So apparently Hawke is supposed to talk in battle?

I'm not quite sure what you're getting at here. What I was saying is that Merrill, if her Blood of the First ability is activated, keeps saying her mana's low over and over again. That even though the characters have a viable means of casting magic when their mana's low, the game has them say repeatedly something that can get rather annoying.

Which is what Sifr and I were pointing out. You might be low on mana Hawke, but don't act like you're not without a means to cast spells!

Perhaps it's because it's late and you're trying to say something that I'm just too tired to grasp, but I know the difference between mana and blood in terms of magical casting.

(apologies if this came off as rather harsh. not my intent).

Nah, you did not. Not at all.

I thought you meant they say it in general, when they're allocated points in Blood Magic skills. I don't remember why I felt such a need to point it out though, even if you had said what I thought you did.

I was having a very naggy day it would seem.

in inquisition there was a similar bug and it was the companions that would be completely silent

it could be solved by 'reading' (selecting/hovering over them to make the small flag beside the titles disappear) all the active quests/codex entries and inventory items

maybe you could try do the same and see if hawke starts talking?

Is this really so surprising? They never fixed the DLC save corruption bug. Just shows they stopped caring about this game.

Oddly, I've never experienced this notorious MoTA save bug that I saw warnings about in the multiple times I've played it since purchase. In any case, I doubt it's a matter of them not caring, so much as they had to put their efforts elsewhere. There was a lot of stuff they wanted to do with this game that ultimately had to get scrapped or shifted elsewhere.

Same. And I've gone so far as to duplicate my save file on a thumb drive just in case this occurred so I could recover it on every single MotA playthrough.

My Hawke had a tendency to shout "ISABELA". Had a weird one where I just leaving the Pub and he screamed it lol.

Obviously some things could never be kept in the Bedroom.

I've never heard Hawke talk once in combat on the PS3. I knew about the bug already though, so I got over the disappointment at release.

I play on PS3 and Hawke said some things here and there. Like if Isabela fell in battle, she'd yell "ISABELA!" and the whole "now you fall!" and "it's not doing anything" if certain attacks weren't working on a particular enemy.

I haven't reinstalled the game since I bought it, so I'll try that a few times, I guess. Was going to do it before but gave up soon after seeing that solution never working.

Edit: Nope. No such luck.

I beat DA2 a few days ago, and Hawke still never shuts up in my game. One time she sounded so much like Aveline I was confused, because Aveline was not in my party.

Was she a warrior, by chance?

No, my Hawke is always a Mage, but there's a few lines where her actress sounded like the actress for Aveline.

I played DA II, eh-hem, a lot.  I never noticed warrior Hawke talking as much.  Maybe it was me.  Mostly get the, "I am right here you know." Occasionally in party banter, but I didn't notice a tremendous amount of talking in party chat.  Just me?  I played both on 360 and Mac (yes, I even played the Mac version on Mac instead of the PC one).
