Hm, no? Soldier is the only kit that can self-detonate with power. Perfect choice for a match when you don't want to worry about grenades (like when there are two drells and an AUI in the lobby).

Sentinel > Soldier regardless of ammo box "issues".

You've got 9 clusters and 6 thermal clip packs. If that combined with what you do get from ammo boxes isn't enough, I don't know what to say.

Sorry to get so worked up but I think they screwed the soldier up royally. The two kits are almost the same it's just the Sentinel is a better version of the flamer kits. I wish the Soldier had incendiary strike and maybe multifrags. This of course is my personal opinion.

I was going to say that the soldier and sentinel are pretty much the same character, flame something, wait for cooldown and either shoot carnage or throw a grenade. The engineer is ok but there is better options for engineers unless you just want to play a Vorcha. The biggest gripe I have with Vorcha is the stupid growl animation from bloodlust, I don't know how many times I was in the middle of shooting when the retarded animation started and end up eating dirt because of it.

^ Hunter Engineer has Carnage?

It has Incinerate which is the same thing just better.

I said it already that I don't care about that. Playstyle-wise it's the same only weaker.

What if 63 grenades aren't enough for me?

Yeah, you're entitled to your opinion, but acting like part of the discussion never happened and then simply dissing it when it's pointed out to you isn't participating in the discussion, it's just telling everyone what they should think.

post-37094-Tom-Cruise-WHAT-gif-Oblivion-

No, really...

post-37094-Tom-Cruise-WHAT-gif-Oblivion-

I said at least 5 separate occasions that IT'S MY OPINION. I didn't dissmis anything, I didn't ignore anything, I didn't force my opinion on anyone.

Since nobody actually disproved what I said, which is that the Soldier can't have a unique playstyle that's better than the other 2 Vorcha or the Geth I stand by it. I'm not trashing the Soldier here, I would be the most happy if someone would show me a Soldier build that's not a gimped GT or Sentinel or Engineer.

And no, detonation with power instead of grenade is not a different playstyle, not for me anyway. You do the same thing: prime with Flamer then detonate with CG or Carnage. How is that different?

The Sentinel is more powerful because he can get killstreaks with those Cluster nades - even I've managed to do it, especially with the Venom - charge Venom, run in to spawn, lick everything with flame, toss 2 nades, run away and admire the killfeed.

But the Soldier is one of my kits of choice for pugging because I put the CSMG on him and I don't care about ammo boxes or grenade users in the lobby, and he doesn't even need good equipment (whereas the Sentinel does need top level equipment to shine). Put on Expert package and some incendiary or Disruptor ammo and he's good to go. I used the Soldier a lot when I was poor and had low level gear on my Xbox account, and I never cared what kind of lobby I found myself in, I was ready to flame and claw and scream my way through as many enemies as possible :)

I pretty much agree with this.  The Soldier is very fun to play, just spray a bunch of stuff with Flamer (only a second or two is necessary), shoot a little, fire a Carnage, and then shoot/melee/dodge until you're ready to spray Flamer again.  I find the Talon works very well with this setup, because it strips shields well, and you will be spending a lot of time in CQC anyway.  Plus, the time it takes to empty the mag is pretty close to the cooldown on Carnage, so you can easily hide your reloads with Flamer without losing a ton of time.  You can be dishing out constant damage.  Plus, if you use AP or Drill rounds, you can slap on the pistol melee mod.

I don't know, the Vorcha Soldier dance around your enemies style seems pretty unique enough to me. While with the Sentinal, you miss out on a lot of this due to lolCluster Nades to solve all problems.

This pretty much sums it up.  The Sentinel is always going to be more effective, because Cluster Grenades.  But it lends itself to lazy gameplay, because a quick Flamer spray and a couple of Cluster Grenades will pretty much wipe out a whole spawn.  The Soldier forces you to work for the kills, making the gameplay more fun.

I like the soldier because I like non-stop fire explosions but don't like ammo boxes.

Then some L2P is in order. Maybe some fruit of the clue tree.

I've just realised I'm actually defending the use of Flamer. I take back everything I've said in this thread.

What if you want to fire explode everything, even every lone husk that keeps spawning in front like a tango line.

I find both dull, play the soldier long enough to do flamer for Tech Mastery, play the Sentinel for a few extractions

pick one

oh and those two kits are identical except that the Sentinel is equal or better in every way, because Cluster Nades are OP and Carnage is one of the worst powers there is.

What part of me mentioning 9 grenades and 6 thermal clip packs implies I'm against that? My point is about needing more than that + what you get from ammo boxes, especially considering you've also got flamer.

Out of curiosity, what grenades were being spammed, and with what kit?

Don't know how relevant this is to the soldier vs. sentinel discussion, but I just landed in a game where someone played an unusual, no-flamer soldier build. This was mostly a melee build - which took a lot of finesse for closing distances and dancing around big units- complemented by a wraith and inc ammor to prime + detonate (carnage too of course). I assume bloodlust was specced for melee and speed. Interesting wrinkle, the kit used armor comparments, and at the beginning of non-obj waves, he would use a missile to get the bloodlust stack going (didn't really aim for killstreaks either, and this was on glacier, so def not scoremongering). The guy did really well with it, this was on Gold vs. Reapers, so the map helped him, though I guess there are better factions to play with as a melee kit.

So, if you don't like to flame everything, or would like to inject some diversity in your vorchas (and have the engineer specced for non-melee), this is an interesting build that seems to work on gold; not easy to pull off, but looked lke a lot of fun!

Sentinel is more enjoyable because cluster nades ragdoll in addition to guaranteed fire explosions, sendingf flaming enemies all over the map...

Oh wait it's just Sinful sh*tposting again, nevermind.

Interesting! I had never seen a flamerless vorcha in the wild until today; amusingly, I happened to be a flamer vorcha soldier in the game I mentioned, so quite the parallelism going on :)  "My" no-flamer vorcha went a lot more for melee, which I found to be an interesting enough game style to post about it in this thread.

Personally, I would never have the restrain of speccing out of flamer on the sentinel: vorchas are the oppressed scum of the galaxy, handing one of them two super-damaging powers that combine to make big flaming BOOOMS, then taking one of them off seems like canceling some kids' christmas to me :P
