How about a Keep defense mode?

It could be a blend of Capture and Horde mode, where you essentially need to keep an enemy faction from taking over the Keep you and your teammates are holding. There would be 10 waves of enemies to hold off, with the last wave containing the faction boss. The Keep could use the in-game SP assets for map design. There would be 4 sections of it that need to be held (starting from the bottom, all the way to the top). The first three sections require that you keep the enemy from destroying reinforced barricades, while the last section - at the very top of the Keep - would require you to keep enemies away from the Keep flag (they'd have to occupy the space for a period of time). There would be other friendly NPC's in there with you to establish a feeling of the Keep being fortified, in addition to providing some aggro dumping. For every three waves, a health font will spawn for all players to use. Potentially, the Keep may also contain traps that the player can use against the enemy.

Periodically, a unique enemy unit will appear in two waves of the match. These units don't stay for too long, but killing them rewards players with extra gold and possibly an item. As a result, it is also much tougher than those of its class type. Speaking of results, you would gain a higher amount of gold and experience depending on how well you were able to keep the enemy at bay. Maybe you could also receive items from friendly NPC's if you keep them alive long enough.

Would you rather have a clear objective such as defend the flag for 10 waves or an endless horde mode that just ramps difficulty forever?

I think the community response should be an indicator of that, rather than myself. I'm honestly shocked that you're even commenting on this; and it's f***ing awesome.

We try not to comment on things that are not guaranteed so people don't get let down if we have to change our minds for whatever reason (there are MANY reasons why features or changes get cut). That said this is something I personally want to do so I'm going to attempt it on my own time. I was thinking a big arena/coliseum/slave pits type venue.
