Never felt a tremor or a quake though Adelaide did have a slightly big one in 1954....

What's it actually feel like when there is an earthquake? Do they make any kind of sound when the ground is moving?

Just as Voxr said, definitely thunder like. This one in particular could have been a heavy storm if I weren't also watching my stuff fall over and feeling the instability beneath my chair.

Ah... thanks..

Just would feel unsettling to feel that for the first time..

I grew up in Califiornia, so I should be used to them.

Not anymore. After the 6.0 there was so many aftershocks that it gave me a nervous complex about them.

Like going to talk for some people (Class, Seminar, etc) when you only have 80% material and knowledge required for discussion and you hope people and masters don't ask about that 20% you should have known in the first place?

I'm also from CA so I've been in one major one and probably like 5 smaller ones.

The major one was the craziest one by far, everything would shake violently, then there was a 1 or 2 second break, then 2-3 secs of violent shaking, break, and so on for maybe 5 minutes or so.

They're horrible really, I don't know what else to say.

Years ago , a small eathquake happened where I lived ,  I was asleep and when I woke up everyone was freaking out .A neighbor was  telling people her home has been invaded by ghosts (earthquakes are really really rare.)

Anyway everybody had a cool story , except me , I slept like a baby .

There was a small one here in Baltimore a few years ago.

There is still a tiny crack in my ceiling.

Better it than me.

Yes, as well as a tornado. Both were equally terrifying experiences. Admittedly the earthquake was only like a 4 point something, but as a small child at the time it scared me.

I just found that the one today was 4.1. Is that the one you're talking about? Or did I miss one in between?

Weirdly enough, the UK had a 4.2 earthquake on the same day?

Most of ours are uber-small, although we had a 5.2 a couple years ago that was felt across the country?

I've never been awake for one.  Kinda sucks, 'cause the next day at school everyone's like "BRUH! Did you feeeeel it?"

They were just tiny ones that happen occasionally in my area. I'd hardly call them earthquakes.

Well I'm sorry for living in an area that's geologically stable.

Yes, there was an earthquake just over the river  from where I live, I didn't realise until I saw it on the news. At 4.2 it deeply scarred me, seeing garden furniture knocked over.

I want to say "don't worry". But I was in the 2004 tsunami and I felt the tiny earthquake before the waves hit. It was slow and light. Only noticed it because the trees were swaying against each other.

Then sea animals fled deeper in the sea.

The the cats and dogs went nuts.

The birds disappeared.

The elephants went completely bananas.

Seafront and for about a couple of kilometers. Many didn't make it. Either drowned, got smashed by cars, or got their necks sliced off by bits of glass and metal. The corpses then started to rot within the hour. Their face and body turned black and bile grow out, making it really hard to identify people.

Sorry, what was I talking about again?

I've been in two small ones in Greece and England (yeah even Europe get small ones from time to time)

Sadly I have lots of pictures of structures in Christchurch and Katmandu which suffered heavy damage in recent quakes. Its so sad to see so many structures I photographed damaged or destroyed beyond repair.  :(
