In the past week I ended up pugging as Keeper, and as a reminder to never do that again the rest of the pug died fighting the Frost Dragon.

I decided I didn't want to lose. Used Treb as cover against wing flap, dodged High Dragon's spit, and basic attacked her from range. Dragonlings are a pain to fight as a keeper, but not lethal.

Trebuchet tactic is way easier to take on the High Dragon than trying to melee her. Her tornado wing flap attack does not work through cover, even the destructable kind, but trebuchets are guaranteed indestructable cover by design. Her dragonfire spit cannot penetrate the trebuchets, and they are linear in direction, so you may dodge these easily (much easier than dodging Horror spikes for sure).

It takes a long long time, but the High dragon is not willing to melee through the Trebuchet, and cannot flap her wings through them either. Stupid Pugs. Stupid High dragon. I'm glad it was frost, because otherwise the Dragon Staff would not have worked against the fire dragon, and does double vs frost. Eventually whittled down the Frost Dragon on Perilous, despite her putting her 20k guard up multiple times.

If you do end up being a ranged class being last against the dragon, feel free to abuse the Trebuchet to your advantage. So long as you're able to solo against dragonlings, you're able to solo against the High Dragon herself.

Stupid pugs. Will never keeper for pugs again.

First: EVERYONE is a PUG as soon as you enter a public match! I'm sick of the PUG-hate around here

Second: yes, there are terrible, stupid, horrible, [insert whatever curse you like] PUGs but call me lucky because for me pugging is alright (75% completion/success rate on perilous & threatening)

but yes: playing with friends is way more fun

Isabella's exploding bolts say otherwise. She has her hands are full... of daggers.

Although I'm trying to make friends connections on here, 99% of my games are still PUGS. Many are successful though some are not (75/25) ?

If you're lucky enough to have friends you can always run with and who are open to communication then lucky you.

I actually find routine pugs far more hard work.

Especially as a mage. The damage output is lousy so having to guide the newbies to victory by flattening everything that could possibly hurt them doesn't work too well at level 1.

Even with mighty Bane guiding them they still flatline on wave 5 and leave me to finish up, which takes ages with two low level spells (one if Necro as horror doesn't do damage) and some colourful language.

Anything other than a mage though I'm fine.

I tried to PUG threatening yesterday, but i was kicked out 4 times out of 6 games. after that i rage-quit and used my desperate move "Friend List" and from there i played happily for 5 hours.

So Moral of the Story:

Never trust PUGs, trust your Friend List!

I got kick voted by an angry keeper because I didn't revive him.

I was a level 8 necro on threatening. Surrounded by archers and Jedi what can I do?

The other two were 'over there' so they were no help.

Oh and it was laggy, and when Aunt Lagatha shows up that green revive bar starts lying. It says it's done but it isn't.

I left that lobby immediately after the inevitable wipe.

Nothing from pugs really surprise me anymore, I expect the worse and I get it. With dragon age sale going there's been a nice influx of new players in perilous, the only problem is they have no idea what they are doing.

So now would be the right time for me to make the transition, I guess.  That way, I can hope that folks will think I'm completely new and have some sort of semi-legit excuse for sucking.

PUGs are usually competent for me. They might not always be optimal but they play well and try hard. The biggest PUG problem remains the teams that half want to speed run and the other half want to clear all the doors.

PUGs are horrible. They deserve to rot in hell.

In a multiplayer match they are supposed to play the way I know is best. And what do they do?

The act like they have a mind on their own.

As a result they screw up over and over again.

So never play pugs!

I don't hate them, just the idiots that sometimes play in them.

Once the newbies grow wise or **** off and play something else all will be fine in randy land.

Plus Bane is far more effective on ransoms.

How did they actually die? The only time I've ever had a team wipe vs. the dragon was a laggy, barrierless game in which I was the last man standing and got killed by an instant spitball at almost melee range.

My greatest fear is pugs who fire my primed trebuchets at nothing. It's happened before and it'll happen again.

So now would be the right time for me to make the transition, I guess.  That way, I can hope that folks will think I'm completely new and have some sort of semi-legit excuse for sucking.

Be sure to use easy-to-obtain banner stuff for extra authenticity.

I have difficulties imagining that part with the daggers. I always think about my hands full with that well-endowed chest-piece. Luckily she turns her back to me when I play her. A wise gameplay decision of the devs for the male audience.

You know you can write off the team mates timing out when playing her - they are likely busy turning the cam and drooling over the front side.

in truth I've seen experienced players behaving like pugs.  they should know better.

look, new players need to good examples to follow.  be that for them.  speak on the mic, advise them (doesn't mean they'll listen, buy hey, you tried)

I do understand how pugs can be, and have had plenty of those experiences too.  Whenever I play a new game I watch other players to learn what to do and not to do.

I have a poster above the bed in my teenager bedroom with a half naked, glowing door, that says "Team Other Half".

I have a week in today and have only played pugs, when I can find one......Have had great success as a Keeper, like you we get out 85%+ of the time, last night we even moved up a level, I switched to my Archer as he is the highest level I have..15 or something, I honestly find we loose more vs Templars, that friggin thing in there can kill me with one hit, forget what he is called but he is in round five.

As we get better, at least in my experience in ME/MP, pugs can be fun, sure we carry a lot once you are good enough but that in itself makes the round a challenge, at least for me. And as they always said in ME, if you don't like PUGS, play with friends.

QFT, that is how I learned in ME and how I am learning in DA, I am a very good team player but someone has to show me the ropes.

Later Saturday, farm life doesn't leave me near the game time and shopping I need:)

There is a poster here, salt of the earth, Heroic Mass, we ran together later in ME, he showed a group of my friends and I how to run Platinum on ME, I later played quite a bit with his son who was also a good player. Mass always took the time to answer questions and make suggestions, my god we had some good rounds. Then a group of us posted during a weekend challenge, I think it was called insanity but you had to play Platinum, I can't tell you the dozens of players we put through and showed them the ropes, to me it's what made the game!!

Wtf, zone 4 cleared but D2D (died2dragon, it's so rare it needs it's own abbreviation)?

Ugh... soloing those dragonlings with a keeper... uuuuuugh....
