Google Fiber is forwarding copyright infringement notices to its subscribers including controversial and automated piracy fines. Through these notices, rightsholders demand settlements of up to hundreds of dollars.

Also interesting to note that these fellas are working on Google drive, a new type of road sensor technology that allows for driverless cars to be a reality.

If and when Google achieves sentience I see it as a non issue. Not like its a military program with defensive parameters. The only real directive a sentient Google would have is to be a information repository and google 's job would be to curate.

And to find the perfect ad banner for you individually that generates click traffic, of course. The pinnacle of sentient intelligence.

Google will run the world in 10 years. They have been working awfully hard to index all the information in the world. On one hand, they allow free and easy access for most of that information. But on the other hand, it means that they're collecting and storing all that information for themselves. I bet you the massive database at Google HQ looks like the Infosphere from Futurama.

Wouldn't surprise me if Google sets out to destroy the world when it knows everything, too.

10 years. (8 and a half now.)

DARPA would be more than likely to create skynet IMO. The stuff that goes on in that office is insane.

giving definition to the whole world is one of the requirements of unleashing some gun mounted robodawgs upon unsuspecting villages full of brown people though. And some countries that spend trillions on military would want to buy that up.

The first words sentient Google will utter is "more input. I need input"

What does Google have to do with Smash Brothers?

I don't think you know what 20XX means.

It means, in the context that the OP is using it, the year 2050, or 2072, or 2019, or any other year in the 2000s.  Hence 20XX with the XX being a placeholder for the last two year digits.  That really should have been patently obvious.

I have no idea what Smash Brothers even is, by the way.

Also can we vote to make this guy the new StarReborn?

All we need him to do is post about his MDMA/Mary induced enlightenment and Zimbabwe.

I was making a joke about the smash tourney scene you hipster.

Seriously? Must be a nice rock you're living under. Also no need to be smug about it.

Google owns you, body and soul. But remember its the future you chose. You could have prevented this.

But Chrome syncs my devices so good. Firefox sync is kind of dodgy.

WTH? Syncing devices for a web browser?

Do you mean Java, Shockwave Flash and stuff or something else?
