To start off with, I know this probably isn't the place for this, so I'll repost it as soon as the thread for next Mass Effect opens, I just had to get this off my mind and share it with you.
First, to identify the problem.
We all know, companions are what makes Mass Effect and Dragon Age (probably) the best action RPGs on the market. So for the sake of them staying at the top of RPG food chain, I don't want companions to end up being like they are in Inquisition. Don't get me wrong, companions in Inquisition are awesome, well written, have deep backgrounds etc. etc. But, Dragon Age Inquisition is a game meant to be played over and over again (as is Mass Effect, of course), and depending on your choices from previous games, the world you play in changes, BUT the companions don't. So every time you play the game, companions stay the same, and the more you play the game, the more boring they get. Even though their quests most of the time do have several outcomes, but quests themselves always stay the same, and let's face it, it gets boring after 1, maybe 2 playthroughs.
So far, I have 2 suggestions on how to prevent that from happening in the next Mass Effect :
1.) Give us a lot of awesome companions, but a limited number of how many we can invite to join us on our ship. Imagine if we had 20-ish possible companions, scattered all over the galaxy, but we're able to recruit only 6 or 7 of them. That would give A LOT of replay value, since we'll want to try out all possible combinations of companions, to see who gets along with who, try out more romances and so on.
2.) Give us a few companions, but a few who can be completely different persons depending on choices made in previous Mass Effect games. For example, let's say we'll have a quarian companion. I can, and you guys can probably, think of bunch of scenarios of how would that guy/girl act and look like depending on Shepards choices during Rannoch and Earth, or maybe he wouldn't exist at all.
From what I've read so far, Bioware has almost limitless resources to make Mass Effect "4" perfect, so who knows, maybe they merge those 2 options
and go way beyond call of duty to satisfy us. Or maybe they'll come up with something better.
Either way, I'm ecstatic and can't wait for more news regarding ME4, and I'd love to hear what you guys expect from companions in next Mass Effect.
P.S. Don't hate for grammar errors pls ![]()
Much love
