S&S Reaver advice

Looking to make a s&s reaver for hard or nightmare after I've finished my dwarven 2H Champion.
Which masterworks work best with this style of build? Heal on kill, hidden blades, guard on hit, etc.
And where is the best place to find these crafts.
Also, as qunari, is the lack of armors going to be a problem overall?
Cheers

For the masterworks, Reaver works best with low health, so I would personally suggest guard on hit (simply for being safer), and those come from fade-touched silverite and obsidian (maybe other options). Then again, that works with pretty much all warriors on nightmare.
For the armors, it will only be a problem if you want Qunari armors, which your character technically is not (as in, they are not followers of the Qun, so it should not be that big of an issue). Besides, The best armors are not the unique/non-customizable ones.

So as an S&S reaver you have three masterwork slots available. So what do you recommend?
- 5 Guard on Hit (silverlite) obviously.
- Iron Fortress on hit? Something defensive?
- Hidden Blades on hit? Chain Lightning on hit? Something offensive? Or more defense?

Personally I found the qunari have a wonderful advantage. Their helms boost the "base" damage of your abilities. This is less valuable on a 2H warrior, but the lower base damage weapons will really get a lot out of it. Plus they show up in cinematics when most helmets are removed.
As far as masterworks for a S&S Reaver...well, I'm not a big fan of Reaver but I recommend you start out focusing on defensive ones and end up with offensive. So for levels 12 to 18 I'd make sure you have guard on hit, iron fortress, and maybe heal on hit. You can even stack guard on hit if you'd like, just be sure they are different tiers (3, 4, 5 guard on hit, etc).
Once you get higher in level and have some decent armor and weapons, I'd get hidden blades just like Tharkun said but I'd still have a heal on hit if you could.

Might go with guard on hit, heal on hit and then one offensive masterwork.
Seems the best of both worlds.
Id make a Qunari champion, but my dwarf is a champion already so....

I played a Reaver on nightmare as my last character and i had some problems, mainly because i suck at warrior type characters. But the advice above is sound, you need something to build guard and if you can get the belt and ring that gives health on kill aswell. Make sure that your tank is actually tanking, and not you, gives you the mobility to just run around the battlefield slaughtering everyone. When i first got it to work i loved it, high risk and high reward.

I played 2H, but I used Fade Touched Obsidian (never picked up the silverite), for 3 guard on hit. As above, it is a decent buffer to your health. I aimed to keep health around 50% with full guard. The only downside is that you might end up walking more since fast travel resets the guard to zero and health to full. ![]()
Heal on Kill wouldn't necessarily be a bad choice though.

I did nightmare as a Qunari SnS, then 2 handed Reaver. I'd recommend this as a 2 handed build :
For guard generation, charging bull and war cry ought to be sufficient. Just be sure to hit everyone with charging bull, and use it as a quasi evasive maneuver. When its on cooldown, use combat roll. You'll get enough guard to deal with incidental hits, but ideally you'll dodge most attacks. If your facing a dispersed group, use wall pulling mechanics to make them form into a nice clump.
For masterwork, I used 5 hidden blades and caltrops. As mentioned, roll or charge through your enemies and you'll avoid most attacks
... But with this build you have the option of wearing a shield if you need it for a particular battle.

Chest = +7,5 % damage per enemy within 8 meters
Shield = 10% chance to use hidden blades with 5 hits (triggers all the time)
Sword = variable, i prefer 10% Horn of Valor on hit for 15% damage / armor, triggers as often as hidden blades
Belt
Ring 1
Ring 2
Amulet
For boss / dragon fights you swap the chest out: heal 25% of damage taken over 10 seconds
and get 5 guard on hit for the sword (i felt like i did not benefit from the 5 guard on hit that much so i stuck with horn of valor).
sword'n board reaver
My level 24 Inky had 28 skillpoints. If you still have points to spend go for more passives from sword and shield tree.
No focus skills (i think theyre too OP) and no fear (why would you want the enemys to run away from you).
Start with challenge for bonus damage and 15% stamina reg, then bulls charge as many enemies as possible. By now something will have hit you, so use payback strike immediately after bulls charge (no stamina cost). Stomp your ring of pain and spam the **** out of your 1 key. Between dragon rage, multiple hidden blade triggers, 7,5% bonus damage per enemy and possibly 15% damage from horn of valor you kill most enemies in one rotation. The life drain ring keeps your health up pretty nicely, on weaker enemies it even heals you more than your dragon rage hurts. In longer fights you can use unbowed since it costs no stamina.
Suprisingly you will have enough stamina most of the time to use combat roll and bulls charge (combat moves a lot so you dont keep your ring of pain up 100% of the time). Use bulls charge as setup for a free devour.
With that build you can walk the thin red line of a 10% HP bar quite nicely for maximum damage bonus.
I also tried the +30% damage done 300% damage taken on the armor. It was kinda funny, i think it is bugged. I frequently got instagibbed from full HP (~1000hp) by random archer muppets or red templar knights, while i survived the fight with the third dragon in emprise du lion (the fire dragon) without dying once. Go figure.

Im currently unsure whether to roll a human inquisitor or a qunari.
