I never could get into motorsports.
Wait, aren't we're supposed to be talking about earthquakes?

I'm home alone, because my roommate is out of town, and we just had a little one.
I live in Northern California so it's not really a big deal, or it wouldn't be if we hadn't just had a big one, a six point something a couple of months ago. It destroyed some of the buildings downtown and then we had aftershocks and lost power for days.
So, I'm kind of freaking out, mostly because I'm afraid that there will be more and I'm posting this to calm myself down.
Sort of on edge, but that's okay. How about you guys? Ever been scared to death by the ground shaking?
no i havent been in the same room as your mom. ![]()
Seriously doe, if it didnt kill you then dont worry about it

Well here are somethings to do in case one would find themselves in an earthquake

I thought the getting under a desk thing was a bad idea now? Since if something big enough falls on the desk it's gonna smash you too. Maybe that's hearsay...
And you also have Sarah Palin still.
Plus, everyone knows Alaska is just Canada-lite. Odd people who don't even touch the rest of us and are somehow considered a part of the country.
Rather have had nutty Gov. Sarah than George Dubya, though.
( current governor is Gov. Bill Walker, who ran as independent)
And those who paid attention in school know that Alaska is the 49th state (as of Jan. 3, 1959), Hawaii being the 50th (as of Aug. 21, 1959).
No Canada-lite here, all American.
Canada-lite sounds like a delicious drink though.

its called water.

No that's Diet Great Lakes.

Huh.
I literally thought I was in a foreign country when I was up there. It's so different from the continental US. I suppose that if by American, you mean North American, maybe.
Same with Hawaii, though that's more understandable.
Makes me feel grateful to live in Malaysia. Here we only have thunderstorms and hot weather. Nothing else.
I've been in one decent sized quake, at least for Oklahoma. That was a few years ago now, and not really much compared to a California one.

You live in the Ring of Fire. You guys have the capacity for some of the most violent earthquakes in the world, and volcanoes. Plus, you have a much larger issue with Tsunami's. Remember 2004?

I think not far from you "Philippines" is quite a shaky place too like Japan.
If buildings are properly placed and made nothing can scratch them even with a 7.5 Richter earthquake.
I think it was a good three years ago or so now. It was a Saturday night. When was that one? I remember there was a good one like 2 years ago that I didn't feel cause I was driving, but there were people up in Tulsa that felt it well enough. I think the epicenter was just outside the Metro area.
Oh yeah it was. I think it was right after a OSU game too.I think it was a good three years ago or so now. It was a Saturday night.
GiggityI feel like I'd have a clever response to this under other circumstances.
Female.
Never felt a tremor or a quake though Adelaide did have a slightly big one in 1954....
What's it actually feel like when there is an earthquake? Do they make any kind of sound when the ground is moving?

Why do 39 million people live in a state that is under constant threat of earthquakes and could at any moment break off into the Pacific Ocean?

They can make a thunder like sound if they're big enough. Usually it just sounds like something hitting the side of your house or a big truck driving by for the smaller ones.
Ah... thanks..
Just would feel unsettling to feel that for the first time..

Already said that in page 1, thief!
We had one this morning in the UK - 4.2 on the Richter scale which is a monster for these parts.
Word has it that several packets of crumpets were knocked over and the lid came off a teapot. Sheer devastation.
