I've finished the game with 5 different characters, longest playthrough was about 90 hours on Nightmare. And i have no hesitation to go back and create a new character at any time. I've played Dragon Age Origins about 1200 hours according to my gaming evolved. So i see where the thread master is coming from.

There is enough content to always keep me interested, i never skip any dialogue because there is just so much sublety in them that you notice something new every time you hear/read them. This is a Bioware trait in my opinion, it was very lacking in DAII, but present in Origins and Inquisition.

I personally loved your feedback and it pretty much sums up what i don't like about the game and what i absolutely love about it. It has its flaws, and everything does, but the positive things about it just outshines the negatives. Makes it just one of those games i can play over and over without thinking about it. It feels natural.

Glad you like my feedback. I'm still working on it, though, so if you think I missed anything please let me know and I will add it.

Geezus,

How the hell, could you get through Ten playthroughs? I finished one, and did two halfplaythroughsf, which i never finished. I couldn't stand the inquisitors lack of personality..it was just awful.

I have no words... Ten playthroughs? I barely endured one.

This^

I do love the graphics, character design, and the voices but there's so much bad I had to watch most of the game on youtube rather than play it. Nice review though. You did your best to be objective and impartial. +1 will read your future reviews :)

What was bad? What was good? I would like people to add specific things as to what thy enjoyed and what caused them not to.

Thank you for saying that, by the way. I tried my best and glad it shows.

I had 3 characters but just finished the second one, though I liked the last one better, but not enough to finish it I guess. On the third one I planned to make a complete playthrough, collecting all the crap and such. Couldn't do it. Why suffer all this if I can play something fun instead?

Heya.   :)

I am someone that loves DA:I, and I'm working on my third character.  I don't have your speed, because I have been waiting for more patches and the like.  I'm so happy you had fun!  I did too.

Since this is a feedback thread, I'd like to share with you my personal opinion about the good, bad and ugly about DA:I.  Just ignore anyone that tells you to go "play something fun."  You obviously had fun and it anyone doesn't like it, they can lump it.

Oh and I have no interest in debating with anyone about this.  This is just my opinion, this is not about who's right or wrong in their opinion.  There is a ton of other threads were you can go gripe about the game.  There isn't many happy threads around.  Don't be a jerk, and go hit one of many of the angrier threads instead of bashing on another gamer because they liked something you didn't.  We're all adults, or at least we should be, so let's act like it.    Show some class guys, you're capable of it.

Here we go:

Good

Main story---I loved the main plot and it grabbed me immediately.  As a fan of Legacy, I was damned near bouncing in my seat when I saw Cory.

Ending--I loved both the main ending and the post credits ending.

Zone lore--Each zone had it's own detailed and rich lore.  I felt like I finally got to know Thedas outside of the codex and EU.

Graphics--Pretty, pretty game.

Companions--It's BioWare, so I'm not surprised they knocked this out of the ball park.

Armor Customization--I know the tinting table came later, but I loved the armor in this game, and tinting table helps me feel like I'm creating my look for my party.

Lore Expansion--You know nothing, Dalish Elf.

Combat--Mostly.  On Action Mode, I flow through my rotation.  It's awesome.

Atmosphere--Again, I felt the lore just come alive here.

Bad

PC Controls--Are very wonky and uncomfortable to use for me.  I'm almost 100% certain they did the majority of the PC testing with a gamepad.

Disappearing NPCs--This still happens from time to time.

Uneven customization options-- Like having 10 beds over one or two extra hair styles.  Or the lack of recoloring the PJs

A lack of music--If I wanted the immersion of silence, I would have done it myself.  As it is, BioWare really screwed up here as far as I'm concerned.

The Amulets of Power---They threw the baby out with the bathwater there.

The Lack of Zone connectivity--Very little of the stories were referencing each other.

RNG Loot for Tier 3 Schematics--Not enough "no" gifs out there to express myself fully.

Ugly

Crashing--Specifically, if I either bounce in between zones or leave/enter the Crafting windows back to back.

Clipping--Yo, Lavellan, where did your arms and hands go?

Characters stuck in the terrain--How the heck anyone misses the one by the Shard near the dragon area of the Hinterlands, I don't get.

Final Boss Fight--Yep, this one of the worst things about this game for me.  I didn't expect some sort of "Grand Army" as a part of some huge siege, but I sure was expecting a better final encounter.

Tac-Cam--Awful, just awful.  You can't zoom out enough to coordinate easily on fights like dragons that auto-adjust the camera for you.  I find it a hindrance, and the only time I use it is on dragon fights.  Even then, it's just to pull my ranged characters (usually Varric and Solas) out of the direct line of fire.

AI--Holy crap.  I haven't played a game with an AI this suicidal in years.  Even DA2 had it coded to where ranged would stay at a distance and flanked, and it didn't have, say Varric or Anders running back up to it and standing right in the path of it's flame breath.

The lack of music in the field, again---So crappy that I had to mention it twice.   I am a music orientated person, so that was a huge disappointment.  <_<

Overall, I'd give the game a 7.5-8 out of 10.  It has become one of my all time favorite BioWare games, so you're not alone there.  The score isn't higher due to the problems listed in "Bad" and "Ugly."  However, I would not hesitate to recommend it to friends and family that love RPGs.  I did so with my dad, brother, and sister-in-law.  Folks at Gamestop.  I would recommend that they check out some videos and reviews first, because the game does need some more patching.  Not all of my complaints can or will be addressed, obviously.  I don't expect that, but I do expect some more patches.

Take heart.  You're certainly not the only one that loves this game.  If you're feeling disheartened by some of the posters in this section, I recommend the "What did you do today?" thread in Story and Lore.  They also enjoyed the helluva out of the game despite it's issues, and they have a lot of fun.  They save the game concerns, frustrations and feedback for the correct threads.  Many of those folks made me feel welcome last year as new ME fan.  They're good people.

10... playthroughs? How long were they? To me a playthrough isn't complete if it doesn't reach at least 110 hours in this game and reach at least level 22-23 (since that's when I finished the game for the first time). Not sure I'd have your patience. After my first playthrough, I didn't have the patience to go back and do another full playthrough. Restarted many times to find a new Inquisitor I'd be satisfied with but nothing beats the feeling of "your first time" playthrough through the game.

Problem is 70 hours of my first playthrough were spent on side quests that were so basic and had so little actual writing or variation that I wouldn't want to experience them 10 times... They just weren't fun enough.

OP nailed it when he described inquisition as put an item in a stump and DAO with the demon orphanage which had unique npcs, companion dialogue, and an actual script.

DAI had a great story, but it was so short. Lost in the fluff, and so far the dlc is just more fluff, another big and empty map that focuses more on MMO style questing then actual storytelling.

Excellent post

Thank you for the feedback. I will add things from your list that i didn't find (like the PC controls, since iplay on Xbox360 and PS4)

And thanks for the support, but i'm not bothered by people that say anything bad. I assume they need a hobby. If i hated something so much, i wouldn't spend my days on a forum talking about it. My thought is "that's so CUTE!". (That doesn't apply to people who commented on my amount of playthroughs).

A matter of opinion, i loved evey second, even of the menial tasks. And the reason i didn't mind the mini-tasks is because they usually brought me to somewhere i could find new lore. I love stories, and i've been following this one since Origins, so all of the lore revelations in Inquisition made me giddy.

*nudges" "She"

The "story" with Inquisition in the open areas was mostly in the Codex. In retrospect, there are so many hints for the epilogue in them. As well as that, i prefered my second female Dalish elf the most, because of all the hidden hints and ways you end up looking like a fool thinking you know about something nobody does. But if you just went around doing rifts and a few side quests. you can still get the main plot done.

Origins had its fair share of "do this and put this here". Those quests aren't the problem insofar as the lack of demon infested orphanges was (to keep up with my examples). However, those are present in Inquisition. The Lost Temple of Dirthamen (i probably botched that spelling) was a really interesting side quest. There were too few like it, and it was a missed opportunity to have an extra cutscene with our elven friends. That and it doesn't hold the same meaning for a non-elf Inquisitor.
