Heroes and villains...

How black and white. Things are never that simple or easy to judge. They're just words, two words for one thing that can be anything.

To BioWareMod, I do think we were inspired by David our hero that we don't need but deserve.

Being a Hero can be as dramatic as saveing a child from a burning building or as simple as helping an old person down a few steps.

nuff said.

I dont think heroes are actually tied to morality. Places where most heroes come forth, battlefields and wars, aren't really places where morality comes into play.

Heroes are people who overcome outstanding odds and inner limitations such as fear or self-preservation, in the pursuit of a goal or task. It's all about standing up for their beliefs and facing said consequences that make one a hero.

The problem is, those beliefs don't have to be the noblest of intentions, and rven if they are, they don't have to be good. Different sides of a conflict have outstanding people who do extraordinary things, and to each side, theirs are the heroes while the others are the bad guys. I like to bring up game of thrones a lot, mostly cause it shows a good example of this dichotomy in two characters. Jamie Lannister and Gregor Clegane. Jamie isn't the best person, but one of the most character defining moments was his killing of the fromer "mad king" aerys targaryen. He was the mad kings persopersonal guard, and swore an oath to fight and die for him, but when the mad king was losing and planned to set his city and everyone in it on fire, jamie killed him before he could give the order fully, saving thousands. In doing so though, he broke his oath and committed treason, and has forever been branded and shamed as a kingslayer. Gregor Clegane is the opposite, a giant amongst men whose combat prowess and history are ledgendary. Hesw earned knighthood, honors, and arguably is considered an ideaL of. Fine warrrior. He's a monster, whose most praised act was finding the prince of the mad kings wife and children, killing the kids, bashing a babies head against a wall, raping the widow, before killing her as well. But because he was working for the otherside, and didn't swaer an oath to the mad king, he was praised as a hero for his deeds.

Being a hero is about doing something you believe is right, even if it costs you life and limb, and especially in the face of overwhealming odds.

Its just that what you believe is right, has a wide margin for interpretation.

But again, having peace in ourselves: is it a real challenge or not? When am I in peace with myself and others?

Equanimity...

Is hard.

For our first duel, I will use the lowest setting.

Edit: And add that The Six Fingered Man and Wesley represent an intriguing take on the hero-villain dynamic. See? On topic.

A hero does things for the benefit of others at self expense even if they are against him

A bad guy does things for self pleasure at the expense of others even if they are with him
