I've been away for awhile.  Anything on the horizon for more DAI content?

No official word. At the Kotaku Q&A, I believe Aaryn Flynn responded to a question asking about Darkspawn and the Deep Roads, and it came across as hinting at something. And then I think another dev tweeted some part of the Chant of Light pertaining to the Ancient Magisters.

That same Kotaku Q&A also featured Mike Laidlaw acknowledging fan demand for more story-driven DLCs as well as reaffirming his awareness of how many players want continuation of the subject brought up in DAI's post-credits scene before DAI's content-complete.

I hope they do something in regards to the post credits scene. It was extremely interesting. I need answers!

I believe a future DLC will be announced on E3.

I hope so, but there's ample evidence to support the belief that DLC will not be announced at E3. With the exception of the absolute biggest IPs, DLC is not generally "big" enough to justify the time spent highlighting it.

Unless I'm mistaken, some players don't even have access to JoH. That DLC comes out for PS3/4 and XB360 on May 26. By the time June rolls around, they will have had a chance to play with it for a while and start looking forward to the next story DLC, though, so maybe it isn't too soon. I wouldn't put money on it.

Not to be a Debbie Downer, but we are on six months since release, how much more dlc can we expect? If we get *any* more at all I will be pleasantly surprised, but anyone expecting more than one might be disappointed.

We're definitely getting at least one more, unless it's cancelled mid-production. We have had it confirmed that it's in progress.

Also, previous successful BioWare efforts (DAO, ME2, ME3) have had DLCs of various types released for upwards of 13-14 months post-launch. This is pretty normal for them.

Also also, I think DAI DLC has been slowed by the number of patches involved. Seven is a lot more than, say, ME3's three.

Correct.

The hope is for them to 'capitalize' on E3 and announce something close to the show's starting date, whether before or after. I think it's reasonable to expect DLC #2 to hit sometime in July, so a June announcement is likely.

Yes, I think so.

Yeah, at a glance I'm thinking two more story DLCs, the first in July and the second around October or so.

It isn't really a question whether or not we'll get the first. It's in the works.

Or they might surprise us with an expansion announcement that covers several story elements in one piece of content. Like Awakening, but without changing our character lineup (hopefully). That would be something that could work as an announcement worthy of E3.

Course let's face it, if they announce some Mass Effect news, as suspected, that will overshadow everything else in these forum circles. Unless they announce the new IP as well and its really awesome.

I hope for this too. I know they've said in the past that an expansion wasn't in the cards, but expansions are enjoying a bit of a comeback, with both Skyrim and TW3 getting large dlc, so you never know! And it seems that DAI was perhaps more successful (at launch anyway) than EA was expecting, which might have changed some minds. Plus, I think that recording new bard songs and having Trevor Morris do new music - that's quite a lot for a short dlc, right?? *Hopeful hat on*

Not for me I don't play ME.

It'd overshadow it for me, no shame there. But since ME4 is likely still a ways away and an expansion would come sooner it wouldn't be a total eclipse.

Anyway, I'm not sure the Morris music and bard songs schtick is really proof of anything. Mass Effect DLCs generally featured several new tracks apiece and new bard songs strikes me as the DAI equivalent of some of the nifty stuff ME3's Citadel DLC achieved.

That DAI is showing no signs of slowing down on its effort to always have new companion dialogue is what really impresses me. Two out of three ME3 DLCs did but one didn't; more to the point, none of ME2's did. It seems like it may be new, wonderful standard operating procedure to do it more often than not.

Bioware has very consistently released DLC for all their games in the last few years at 4 month intervals. DA2 got the least amount of DLC, at 2 (but it was also supposed to get an expansion after that, which was cancelled).

So, I think its pretty much a guarantee that we're going to get at least 2 DLC. And it's not that unlikely that we'll get 3. Jaws of Hakkon came out (for Xbone and PC) at 4 months (March), we'll most definitely get another on at 8 months (July), and optimistically we'll get a third one at 12 months (November).

The DA team has always included new companion dialogue with their DLCs, even going so far as to include additional romance lines for those who pursue that option. It's always been well received, so I can't imagine they would do a 180 on that with DAI's DLC. ;)

I suppose that is true. I kind of forgot about it though since so many of DAO's DLCs didn't feature the gang. :P

The general BW release schedule for DLC since DA:O and ME2 has been, first DLC 4-6 months after launch, followed by a stream of DLC every 2-3 months or so. With most games being supported for anywhere between 8 months (DA2, which was cut massively short) and almost 18 months (Mass Effect 3).

Considering they're doing MP updates, Jaws is about to be released across all platforms, and they're at least looking into adding new stuff into MP (not to mention Black Eporium's release), I think it's safe to say that DA:I will be supported for another 6 months, minimum, and see between 2-3 major DLCs between now and then.

It should be noted this isn't taking into account characters, or item packs, and things of that nature, which usually come out day of release, or close to it.

Well, I hope you're both right, I really do. I'm going to try and keep my expectations manageable though and just hope for that one Solas dlc.

I'm guessing we'll see something more substantive in terms of story DLC by August-September. Just a guess.

This and the fact that Bioware's E3 pressence SHOULD be dedicated towards Mass Effect 4 and possibly the Mass Effect remastered trilogy. However with The Witcher 3 just being released and seeing how well it is doing review wise, I would not be surprised if Bioware took a stance to keep DAI (that other fantasy WRPG game) relevent and not allow TW3 to run away as the sole must have fantasy WRPG.

We will see.
