Pfft. The Saber is a wanna-be sniper, the Lancer's a poor man's PPR (beam weapons are a close second to the Sniper Elite) and the Harrier's a minuteman, if you get my drift.

 

The Widow, Black Widow and Javelin are the most beautiful, elegant and deadly non-sentient things in-game. The Collector Sniper is good, the Mantis, Valiant and Viper are tolerable. The Indra and Raptor are filthy AR-lovers that should be kicked out of the clubhouse.

Nah, the Saber takes care of bad guys fast and is useful for more than just the guy across the map. The Lancer is the same. And the Harrier? Shoot, you just need to fire a small burst and whatever its pointing at is not alive anymore. And they can do the job of the sniper rifle with the right mod. Meanwhile, mr. long range rifle is frustrated when the bad guy comes in too close to be useful.

 

Lets put in perspective: Mr. HIMARS MGM-40's single "bullet" is over twice the length of two grown men and wider than a midget is tall. God's bullet right there.

Shotguns are pretty useless for ranged casters. An Engineer, for instance, has no use for shotguns since getting in close is the worst way to play that class. Shotguns in ME1 had the range and accuracy of sniper rifles but in the sequels they're not as amazing(ly broken).

Yeah that's why I'm always extracting with my Shotgun Asari Adept, Batarian Adept, Quarian Male Engineer, Geth Engineer, Vorcha Engineer etc on Platinum 

Slap a smart choke on the Claymore or the Wraith and you have all the range you need.

Pfff, SRs can't even OHK shielded enemies. Not to mention that Shotguns have the highest damage per shot (Claymore), the highest dps (Reegar), the 2nd highest dps (Raider), and the 3rd highest dps (Piranha) of any weapon.

Answered most of the questions as if it were for my canon Shep (Miri LI, Control ending) and limited myself to the top 5 for favorite squadmate question. I did however choose Earthborn/Ruthless as my favorite background/personality for my canon Femshep, she was amazeballs. Oh and chose James as a desired LI for the sole reason that my Femshep couldn't tie down the bugger haha

Pfft. I no scope fools without even looking at that distance. Though if enemies are getting that close to you, you're doing it wrong. If I want them to feel like they've got a chance I use the Arc Pistol. Which I can still "snipe" with.

 

Size isn't everything. Smiting anyone at any time without causing needless damage is more impressive than just levelling the entire area. Though it's a bit silly comparing man portable weaponry to artillery. On the scale you're talking about I'd have to go with the logical extrapolation of sniping, namely killsats. If we don't have them yet, we should get them.

You're not using the right ones.

 

The shotgun is the barbarian's weapon. The Claymoar gets a pass because it harkens back to my days of using explosive ammo on my shotty in ME1, making it a literal boomstick. The Reegar is only classfied as a shotgun because they don't know what to do with it, now that heavy weapons are no longer routinely carried. It spits hot electrical fire and melts fools most satisfyingly. It can hang with us. All other shotguns are inferior though some gets points for savagery (Graal) or just plan haax (GPS). The Crusader is also allowed an honorary mention as it uses slugs and is thus the most sniper like

MP and SP are very different. The MP maps and enemies are designed in such a way that casters have no choice but to move and expose themselves. An Engineer Shepard in SP is very different compared to an Engineer class in MP.

Really? As you said the 3 2 best Sniper rifle is the Widow, Black Widow (seriously if you gona snipe at least be a man and use a single shot weapon, only scrubs who can't aim use the BW), and the Javelin:

The Javelin's (and BW's) dps is beaten by 6 Shotgun, and the Widow's by 7 shotgun. The BW has 2% higher dps than the Javelin, but in turn it's damage per shot is beaten by 6 shotguns (while the Javelin's by 1). Wow they really are so great

You're not getting OHKs. You're either not using the right ones or you're doing it wrong. Pro-tip: Aim for the head.

Wow, that's all you can do? Shotguns have better dps and better damage per shot, they also have pellets which means they can OHK anything less than a boss unit while your pathetic sniper can't get past the shield gate.

 

I don't even know what are you arguing about. Shotguns are better in every way. Better dps, weight, damage per shot. Only thing snipers have going for them are range, but if you can't stay alive in the tick of the fight you are a scrub.
