I am having a bit of a problems with Alistair's warrior tactics. He is in my team and when i first started playing he would charge into a group of enemies get surrounded and die quickly. I set him to defensive and tinkered with the tactics screen a little but that made it worse as he would just stand watching in a fight.

 

I set him to aggressive but it still needs me to take him over and attack an enemy before he starts fighting.

 

So what tactics do you use for a warrior ?

Set Ali to aggressive, get and perma activate Shield Wall ASAP. He also gets the highest rated armour ASAP.

His first tactic should be Health < 50% use smallest health poultice. The next ones should be activations (like Shield Wall, for example). Then he should be set to either "Attack nearest enemy' or 'attack nearest mage'. That should make him attack baddies and keep him alive.

The game checks tactics every round starting at the top of his list. Once it hits a valid action, it starts it, then resets the list. Putting getting healed at the top helps him stay healthy. The statuses make sure they get used. And so on.

Potion at 50% no. 1, attack nearest visible no. 2. After that, rogues and warriors should select certain criteria for their special attacks. I like to use 50% health for Overpower and Assault- Rank Elite or Higher for my warriors, but to each his own. I favor the offensive talents more than the defensive ones, though.
