Will finished packing away what gear he had brought with him into his storage locker before heading to the mess. It had been a surprise when he’d been assigned to the Andromeda, the finest ship he had ever laid eyes on and he was to be part of its crew.  He had been told a few days prior that he would be serving on the vessel and it had been a long haul over to where the ship was docked, leaving him somewhat sleep deprived.

Stifling a yawn while walking into to mess, he glanced around at his surroundings. People hurried about staring at messages on their Omni-tools, carried out various tasks and sat about chatting with one another. He headed for an empty table, taking a seat and letting his head flop down onto the surface of the table. Closing his eyes for a few blissful seconds he let his mind wonder, he had heard Shepard, Commander Shepard herself! was aboard but he hadn’t seen her so he was taking it with a grain of salt. Picking his head up, Will lightly slapped himself a couple of times on each cheek in an attempt to keep himself attentive, he was curious to know if there was any intended debrief, or at least a brief speech about what was to come.

"This is the Mess Hall, we have 24 hour Cooking staff who rotate on a daily basis. And will make pretty much anything that are on the Menus from a fancy turian restraunt to a Low grade McDonalds. We have a Years worth of food for cargo, but Some will go towards the colonies once we we get the other Relay set and in place" She showed the Mess hall around to Marci

"Well, I suppose anyone can make user of a protein fabricator in a pinch."  Marci snickered.  "Just joking of course, but this place beats base food by about a hundred-thousand klicks!  I'm grabbing something."

Marci went and ordered a 'low-grade' Big Mac value meal.  She nudged Yori to get somthing too, then come over with her to find an empty table.

"Here's one."  Marci saw a table where a man with dirty blonde hair had just slapped himself awake.  He was sitting alone, so there was space around him.  "Hey, mind if we keep you company?"

Without waiting for an answer, Marci sat across from the man while beckoning Yori to follow and sit next to her.  Then Marci unwrapped her Big Mac (actually sealed in yellow paper) and took a mega-bite out of the hamburger, which squooshed with all its toppings as she chomped in.  After chewing twice, and still with her mouth a bit full, Marci asked the man, "So, pretty cool ship, huh?  You been onboard long?"

Yori ordered a High caloried Burger fries and extra large drink she sat down across from Marci.

Yori took a close look at the man trying to recognize him, "Corporal William Grey Right?"

Slightly taken aback by the sudden appearance of the two women, Will took a few seconds to answer. “Err, got in about an hour a go. Literally just finished storing my kit. Never thought I’d get to be on ship like this.” Turning his head as Yori spoke he nodded. “Yeah, that's me.”

He looked at the women, trying to place her face. “You know me, apparently, but I don’t know you. Care to enlighten me?” Will said it in a teasing sort of manner but he was curious as to who the women were.

SLUUURP!

Marci pulled the last of her soda through a straw.

"Yori knows you," Marci said gulping down another bite, wiping her hand and reaching across the table to shake.  "She's second in command.  I think she knows everything about the ship and everyone on it.  I'm Marci Rey."  She completely neglected to mention she was captain of the ship now. "Just got here myself, and Yori was showing me around.  So far this is my favorite deck on the Andromeda."

Marci wolfed down the last bites of her food and offered, "You want to come along with us William?  To, you know, check out all the other awesome things on the ship?  I bet it helps keep you awake.  And I bet we can get some coffees to go!"  She slid her eyes greedily to the coffee maker.  "Mmmmnnn..."

Williams eyes went wide for a second when he heard that Yori was second in command. Second in command of this ship and you just spoke to her like she's someone you met in a bar. Your an idiot. The voice in his head mocked him for not noticing, even if there was little way he could have told her rank.

He attempt to pull a salute while trying to stand but failed at both actions, resulting in a weird mix of the two."Sorry Ma'am, I had no idea that you....I didn't think..." Your an Idiot.

Seating back down he looked at Marci, fully aware of the colour filling his cheeks with embarrassment. " Yeah....yeah that would be good. Be good to see the rest of the ship." He smiled as Marci looked over at the coffee machine, grateful for an excuse to move passed his mistake. "I see we are on the same page."

"Yep, come on!" Marci was off the table and at the coffee maker in a blink.  She was pouring herself a cup and looking for a lid as she added.  "Yori's cool as anything, don't worry about your, you know, whatever formalities.  Right, Yori?  I think all that is for the formal occasions anyway.  Sort of like when you meet commander uptight or something, or in big assemblies when a speech is being made, or maybe when the ship is going down...not this ship, because this ship rocks.  And if Admiral Shepard was here, I'd salute her, because, well, because she's hot.  Don't tell me otherwise.  Everyone thinks it even if they don't say it."

The coffee Marci pulled away was steaming.  She fastened the lid without adding anything to the drink, and took a sip through the top.  It probably burned but she only winced a little.  "What about it?  Could you imagine if Shepard showed up, we all saluted her and said, "Yes, hot Admiral, ma'am!"

Then a thought seemed to cross Marci's mind again.  "I wonder why the Admiral didn't take this ship for herself..."

Yori giggled to her self "yeah, but that Jack was pretty damned hot her self ya know??" She nudged Marci

"I think the reason she isn't taking this for her self 'yet' is that she still doesn't have authority to run a ship or crew yet on a official basis but I am sure she will visit"

"Well, I'll remember to properly salute her when she does.  Let's go see something important now.  You know, where we aren't supposed to touch the stuff around us or something like that."

Will had grabbed a coffee just after Marci, taking a few quick steps to catch up with the the two as they headed towards the elevator. Taking a tentative sip he listened as Yori and Marci talked about Shepard, a women who was held in a grey area in his mind. On the one had she had brought races from all across space under one banner to fight the Reapers and had saved Earth. On the other, what had that done to for all those who hadn't been saved? What about the all those who didn't live through the war? Granted he couldn't blame the Commander for all those lost, but he didn't see her as some sort of hero, no, hero's didn't exist in reality. Of course he often kept this view to himself and only raised an eyebrow in amusement as the two discussed the attractiveness of Shepard and her wife.

"Your guns?" He looked curiously at Yori. "How long have you been working on the Andromeda?"

"Hmm.. probably about a year? If not close to it. I was originally hired as a mechanic/engineer/pilot/and overall spec design. I may not be N7 I probably would have taken head position of the ship but my age and rank just put me in 2nd command to the captain. Given I am only a second lieutenant within the alliance." She shrugs "besides having a dad that is an admieral and basically did basic training with N7 trainees kinda puts you on the spot light ya know?"

"Overall spec design?  That's impressive, Yori."

As they walked past two crewmembers coming the other direction, Marci gave a completely informal, "Helllllo!"

Then she got a hop in her step. "Guns, guns, guns!  What are we armed with again?"

"Glad you asked~" She giggled
"we are Equipped with Thialx cannons that Are reenforced with teh ammo upgrades that we all use these days in our guns. It was customly made where we can Instanly switch to each Ammo type depending on the situation. though Too much switching at once can leave it over heated" she lead them to one of the gunnery turrets "Along with full zero G Turret controls it allows for extreme accuracy, along with AI controled Mini turrets all around the ship giving it all around cover fire in all directions Up down back forward and even From the W axsis. with Dead point accuracy."

"Wow," Marci said as she listened to Yori.  She liked her, and liked William.

When she got to the turret, however, it was as if all other thought left her mind.  Marci stared at the guns.

William and Yori could see how she was drawn in.  She got as close as she could to the manual control panel.  There was a red safety cover, hiding what Marci knew was the switch for activating the weapon.  Then all anyone had to do was flick the trigger.

Biting her lower lip, the tiniest bit of sweat seemed to break from her brow.  It was as if Marci was doing her best to restrain herself, and it was unclear if she would be able to, as her pupils widened.

"I soooooo want to push the button..."

William was a little unsettled by the sight of Marci getting closer to the control panel. The guns were impressive, really impressive and he could see how someone might get a little over the top about them but... He looked at Marci with a mix of genuine concern and levity.

"I feel like the button should be bigger, and more red. You know, to really tempt people to push it." Will gave a light smile but was wondering if Marci was actual considering pushing the button.

"Remind me to never be near you when around any heavy ordnance, I feel like it would end badly" He was still completely unaware of Marci's role on the ship and would probably have pushed the button himself to escape the embarrassment if he did know she was to be his Captain.

"Heh No worries. I have 5 to 6 saftey measures in place. And Only I can disengage them at this time, well I can from anywhere in the ship. But they are unlocked directly from the Main console in the primary deck." She shows her omni tool showing the she has the current authorization. "All that button will do is Activate the Mass effect fields giving zero G to the room or all the similiar turrets."

"Cool then!"

Marci flipped the safety up and flicked the switch beneath it on.

The small room began to light up with a blue Dim light as the rest of the lights turned on also giving an video feed of where the actual turret was on the ship. the turret control chair also began to float and fix its self in the center of the room. "Go ahead Cap, give it a try." She chuckled

What Yori said was like telling Marci, 'Go ahead, you can open the birthday present now,' and there was a spark in Marci's eyes.

That spark lasted half a second before Marci jumped into the chair.

"Awesome!  How does it work?  I've never seen a system like this."

Marci started grabbing controls that looked like they needed to be grabbed.

"Hehe If you have played any combat sims It is sorta like that. The joysticks in the chair are basically the things you use to spin around in the room. and when in combat in locked in mode, allows you to use the joysticks indepentently able to shoot at two  targets within 180degrees of the position of the Turret.

"I could spend a lot of time here," Marci said.  She took the joysticks in her hands, and moved them to spin herself as Yori had mentioned.  Whatever button she accidentally hit, or maybe it was activated when she simply grabbed the controls, a HUD displayed before her, with targeting information and everything anyone could imagine, including a view that let her look through the Andromeda as if it weren't even there.

"A lot of time..."

"Heh, Now Cap. You need to make time for running the ship too ya know? You will have your time, I already made a schedule for while in the jump for those to get achlimated with the new turrets for training. On cycled shifts. Always gotta be prepared Right Captain?" she landed a smirk to her Captain.
