do we all agree that staffs are by far the most frequent purple dragon weapons ??

I got 4 in a row (now have only 5 purple weapons in total, 4 staffs)

if there are 6 different weapons, chances for that would be
= 1/1296 !!

and there are others that got 8 staffs in a row!
= 1/1679616

this can only mean that there is some kind of odd mechanism behind that, can it?

also, if somebody says he got 4 Daggers in a row.
such things happen too often to be random.

Although I got 4 Staves, I also got 11 Bows. So I would argue Bows are the most common Dragon weapons, though I am not sure whether I got many of them in a row or not.

I got 8 staves in a row before I got anything else, then got 3 bows in a row before I got my daggers, greatsword and sword.

4 staffs, 2 daggers, 1 maul, 1 shield

That's all I have ever gotten

My Virtuoso, Avvar and Duelist are happy though  so I can wait for the rest

I guess all those duplicates in a row really indicate that the chances are NOT "neutral" 1/10 like Drasca said. no offense, just discussing.

Well, the issue here is that your sample size is too small. You have you and maybe 2-3 other people that are having a lot of staffs piled up on them. This is far off a good sample size we need to make any statistically significant statement on the distribution of weapons. For me, the game seems to favour giving me the longsword of the dragon.

It's like the weapon chests. For me, I've already had like 5 LotG, no Sulevin blade. A friend that plays (roughly a much as me, maybe a bit more) has had 2 sulevin blades, no LotG. That doesn't mean that the game is in favour of giving out LotG or anything, it's just that the dice rolled this way for us.

yes, but the few ones that replied here are not the only ones (by far)  that have reported their duplicates here in this Forum.

Well, they are, but not all of them are reporting the staff as the most repeated weapon. And if we assume a 1/10 probability of a dragon weapon, the probability is that people will actually get repeats instead of getting all the various weapons in a row.

Like, let's say that you first get a staff. Your chance for this was 7/7  that it's a unique since it's your first weapon (we're ignoring the drop rate itself). On the second weapon (since those are independent events and your game doesn't care if you'd gotten a staff before) the chance of having a unique weapon again is 6/7. So if we assume 7 weapons in a row, the chance that all of them are unique weapons is 7/7 x 6/7 x 5/7 x 4/7 x 3/7 x 2/7 x 1/7. That equals to 0.01223979804 which means you have 1.224% of getting all different weapons in a row (which is little). Now, that certainly means that you'll (probably) get many repeats before you collect the full set and I don't think it's surprising that we're getting duplicates.

I am not saying that the way Bioware are assigning random dragon weapons is perfectly random. As a matter of fact, it's definitely pseudo random and they may have implemented something wrong. But if  you want to prove that, you're going to need a bigger sample so that it sounds plausible and not just like a tin foil hat situation.

P.S. If you're interested, I also calculated what is the chance to get all dragon weapons in 20 drops. It is 11.8% which should also tell you how bad the situation is.

4 staves, 2 greatswords, 1 dagger. At this point, I'm expecting my next dragon weapon to be a staff.

It'd be nice if the character you played as affected the drop rates. But then, it'd also be nice not to disconnect or CTD after using the gong.

Why is this even a thread? RNG is RNG.

I get a ton of staffs and daggers too.. no swords or mauls.

Also, lately the dragon has been dropping a bunch of purples.. they're just not dragon weapons.  Anyone notice this too?

Anyways, if you get a ton of mauls or swords, speak up... need more data points.

But so far, seems like there may be a glitch with staffs, daggers, and bows.

Should we assume their RNG has no glitches?

20+ this past weekend and received 3 drops on the last 3 dragons I did Sunday night. Guys I play with are sitting on small arsenals of staves, daggers, bows, etc........

RNG right?

I've heard everything from " The number of chests you open increase the odds of getting a purple item" to " The number in the upper right hand corner affects the chances of getting good loot so promote promote promote"

To be honest, i've tried both routes and grinding for promotions has done nothing more than ruin actually playing the characters because all I want to do is reach 20th, flip them and start over. I never really get to enjoy the characters much because of promotions.

Down with Promotions - get rid of that crap and just increase the level cap so we can enjoy our high level characters.

Well, you said that you started playing basically two weeks ago so I assumed you weren't doing perilous dragons. And even on them, it is said that the drop chance is 1/10 so...

P.S. Also, promotions are fun. I used to do it in MP too, even though not that much. Promotions give you more incentive to change around your build, adapt, and have fun. If you don't want to promote, just don't do it that often. If you don't play like crazy, you'll never feel the promotions effect too much anyway.

I got the bow first after about 10 perilous dragons. Then I didn't get anything till I was somewhere around 45 dragons. Then, almost in consecutive matches I got a second bow, the maul, and the greatsword in the span of four or five dragons last night.

I saw around 5 staffs, 7 bows, 4 shields, 2 daggers (finally got my 2nd) a 1h longsword, before I ever saw my 1st 2h. Got the 2h sword yesterday, woot! Still waiting on finding the 2h maul to complete my set! Also, even though the slow animation for maul, and it not being aoe, I think it'll be the best for my Reaver spamming Dragonrage. Hope I get it sometime soon!

What's great about getting multiples of the same weapon, is that there is a wide range of the set damage on them. The last bow I got had 6 more damage than the others I had, the other 6 had between 170-172. The latest bow I got has 178!!!! Maybe if you keep collecting them, they award you with a more powerful version? I'll keep killing dragons!

Of all the new Dragon weapons, I'm most disappointed with the 1h sword and the shield. I feel that Caliban is much better, 7% more heal on kill, and the +5% damage for each enemy within 8 meters makes that weapon much stronger.

The shield is just a joke. It's more a side grade compared to the other 4 unique shields already in my inventory. I bounce between using Shield of the Emperor and March of the Everlasting (combined with Caliban, you're doing a lot more damage on Templar, and fairly well with Lego if you're using offensive abilities)

Because we have reason to believe that it isn't pure RNG.

you saw the odds for getting 8 staves in a row.

chances are higher that the demon commander realizes he needs some pants
