Once again, I tried a melee vorcha today, and once again I failed miserably. At first I tried using a Graal, but that failed horribly, as aiming at heads while dodging around like a pyjak on fire was nearly impossible. Then I switched to a Venom for epic staggers...only to find it kill everything before I could melee anything :/
It seems to me that the melee on them is too slow and too weak to do anything significant, even with maximum bloodlust and fitness. It can't even oneshot shielded mooks on gold, the health regen is insignificant compared to the power of a half dozen mooks shooting at you, and you have to kill three enemies first just to get your maximum boost!
This is the build I ended up with; my theory was that I could trap an enemy and kill the others while they were stunned from the shock net. The problem was that I didn't even need to melee them at all; once they got hit by the net, they all died fairly promptly, especially after the venom shot to keep them stunned and from instantly overwhelming my health regen.
I don't know why I'm so terrible. Plz Halp.
How do I melee vorcha?

Kay, you can hate me for saying this, but I'm still beautiful.
I found, in my personal opinion, that the most fun I had playing a melee vorcha...
was on lolSilver.
...
Really.
You can just chain entire spawns and not die. You can play like a maniacal hellspawn and really you're pretty much invincible if you're used to golds/platinums. It was just, fun.
I just couldn't make a pure melee build operate on higher difficulties reliably. (Sure someone has.)
I think I equipped Falcon for a reliable stun that would leave me something to punch my way through. I ramped the hell out of syncs and generally enjoyed myself.

Well the only way to melee a vorcha would be in Mass Effect 2, so I guess this is the wrong section for this thread

Try just regular light melee every now and then too. It's fun.
The only other thing I can thing of is maxing their speed via Bloodlust and Aden Mod 3.
There's also 2 Vorcha Hunter melee vids by Peddro that I'm sure someone will link if not linked already.

I agree with everything you said about Silver - if you're used to Gold or Plat, you can melee absolutely everything on Silver and have a riot. Doing so on Gold will probably just get you killed.
That said, I still try it, though I find the Vorcha Soldier is the best of the three if you really want to focus on melee. To do so with the Sentinel would be gimping yourself deliberately, and the SubNet animation on the Engineer is too slow for close quarters. So on the Soldier I tried a 66606 build with a Piranha/Disciple and Omniblade a few times, but ultimately gave up on the 'pure melee' approach, as I needed a little more weapon damage. I tried skipping Carnage and using the Raider but I missed my Fire Explosions too much, and it just felt like a Sentinel with no grenades.
I now just use either the BPP or CSMG (the former due to Marksmad, as I acknowledged yesterday, while I see he uses the latter too), and time my melee to finish them off - either light or heavy as required. The Talon makes a perfectly good alternative which can deal with Shields and boost his melee a bit. 66644 (with melee options) seems to work fine, with an Adrenaline mod. He's never going to be as powerful as the Sentinel, but at least he feels different played this way.

Hm, I specced a vorcha (I think soldier) once for full melee, took a Claymore and tried it out. It's difficult to stick to melee on gold with them. Adrenaline helps a bit for closing gaps but it's quite map dependend - the smaller maps are a lot better for melee and breaking LoS. But there I often get stuck on object edges when doging with the Vorcha.
In the end I used the Claymore most of the time, squeezing in the occasional melee.

I prefer the soldier for melee and leave the engineer for tech combo-ing stuff.
Here's how I build him - Melee VorSol. I alternate between AP raider and disruptor venom.
Carnage 5b vs. passives 4b was a tough choice but I picked carnage 5b to lower its recharge speed more than passives 4b would've done. I only pulse flamer, so its CD is not a big deal. And I rely mainly on weapon, combos and melee, so I'm okay with giving up passives 4b.
Vorcha have a really good melee - both light and heavy. The light melee is quick and is good for staggering enemies that sneak up on you. Heavy melee has good tracking and beheads enemies. I find that carnage's slow travel time suits well with run towards enemy + execute heavy melee style.
1 or 2 mooks - carnage and/or weapon to stagger/force a dodge; run towards enemy + melee.
Bigger mob - flamer + carnage for FE. Enemies down to health may start doing their panic animation from the flamer DoT, giving you some time to run and melee
Boss(es) - a combination of flamer, carnage and weapon to whittle them down and finish them off with a melee.
I find it important to keep the martial artist active for the vorcha, more so than other melee characters because if you rush to melee, you better finish it. Otherwise, things can get a bit messy.
Obv, more open maps require a bit of caution.
As for weapons, I pick the raider or venom because it forces me to get into melee range. Any shotgun works, but I only use those two now. In the past, everytime I used a shotgun with good range, I was using the weapon way more than melee which kills the uniqueness of this build for me. That's just a personal preference.

Just checked your build. Don't go full melee on Bloodlust. I prefer the speed & melee evolution and weaker health regen evolution. I also use more Incinerate for stagger over the net because the net is too slow for fast Vorcha melee action.

(1) I melee vorcha with a krogan, headbutts vs whooshy super-fast elbow sound effects are jolly good fun.
(2) Vorcha grab melee best choppy choppy in the game.
what was the question again?

And yes between the Soldier and the Sentinel the Soldier is better. Have not yet bothered with the Hunter

I like the sentinel. Use quick blasts of flamer to panic mooks before you lung in. Throw clusters down at your own feet to really disrupt and stagger close quarter enemies. Light melee is very effective at chaining staggers -- use it. Dodge often to get behind cover for a few seconds and get your health back. Keep you venom charged for special occasions. Stand toe to toe with ravagers and banshees; lots of fun even if it's not the most tactical plan.

Use a pistol with the melee stunner. You'll mini-stun on every hit of your combo, letting you go toe to toe with Marauders and win.

Ranyhyn pls. The stunner doesn't actually stun. It's just a pretty animation. The SG Omniblade is the best option for killin' up choose and personal.

Could the Vorcha Counselor please refrain from any further outbursts?
