...  they should simply copy/paste what WarFrame is doing. ...

Obviously if you die, you should not get any lewt (the entire system is about knowing when to quit)

Warframe changed that a while back.  You now keep all loot from wave bonus'.  But yes bailing out means you leave gracefully at a set point.

We try not to comment on things that are not guaranteed so people don't get let down if we have to change our minds for whatever reason (there are MANY reasons why features or changes get cut). That said this is something I personally want to do so I'm going to attempt it on my own time. I was thinking a big arena/coliseum/slave pits type venue.

Dear Luke,

I represent Zither!, currently Agent of the Inquisition, with a strong emphasis on crowd control and big entertainment potential. Which in turn can mean earnings. That's right! Not earrings! Yes, he cuts off heads right now, or something - but he's really better in bringing a crowd to boil and riot.

In short: I represent a star who is willing to do BUSINESS for you. Unfortunately, our current situation does not allow for the organization of large public events and places available to us simply could not hold the number of people we have targetted. That's where you come in. We've heard you are very capable in shaping premises that could be suited for large epic events and we hear you possess channels to promote the event, too.

I'd be happy hearing from you and hope to have piqued your interest. Zither! usually comes with a gang of 3 additional band members - you can leave the composition entirely up to us.

Yours truly,

Catastrophy

(Yes, I know, I need a better name for this job - just imagine what it's going to be if you turn down Zithers! offer)

PS: If all goes well, I think I can give you a cut of the undies thrown on stage. What..? Troll undies? ... I guess we could work it out - Zither! is a Rocker after all!

I would love the endless horde mode but one thing to think about is sometimes RL gets in the way and I could see time being a factor. You need a way to bow out without screwing/delaying the party. As there are some days I could do a 3 hour long horde mode but sometimes I don't have that luxury. I could see high promoted teams going for really long times.

Also, there needs to be enough variation each time you play so that you do not become bored if you play multiple times and there has to be a way to set the initial difficulty if possible so that teams who have trivialized perilous don't sit there for 20 waves on things that are weak and boring before they actually start getting a challenge.

Agreed, although they should simply copy/paste what WarFrame is doing.

You do 5 waves, then have the option of getting lewt, or leaving. The longer you stay, the better lewt you are offered for leaving.

Obviously if you die, you should not get any lewt (the entire system is about knowing when to quit)

Which brought us back to an old pic of mine:

Both would be great, but if I had to choose, I'd say objectives. I'd love a defend the keep mode.

Zone 1: defend the battlements. Enemies swarm up ladders at random points around the walls. Oil traps and ballistae available to help out. Features a mini boss.

Zone 2: take out the enemy siege weapons. Lead a sortie via one of those secret exits/sewers to take out as many trebuchets as you can. Inquisition allies try to hold the walls while you do this, but will eventually be overwhelmed, creating a timer. You can split your party to leave someone to help them out, extending the timer.

Zone 3: defend the inner gate. The outer door was breached by a druffalo. Hold the inner gate against the enemy vanguard. Features a mini boss.

Zone 4: stop the enemy sappers. The enemy try to set up lyrium explosives to make breaches in the inner fort walls. These are marked on the minimap.

Zone 5: If you took out all the trebuchets and enemy sappers in zones 2/4, you lead a counter-attack to defeat the enemy general in the courtyard.

If you didn't do enough, then you retreat to the throne room to hold that until reinforcements arrive.

Fight the boss either way.

How will you know that two days have passed?

Because Dwarves invented wrist watches that all dwarven warriors wear while in battle. It's lyrium powered and is attached directly to the right gauntlet. This allows a warrior to have some sense of the time while minimizing exposure and all while ensuring that even the most basic parts of the Dwarven War Machine run smoothly and without incident.

I would add, it would be great if you had to move around the map. Preventing camp spots ect...

Not sure if you have played Jaws of Hakkon but they could add the ice damage/brazier mechanic to prevent camping spots.

Players have to fight near a lit brazier or suffer ice damage. Except for the first brazier, each brazier can only be lit for a limited amount of time. So they either have to push on and light the next brazier or go back to relight the previous brazier. If they missed the timing, they have to go all the way back to the first brazier. It's an endless wave that only ends after the last brazier is lit.

For the final level, it could be similar to the boss level in Jaws of Hakkon DLC where there are several static torches spread around the map and players have to fight near a lit torch. A lit torch won't last long so again someone has to ensure that at least 1 torch stays lit. Level ends when the boss dies.

If the team doesn't have dps/survivability to push to the next brazier, there could be mechanics in place to help them do that. There could be alternative secret passageways which one guy can take to light the next brazier and then stealth/fallback plan to safety. Force the other 3 members to stay by making the enemies extinguish the brazier if they get close. If the brazier is extinguished, all active torches are extinguished as well. There could be points where, like how you stop darkspawn caves in SP, you can detonate that point and stop enemies from spawning from that spot. Players could ping the area for bomb materials. If they collect enough of them, they can get a 1-time nuke. There could be Andraste's statues or something and if you activate enough of them, you get a 1-time temporary buff for the entire party.

Would you rather have a clear objective such as defend the flag for 10 waves or an endless horde mode that just ramps difficulty forever?

The former. It is with more satisfaction while the latter one always ends with being defeated. And the latter one could be tedious. But the latter one could be something like weekly challenge.

By the way, how about making it more relative to the breach in the sky, or at least some rifts  ? That's good for the story.

Both in one,

10 waves of survival, after defeating the boss you get to either back out with or by gathering at the flag for wave 11 (in 30seconds after finishing) where you fight endless enemies until you can't fight any more.

every enemy/boss killed rewards gold (1-5 or whatever), and every x number of enemies/bosses killed rewards an item of gradually increasing level and rarity over time.

endless wave would start with foot soldiers and gradually they would be replaced with tougher units, sub bosses, and finally bosses would begin appearing in the waves.

Revenants everywhere

the first ten waves would have the lions share of the loot, and would be better to grind for purely gold and xp reasons, but the endless mode would have better odds of high rarity items, at the cost of being slow and very tough to get far enough into for the best drops.

Looks like it's unlikely to happen at this point. I'm still very satisfied with everything you've done for the MP :)

if they do implement a hoard mode it would need to be for 8 players have unlimited revives and increase health potions to 20 for the mini game on a completely separate map with zero fonts and just a count down between waves, set one for each difficulty and you have to hold out in the room, maximum of 20 waves with loot awarded from wave 3 onwards, and no wall hacking emissary or despair cheapness either, if the mooks want to whack you they have to be in the room, or at the very least in the doorway, you can have it so the doorway has a small area outside it but your teams job is to hold the room so someone can go Rambo around but if the team doesn't keep at least one person alive in the room then they fail

I think a timed keep defense mode rather than a new stage based map would be refreshing. Endless enemies, increasing in difficulty over time with maybe a few objectives thrown in- all in a ten minute frame. If you live, you fight some kind of boss wave to finish.

If they lack resources to create a new map, why not repurpose the griffon wing keep or parts of the adamant fortress maps. It would make sense lore wise since these are now inquisition property and likely to face attacks and raids.

I love the multiplayer. I just want more loot, and a mount-inclusive mode... Heck id love split screen, but it's so unlikely.
