything.

 

In retrospect, Geralt owes Letho more than he ever would Roche, but in all honesty, you don't do favors for friends only to expect something in return.

I could understand why he did everything else, and while I liked Foltest I could see Letho's reasons for doing the assassinations. But the way he just offhandedly mentioned killing a (presumably) innocent person did not sit well with me. It showed me that he was willing to commit the murder of innocents for the cause of Nilfgard. I assumed he would stay with Nilfgard if I let him go which would run the risk of him killing more innocents.

 

Clearly I was wrong.

On my first (canonical, which I lost sadly) play through I killed him. I was totally ready to let him live too. The he had his little parting "if we fight I'll kill you" line and I was "okay, that's it, just try it". Which is clearly the pettiest possible reason.

In future PTs I've tried very hard to pretend like that comment isn't there. Honestly, Letho in the end did do a lot for you. And there's no real point to fighting him. But he did a lot to hurt you - and Triss - and that one last smartass comment...

Letho does not really hold human life in high regard which is not surprising due to the scorn Witchers recieve and I imagine Letho would cop it doubly so due to him being freakishly huge, I imagine killing people to him would be no different to killing a rabbit, so long as it suits his purpose human life is expendable, nobody ever claimed he is a saint and I would even go so far as to call him a monster himself, but I can understand his mindset and why he is the way he is.

I made an unfair assumption it seems, usually whenever somebody comes into a Witcher thread just to tell everyone how much it sucks it is most likely a Dragon Age/Bioware fan who feels the need to avenge them for some perceived slight.
