I followed the release of this game (PC version) and there were tons of issues. The one I had issue with was the lack of PC controls.

So, my question. Has the issue(s) of cruddy PC controls/camera views been addressed since release?

Thanks

I play on PC and yes, its perfectly usable, IMO. (Though I am of the opinion that PC controls were't that cruddy at release, either, so take my opinion with that in mind, I guess?) Your opinion would depend on what "issues at launch" you are referring to, exactly, I suppose.

The most tweaking I had to do at launch was remap some keys. And since launch, they've added walk/run toggles and auto-attack (though it still takes one button press to activate), so if those were "must haves' then you have them. Tac Cam's height is now adjustable so that the camera can be placed higher/farther out than at launch. And you can also now holster and unholster your weapons at will, which I personally am very happy with.

If you wanted more than 8 abilities at once or a more nuanced tactics system, then no, those aspects havn't changed. Of course, those aren't specific to PC as the same design is present on console. But some people mean those things when they say "pc controls", so just fyi in case you are one of those people.

Tac cam zooms out a bit more (not much improvement) and you can bind auto attack now, but pretty much everything else is the same. If you vehemently hated it before, you're unlikely to change your opinion significantly now.

Enough tweaking with controls and settings makes it playable for me now. Though wish it'd still be more DA:O-ish, but it works.

Anyone saying the kb + m controls haven't improved hasn't tried "mouse look + R".

It's 1000x better than at release!

I was pleasantly surprised after starting it up a week ago. It runs far better than earlier, but they've also tweaked the controls. No complete overhaul of KB+M, however.

Best way to answer you would be to tell you this.

I have played Mass Effect 1,2,3, Dragon age Origins and Dragon age 2, also Jade empire.  I have played these that many times I lost count ages ago, and each time I played them I was totally engrossed.  These games are timeless.

Now with DA:I, even if I flog myself with barbecued-mustard coated barbed wire, I cannot force myself to finish it ONE time.  It is a horrible, soulless pile of junk.

Hope that helps.

Honestly, It's pretty much the same thing as when it first released. You DO get used to the controls after playing for a while so don't worry about it too much. I've lost all hope that the controls will ever be the same as the past games so I'm going to have to deal with it the way it is.

Now with DA:I, I've enjoyed myself even more than the previous games, putting over 250 hours in a couple of months. I played with both KB+M and Gamepad, and liked both controls equally. The game has a lot of soul, dialogue and lore, and I highly suggest you get it.

It's fine for me. I use a PC with an Xbox controller and the stability has improved too. Only time any issues arise for me is if I use mods, and that's normal. The typical issues like the stick puppet fight with Envy, funny glitches and unreachable loot remains, but I found a noticeable improvement and I've been playing DAI since January. Game never ends. Always something new to find/do.

Runs fine.  I never had an issue with the controls (KB+M) and the game plays well.

Why do I think you didn't finish the game BECAUSE of the flogging?

Even on PS4 the game has been patched and runs well.  On a very few occasions characters will appear to "drop down" or "warp over" to their positions.  I've only seen one error with a description on a notice board in Skyhold not reflecting my actions.  It's a good time to play the game.

So if it was a game which entirely portrayed a banana eating a biscuit, but ran well without errors, do you think you would say that the game was excellent and worth every penny?

Depends on how he feels about bananas eating biscuits, doesn't it?

I never thought the controls were particularly bad. I got used to them within a couple of hours, and then everything was fine.

There'll be a kickstarter for that at some point.

Eh some people apparently have no capacity for adaptation, which makes me wonder how they ever played more than one game.

Controls do indeed need some time to get accustomed to. But the kb/m couldn't be the dealbreaker for that game.

What broke the deal for me personally, was the endless grindfest, nonsense quests, repetitive combat, maze-like location layout w/o fast travel between checkpoints except a few, and most of all, the need to grind to reach a necessary min level to go on with the main story.

That's ok that people enjoy the above (after all, mmorpgs are played by the millions of people), but it's not my cup of tea.

Some games' controls are genuinely challenging. NWN2 had terrible controls, which is why Obsidian completely overhauled them. Twice.

Why they didn't just have the camera work exactly like NWN (and KotOR, which was exactly the same), I will never know.

But they learned their lesson. KotOR2 did use the same camera as NWN and KotOR.

i'm not going to like FPS just because suddenly every game now follows its hideous design rules.

it's called preference. probably the same reason why you dislike turn-based combat

The game is fine, it says hello. I have played Dragon Age Inquisition for about 370 hours or so since its release. I had 3 crashes to desktop and one serious bug. I consider myself lucky, because people are always complaning about how unplayable it is.

The PC controls have gotten a little better. The zoom on the tactical camera is now acceptable and the keybindings do help alot. I am not so fan of the auto attack function, mostly because you have to adjust to landscape aswell as attacking. Easier to control it yourself. Plus i feel like you use more abilities in the game then actually auto attacking.

I also hesitated to buy the game after reading about some of the technical issues. It's not so bad on PC with an XBox controller, though at about halfway through, I've become annoyed at only having 8 abilities available to use for my mage. TacCam takes a little getting used to, and I occasionally get hung up on stairs and trees and things, but it hasn't prevented me from enjoying the game. I've had a couple CTDs that occur when transitioning to a cutscene.

I'm enjoying the story more than I thought I would, based on user reviews. Once I realized that I didn't need to do every single quest and that I should jump into new maps sooner, it became more fun. The graphics are outstanding. I would love to have more in-depth stories with the companions and be able to explore certain areas more (such as Val Royaux - lots of closed doors), but that's always the case with any game, and there's certainly plenty to keep my imagination engaged.
