Virtuoso is hands down the best. The other night, myself and two friends (we're all Threatening players) marched through a Perilous like it was Routine with my level 15 Reaver, a level 17 Necro and a Level 20 Virtuoso.

I don't do barriereering on my Ele.

That's a waste of valuable resources, that could be spent burning stuff.

Personally, I like the barrier crutch on perilous, especially in pugs. Keeps me alive to burn all the things, and keeps pugs alive to draw aggro so I can burn all the things.

If I'm going into a private game with friends, I take it for chaotic focus lol mine.

Yeah but barrier is all the way down there on the tree.

Seriously though, I like mine as a pure damage dealer.

Plus I like to do my finest Bane voice and say "It doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our barrier".

Out of curiosity, what build do you run? Because I, too, want to do Bane impressions while playing.

Pretty simple.

Grasp, immolate, fire mine and barrage OR firestorm.

Never cared for fire wall, kinda gets in the way.

The usual passives.

Fury of the veil is my staff with +31 magic (I think). Flattening a mob is always awesome.

Oh and when you revive somebody the correct phrase is "AH I was wondering what would break first, your spirit or your body!"

I prefer the damage aspect of the Elementalist while still being able to cast barrier, even if it isn't as good.

Take this into consideration:

Keeper vs Dragon

Elementalist vs Dragon

Which one's going to take the dragon down faster assuming a competent player is in control?

Also, Elementalists AoE is much better for FC zone 4.

Yes but elementalist vs fire/lightning dragon? What are you going to do, winters grasp them to death? If your choosing nothing but certain elements in fc to cater to the elementalists strengths than keeper is better at keeping the group alive but both require a group to have some dps especially in perilous, unless your willpower is over 900 and your spamming firestorm.

Has anyone else dropped Firewall for other skills? I run Barrier, Immolate, Stonefist and Firestorm. For most of the match, I use the first three skills and Firestorm for the end or with larger crowds. Enemies not passing through Firewall or the team moving to the other side of it made seem less effective. I believe (don't quote me) Stonefist and Immolate do more damage and have faster cool downs. Plus, with Death Siphon constantly refilling mana, I'm rarely short when I need to cast.

I use this build alot. Sure, firewall is great, but immolate is a cheap and quick cast and burns oh so well.

As for the keeper vs elementalist for me it depends on what i want. If i want to just play cc and support, i pick keeper. If i want to burn and provide a little barrier, i go elementalist.

My Elementalist's Actives: Immolate (no upgrade), Firewall (upgrade), Firestorm (upgrade), Barrier (upgrade) plus Fury of the Veil/Mindchill staff.

I don't solo on perilous so the Elementalist is preferable because more often than not, I'm taking on the Frost Dragon in zone 5. I don't have high willpower but I do have a cooldown amulet modifier (like 10% or something) so waiting on firestorm isn't bad at all. I can usually chain barrier/firestorm well enough to keep the team alive and do a little dps on crowds. Firewall also plays into protection by panicking mobs, so barrier doesn't need to be Keeper-strength.

Same question: Keeper vs lightning/fire?

I play with Ele with Barrier. It is just below Guardian Spirit, which is a must have for any Perilous build. He still has 3 slots left for offensive skills, isn't that sufficient? I personally hardly cast anything but Stone Fist and Immolate offensive-wise.

I've promote the Ele 43 times and the Keeper 44 times. I really enjoy them both. But in my view the Ele is superior due to Death Syphon alone (let alone Flashpoint). Lots of Mana and Healing? Can't go wrong with that.

Static Cage is fantastic, invaluable for incipient Perilous teams. But for advanced teams, things die so easily that Static Cage hardly makes much difference (except for chokepoint farming), inevitably leaving the Keeper with nothing much to offer but Barrier and CL.
Make no mistake, the Keeper is likely everyone's best character for their first week or two spent in game, perhaps even much further. But the Ele eventually surpasses her.
