Is there a stat like crit chance or something else that increases the chance your weapon ability goes off? My wicked grace dagger has a 10% chance to apply poison but it seems to go off more like 20%. The Mindchill Staff has a 2% chance to cast Mindblast. At 2% it should hardly ever be going off but it seems to activate more like 10%. Anyways, the abilities are going off more frequently than they say and was wondering if something else affects the chance.

I think it's mostly down to randomness. 2% of course doesn't mean that it will only ever go off 2% of the time. You could have it go off 10 times in a row, but the more you use the weapon, the more it's going to tend to that 2% probability -- or whatever the percentage is for that given weapon ability.

The only other factor I can think of is whether the ability description says "on hit". I think someone told me that if it's "on hit" then it only applies to auto attacks or auto-attack-ish abilities. Whereas if it doesn't have "on hit" then it can be proc'd by more spell-like abilities -- I believe the templar's Wrath of Heaven was used as an example. Can anyone else back this up and/or correct me?

I notice effects on weapons proc sometimes when I use abilities - it would be useful to know if using an ability that hits multiple enemies calculates this proc chance individually, per enemy or calculates it once for the entire attack - like with normal auto attacks. I haven't watched closely enough. I would guess it would be individually, as I notice veilstrike occurring much more frequently from fury of the veil when I use more attack powers rather than auto attacking, but perhaps that is simply because in those situations I am attacking much more frequently as I am playing offensively, as opposed to simply auto-attacking during cooldowns and to generate mana in between spamming barrier and other group buffs.

Either way, I only see the majority of these weapon effects as a added bonus, rather than something I would possibly find more inherently useful, like stat buffs. The exploding enemies proc being an exception, as its awesome. Daggers are great for proc chance, as you can double it by equipping two, and your attack speed is much much higher than a great-maul or other two handed weapons.
