How about a Keep defense mode?

It could be a blend of Capture and Horde mode, where you essentially need to keep an enemy faction from taking over the Keep you and your teammates are holding. There would be 10 waves of enemies to hold off, with the last wave containing the faction boss. The Keep could use the in-game SP assets for map design. There would be 4 sections of it that need to be held (starting from the bottom, all the way to the top). The first three sections require that you keep the enemy from destroying reinforced barricades, while the last section - at the very top of the Keep - would require you to keep enemies away from the Keep flag (they'd have to occupy the space for a period of time). There would be other friendly NPC's in there with you to establish a feeling of the Keep being fortified, in addition to providing some aggro dumping. For every three waves, a health font will spawn for all players to use. Potentially, the Keep may also contain traps that the player can use against the enemy.

Periodically, a unique enemy unit will appear in two waves of the match. These units don't stay for too long, but killing them rewards players with extra gold and possibly an item. As a result, it is also much tougher than those of its class type. Speaking of results, you would gain a higher amount of gold and experience depending on how well you were able to keep the enemy at bay. Maybe you could also receive items from friendly NPC's if you keep them alive long enough.

I really like the idea. But I'd propose it in a slightly different way.  your joining a keep to keep it from falling so you start out in the keep interior or top of the keep and successfully removing ways of enemies.  And then you work your way out to the walls of the keep.  Have the boss battle end up being in the main courtyard or perhaps at the gates to finish off the siege.

The Other option would be like you said and kind of make it a Horde mode.  Maybe make an interesting map and give a few points you have to protect and the party have to move back and fourth defending off differing groups of enemies until a big baddy shows up.

Could also work.  :)

Being a Battlefield player, I kinda like their Rush Mode.  Perhaps this could be worked into this thread's idea, or a different mode of play altogether.

Basically, horde waves rushing into to capture the keep.  Hold them off as long as you can.  Let's say there are 3-5 Rush points, starting outside the keep and working their way back into the Keep.  We hold the line as best we can at each Rush point.  As players die, they cannot be revived, but simply spawn at the next Rush point, eagerly awaiting more battle.  Players still alive at the active Rush point keep going until they're all down.  Next Rush point becomes active.  On and on, until either A) enemy defeats agents and captures Keep or B) Agents able to defeat enemies, Keep secured.

Anyhow, Rush Mode with a DAIMP twist.  Perhaps it could be called "Hold The Line" mode.

Good idea but the limiting factor here is whether the potatos PS3/XB360 could handle it. bioware will not implement something in game unless all platforms can get it.

Isn't Fereldon castle horde mode as is, with waves of enemies spawning in and rushing against the party in a fortified castle, while receiving siege support (dragon).

Do want.

Though coldflame has a point, the old girls may not have the horsepower.

Instead of a castle defense, we should have a concert mode where players fend off rabid Orlesian nobles rushing NPC ZITHER! - everytime he plays a song the crowd goes wild with the corresponding buff.

And anyone that makes it to the end get a cut of the fat ticket sales gold. Bonus for choreographing pyrotechnics and FX effect from the players!

(Optional bosses include Mother Giselle that revive enemy with her songs)

Pretty much this.

I've said before that unless Bioware are willing to cut off the PS3/XB360 into a separate support stream, other platforms are going to be limited in what extra stuff they'll get.

Caps on enemies, AI, map complexity, new modes, etc are all going to be design-limited by the lowest common denominator.

There's two ways other companies have handled this:  you get Blizzard with Diablo3 , and they basically said "you get less" to the past-gen consoles.  And as compensation offer things like double XP and gold weekends, when PC/PS4/XBone get new content.

Or like Arrowhead Game Studios with Helldivers, and really cut down the graphical side, to reclaim resources back for other areas.  With Vita and PS3 having essentially the same gameplay experience as the PS4, but worse loading times and shiny-shiny graphics - this way also allowed them have cross-play with all platforms in the same lobby/games at once.

But yes, nice idea for a Keep defence mode...

Isn't this just the part 5 of every operation, except the Boss doesn't immediately appear and you have to worry about the flag?

Now, attacking a fort in MP, there's something I would enjoy.

It would be the ME3 MP style approach

YES. If the map is big enough maybe this would give us an excuse to collect mounts in multiplayer? I love the feeling of riding into battle with some buddies. This might be the perfect setting to present the need for a mount if we have to race across a battlefield to defend a capture point. Just a short spurt of speed needed... That would be awesome

Would you rather have a clear objective such as defend the flag for 10 waves or an endless horde mode that just ramps difficulty forever?

Endless Horde!!!

I would be more than happy with either.

Endless is more a challenge, if we get fixed wave, with the time everyone will run it over, and people will ditch it because its just... a 10 wave thing.

But an Endless increasing difficulty is rightly amazing, because doesn't matter how strong a team is, they will die. And that the only thing that can be guaranteed.

People will want to go further and further to test themselves, no ending and a dead will turn this mod, in the best map on November's patch!

I think the community response should be an indicator of that, rather than myself. I'm fine with either one personally. TBH, I'm shocked that you're even considering this; and it's f***ing awesome.
