Yesterday I won a game of (online) chess against a friend. He sued me for regicide, the clever bastard.

I shouldn't be blamed, sometimes simply sacking those pesky Islam influenced cities during my Christian Crusades is simply the best way to go. The Pope likes it, it can't be that bad right?

Oh, snap! I can't even remember how many times I've executed badly injured, unconscious enemies in ArmA's Advanced Combat Environment mod - all three installments!

Wait, somebody's knocking at the door...

I've killed millions in my video games. I have many counts of genocide, thievery, extortion, poaching and illegal street racing. Why, I've shot down 1 million enemy pilots in Dynasty Warriors: Gundam Reborn alone. If you think about it, I've killed enough to fill the graveyard of an entire small country.

If they want me to stand trial, they are going to have to do it in my video games and they'll have to catch me there first.

Lunamaria approves.

My first reaction was that it is kinda hard to become a war criminal, in games, at least in shooters.

The reason is that the enemy always fight to the last man and last drop of blood. Always to the death. It's not like we're shooting anyone who is not shooting back, or isn't an immediate threat to our life.

So that would be my defense in Haag. I can't see why they wouldn't immediately drop the case?

My second reaction was the question why these virtual, supposed war crimes was more of a concern than all the virtual murders gamers have committed in non-war games?

My third reaction was the question if the Red Cross have considered Chess players? Not much prisoners taken.

****, I have to ask myself if I commit actual war crimes everday. I am legally obligated to do it. I don't need to worry about whether I did or not on a video game.

War crimes don't exist anyway. It's time we stop going by the Hague and the Geneva Convention. Against an enemy that blatantly and flagrantly disregards all concepts of humanization anyway. We'd be more effective at our job.

I've been verbally attacked by more than one person over our use of Drones. I'm not involved with the physical use of them, but my opinion is if they get the job done and keep the **** at bay and away from other cities and countries, use them, and use them to their full advantage. Collateral damage is acceptable.

Hell, there are things that you do in video games that are seemingly innocuous, yet can net you a nice little time in Ft. Leavenworth.

Did you know that firing a .50 cal HMG within 2 kilometers of a Civilian Occupied Settlement (COS) is a war crime? Did you know that firing a cartridge any larger than a 7.62x98mm at an enemy combatant is a war crime? And those are some of the more regular ones. There's others too, all sorts of BS when dealing with civilians on the battlefield (COB).

Seeing how we're not proclaimed good-doers in real life, when we save a world or a galaxy, it's somewhat a shock to the pineal gland, it forces us to come to senses to the real world.

I feel the need to go be a virtual warcriminal some more so the Red Cross and the usual gaming "journalist" rags (Polygon, Kotaku, etc.) can hate me more than they already do.

Hopefully General Dynamics or Lockheed Martin or somebody paid to have their products more prominently featured so I can support the evilllll arms industry while I commit virtual genocide.

I don't call myself a hero. you are talking to a person that has The Illusive Man's picture as his display picture and yes I am very whom and what he is.

thank you. in the most positive light, T.I.M. can be seen as an anti hero.  Regardless how we view and feel about Aliens, Humanity needs to stand strong regardless. that is why I am a Cerberus supporter.

It will be a sad day for humanity if a simple gamer is prosecuted for war crimes while people like Idi Amin weren't

The fact that this idea was even seriously brought up is sad enough for humanity already.
