So now you are saying that Bioware needs to put out games that many adult can't play. Many adults have kids. Can they be careful about certain scenes? Yes they can. Are they possible buyers and does Bioware want to cut them out? This market may not be interested in Cyber AIs getting it on. Bioware may still want to sell to them.

Your answer is to cut that group out. Less dollars for Bioware. Good thing you don't control their marketing.

First off what do you expect from a M-rated game. If your kids being exposed to things is your concern, then perhaps you shouldnt be buying M-rated games.

Also you failed to answer his question. It is the end of the world if your kid sees female breast but when Leliana slices someone's throat that is fine?

Again, it just seems as if people want to single out sexual content. Blood and violence as well as drinking us ok but sexual isnt?

First off my kids don't play these games. Never said they did. Clearly stated parents can be careful. That was answered. They can play while kids are NOT watching. I also clearly stated this group may not be interested in AIs getting it on.

So these parents will not have the kids watch it, BUT they are not interested in AI cyber sex. What part of that is hard to understand.

Your comment: " then perhaps you shouldnt be buying M-rated games"

It is up to Bioware to make that decision. If they turned it into a sex game, then I wouldn't be interested.

so without reading the thread

can someone tell me why it's so important for bioware games to have full blown sex scenes

because i mean i dunno, the way they do things now it's not like it diminishes the romances just because the scenes are more "tasteful" and leave more to the imagination. plus seeing characters banging would probably fall in to uncanny valley territory and just look a mixture of hilarious and awkward to look at.

It looks as if some people need more sex in their game, but not all do. I agree there is a point where this becomes tasteless.

OMG would you people just come back down to Earth? You all act like people who are open to liberal vizualiztion of sexual content in videogames is essentially wanting porn in videogames. I am not saying that I want 5 minute sex scenes in videogames where the male is doing hardcore thrusting while the female is doing exaggerated moans all while the camera showing actual penetration. No, we are not calling for that.

What we are talking about is examples such as The Witcher 3 where sex scenes are a bit more liberal than what we get in DAI, but still tasteful and not over the top and handled with the appropriate context of the game/characters. A new Mario game on the WiiU that features a sex scene with Mario and Princess Toadstool might not make sense but Geralt in Witcher 3 having sex with Triss makes sense because of the context of the game in which CD Projekt Red established and the maturity level/tone of the game's atmosphere as well as the dynamic between the two characters. Mass Effect 3 "Underwear" style sex would just be silly in the world of Witcher 3 but it made sense in Mass Effect 3 and would be outright distasteful in a Mario/Zelda game.

Seriously guys, Starship Troopers featured nudity (Unisex shower scene) and a sex scene with nudity in it. So does that mean that Starship Troopers was a porno flick?

At the end of the day I think it all boils down to how society positions sex. Again, I can sit there and watch an action movie where every other guy is being shot, broken head, blown up etc and that is okay in the sense of social acceptance. I can be watching Robocop (1984) and see people snorting cocaine, a male tell females to "B****** leave!", man get shot in both knees then blown up in his house all in the same scene......someone walks in seeing me watch this scene and nothing is wrong or uncomfortable. However I am watching an intense sex scene and someone walks in and now all of a sudden it turns into an awkward/borderline guilty pleasure situation.

We really put a taboo on sex to the point where it is seen as "perverted" to talk about sex and what not.

Going back to DAI. Nobody mentioned the fear of their kids walking into the room while Leliana slices a religious women's neck. Nobody mentioned the fear of kids walking into the room while the hero on screen is (Nathan Drake in Uncharted) is running around shooting other humans with automatic weapons. But Lord BEHOLD! if they see breast on screen!!!!

I applaud Bioware for being forward thinkers and VERY progressive when it comes to the portrayal of LGBT characters in videogames in a realistic/non caricature way and I hope that other developers especially CDPR and Rockstar takes note of this. I also like how CDPR is VERY progressive when it comes to the portrayal of nudity in videogames in a realistic/non-adolescent way and again, I hope other developers of M-rated games follow suit. A game does not NEED nudity to tell a realistic story. It does not NEED nudity to create a mature tone for the game. However, nudity if used to add realism/darker tone to a videogame should not be seen as perverted and childish either.

Finally, I believe that it is just the nature of the times. Twenty years ago no developer would THINK about showing nudity in their games, especially back then. I still remember the uproar about the Sega Genesis version of Mortal Kombat featuring blood and back then that was such a "progressive" stance for videogames. Now people don't even think twice when they see blood in videogames because it has evolved from being just a child's hobby to a medium that can not only be enjoyed by adults, but actually geared towards adults. I wouldn't say that nudity is the new "blood" in videogames today because MANY games features male/female nudity. But there will be a time when discussions like this would not occur as nudity in videogames would be fully accepted....just like blood in videogames is today.

Pot calling the kettle black.

I don't think YOU are understanding the points people have made nor the reason for the gif.

Perhaps some education on the difference between porn and love making is a good start for you. Then you can come back and provide some logic and diplomatic reasons into your view point. As of right now all I am seeing is a hypocritical non-sense that has been repeated numerous times in your attempt to add anything of merit to this conversation.

I read your post.

Your comment: "focus entirely on the EDI/Joker relationship" has nothing to do with it".

All of this is AIs making out. If you see love, than you have an excellent imagination. I congratulate you.

I only see a conversation tree that leads to a cut scene. I don't have your imagination. All the characters are AIs to me. I'm just playing for the builds and story. I also don't play much. There is a market that may like the story, builds and smashing heads but don't want more time Al nudity.

Your comment: "We really put a taboo on sex to the point where it is seen as "perverted" to talk about sex and what not."

No we don't. I'm all for the real thing.  I feel we should practice the real thing often.

I just play the game for a different purpose. To me it is just a conversation tree that leads to a cut scene. I really don't need to see the cartoon thing.

There is the problem. You see LOVE. Many just see it as a game. This isn't real love to us at all. It is just a conversation tree.

Your comment:"As of right now all I am seeing is a hypocritical non-sense that has been repeated numerous times in your attempt to add anything of merit to this conversation."

So save yourself time in understanding one thing. Most people can care less what you are saying to them if you resort to name calling.

I wouldn't say blood is fully accepted in video games today. There wouldn't be options to turn the blood and gore off in some even rated Mature video games if it was. Even violence is not fully accepted in video games, since there are rated Mature games that allow non-violent approaches to the game for people who don't like killing. Why do that if everybody is okay with it? Likewise, I don't see a day where nudity is fully accepted in video games.

I can only think of two times in Inquisition when "the F bomb" get's used, and both of them are Blackwall.

Iron Bull and Sera also say it. If Bull is in the party in the hissing wastes, he'll say it when the chantry sister disappears, and again if made tal-vashoth. Sera says it in the fade and again if you break up with her.

These parents should never play game "for adults" in front of their children in the first place... That is really weird argument why games should not have sexual content :D But one more think - cutting someone's throat is OK for children in your eyes?

So now we're not only telling them what they should think, but what games they should or should not play, all so you can get what, surrogate sex? It's ironic that I just got up from the TV, and The Expendables was coming on and there was a warning that it contains violent content that may not be suitable for children, parental discretion is advised.

Love making is what I did in my bedroom back when I was married. Porn is what we did on the couch, or the living room floor when her daughter was at my mom's, or brother's for the weekend, none of which is required in a video game. But you're right about one thing, some education is needed in this conversation; but it's you in need of the education. I'll note that one of my posts went completely ignored in this thread, because people like you were what, too educated to understand it? So I'll repeat it here:

I understand realism is important. I believe the core problem is why a person plays. It is a game to me. I never see the characters as real. You follow a conversation tree to get the results you want. That is not real. I don't play the game for that.

You are still stuck on the porn topic.

Going back to my example about Starship Troopers. It featured a shower scene in a unisex shower room with nake males and females. It also featured a mildly nude sex scene. So does that make Starship Troopers a softcore porn movie? When my parents took me to see the movie back in the day, should they be arrested for taking a child to a pornography movie? If I ever want to buy the movie on blu-ray, should I search for it under the "Adult Entertainment" category? Because by your definition, if something has sexual content in it, then it is classified as pornography.

I wasn't being serious, hence the rolling eyes. I've just had that argument used when talking about sex scenes, or rather Josephine's romance not having one thus it "isn't a real relationship" and instead is "friendzone". So I posted that in jest.

Parents should indeed exercise discretion. That that even comes into question boggles my mind. However, denying someone the ability to play a game because they have kids isn't something I'm down with. So no, I'm not really agreeing with the premise.

You are still stuck on the porn topic.

The amount of nudity in Starship Troopers is roughly represented in Inquisition, so what is this example supposed to demonstrate? This point might maybe be valid, if we're discussing Origins' sex scenes, or DA 2's, but we're not. So reel in the hyperbole, and look at what we're actually discussing. So, what would more nudity/sex bring to the game? Address this point, if you want to address anything, because if you can convince me it's more than softcore porn, I may very well agree. However, at this juncture, all I see is "there's not enough naked bits, and we want more. Anyone that disagrees is a hypocrite, and needs to be educated.", which is great for mudslinging, but doesn't really address the issue of why it needs to have it. Is it too embarrassing to answer or something?

How people have sex can be quite illustrating of their character and arc. The apparent SM scene with IB being the sole attempt by Bioware to do this mind you and partly played for laughs, but still a character movement versus just pixels. It fits a lot with his character (see him wanting to get hit to work out his feelings about the Abyss quest).
