DA:O romance scenes were hilariously awkward. They did a whole lot better in DA 2 and Inquisition. Neither of those games made me want to laugh my ass off.

Also, I just googled that Ride to Hell Retribution and I can't believe a game that sh*tty was ever made. The sex scenes are the funniest thing ever!

They apparently had more of that game planned too  :D

DA is ahead of ME in my opinion. In ME sex was mandatory in a romance, where DA finally has it as either optional or ambiguous for some romances.

Well we most likely disagree on this. romance - sex = friendship. My male mage felt more closer to Solas as friend then Josephine as romance.Or Inquisitor with Sera sitting on the roof talking and eating felt more closer then Josephine.

I think they did a better job with companion interactions overall in Inquisition. The scene with Sera on the roof is one of my favorite bonding moments in the whole game. I never really felt like I could connect to Cullen, Leliana or Josie, it always seemed too awkward and business-like for me.  I felt like my companions were all close friends with my Inquisitor but the advisors always felt more like I was their boss.

I think they did a great job with the romances and possible sex scenes. I liked how each was unique to the character. And for me it was just enough nudity--when there was nudity.

Well I like boobs I can't lie. Cass end scene was good. Not just boob part all. But this was better then all DA:I romance scenes. or i am just

Maybe Inquisitor and Josephine just need TV instead of fireplace  . I need to ask Solas if we can use fade to make TV.

I still think it was done great.

I like how 9TailsFox is complaining about Josephine's romance while hailing ME3 Liara's romance when they were written and animated by the same two people. I find the irony funny.  :P

I forgot about that Tali scene. I miss being able to enjoy her romance. :(

I do agree that for sex scenes ME3 Liara is a great template to follow.

Yes, we disagree on that equation.

The ME3 ending made me drop the game before I got to Citadel, but I swear, if any person just randomly broke into song like that Tali video my sarcasm scale would so spectacularly break that it would take actual divine intervention for that relationship to survive the evening.

Don't get me wrong - everything else about the scene is really cute. But that singing. Jesus.

I've heard of that singing scene, but I never got around to looking it up. I should be glad that Tali was never available to my FemShep. I'm sure some part of my mind that loves the game would have gone haywire.

Edit: just watched. Jebus X Cristos. Y u gotta hurt me like this?

My singing voice is horrible and you offended me.  And this is not the point how good Tali is at singing.

Maybe the point it's trying to get across is that love is corny as hell.

i liked the singing. but what i thought was really sweet was Shep's reaction to it. it was a very indulgent and sweet reaction. it was the clearly the reaction of a man in love. Tali singing along, and knowing all the words, was just one of the things that made him love her more.

sometimes it's the goofy stuff that makes you fall in love.

I fail to see your mental gymnastics, how is it relevant that 2  different character are made by same people. David Gaider write Morrigan and I love Morrigan. He write Cass to, but I don't like her as much. You realise you saying if you like chocolate made buy company you must like coffee made by same company it just don't make sense.  :P

I don't really see the irony, and I also like Liara's romance while am indifferent to Josephine's. The level of story content Liara gets all around puts her in an entirely different league compared to Josephine, so it's not really a fair comparison at all. Even in the game where Liara is not a part of Shepard's Normandy crew, she still gets to be a temporary companion on what is arguably one of the best DLC's in the series.

Putting aside the actual sex part, Liara also has more moments of drama with Shepard, which is not really the case with Josephine, at least nowhere to the extent we see in the series. Say what one will of her character in general, but I really enjoyed the dialogue between her and Shepard on the roof of that building after killing Vasir. We don't really have moments with Josephine where there's a bit more fire in their dialogue as the situation gets heavy.

How about a sex mini-game? You have press buttons at the right time to perform well and gain more approval, and if you really suck the romance ends.

Fahrenheit / Indigo Prophecy has such a mini-game. I didn't realise what it was (thought it's a cutscene) until I picked up the action hint and watched the event (from a distance).   I've always wondered what happens if I flup it, does the girlfriend throw something at the protagonist? Say something or leaves in a huff.

Gotta agree with Inverse_Twilight: The Companion romances were much better than the Advisor ones. (Well, since I've only played Fem!IQs I'm not sure about Cassi's.)  And the look on their faces when Bull opens the boss's bedroom door while starkers was brilliant!

You know, I love Tali, and I love her romance. But holy crap. That singing, I was literally cringing while watching it. I was trying so hard to like it, but I couldn't. I love every other aspect of her romance that I've seen...except that...

Liara, being the Dev Pet is of course done basically perfectly, I cannot make a single complaint about all of Liara's romance. it just flows so naturally through the 3 games. I always had the impression that even if your with someone else in the series, she is still in love with you regardless. It just works effortlessly. Using her as inspiration is a great place to start for any RPG, imo.

Now, I admit being denied my lovely Aveline Vallen left me totally devastated for a long while. Even OOCly I was obsessed with her, I wanted her so bad I wrote a steamy fan fiction about her before the game even came out. However, Cassandra, for me at least was without question the best DA romance I've gotten. She clicked with me like nothing else. I myself am not very PC, I am blunt and difficult, but inside I myself am more. I understood her so well it was like it was made for me. Even her weird morbid pillow talk makes sense for her. As she said, she does not swoon.

I told this before game even released Advisers romance will be lac-cluster, everyone say wait until game released. But I don't need wait I was right. I first romanced Josephine and regretted, Second romanced Cass and regretted even more I for romancing Josephine. Cass >>>>>   Josephine. It's just not the same Cass have like double content Josephine have if not more. + all content in the world. You just can't do justice to character who sits in skyhold and just literally do paperwork. i don't know about Cullen who romanced him dos he have less content as companions?

I loved the Tali singing. Well, not the singing itself... But it it represented, if you figure it out. It shows Tali is really really comfortable with Shepard and her relationship now, she isn't afraid to do embarrassing things in front of him that she wouldn't be caught dead doing with anyone else because she knows he loves her no matter what. It shows Shepard doesn't mind her weirder quirks like badly singing a song she holds dear. And I think you're supposed to feel like Shepard probably did, which was finding it ridiculous and funny, and the paragon and renegade choice is pretty much "you are just adorable and I didn't know you loved this movie so much" to "you have a cross-species fetish". So either way Shepard learns something new about his girlfriend, and shows he is accepted of even her awkward parts like her fangirl-ing over that song.

All in all, it is multifaceted enough to be amazing once you understand the layers of it.

Correct, she is a Companion.  Which is why I had to exclude her when stating that I liked the relationships with the Companions better than the ones with the Advisors,

I have no first-hand experience of how things are with Cassi.  Were I to attempt it though, I might find that I preferred the relationship with Josie to one with her -- contradicting my earlier observation.  ;)
