I don't have a lot of experience TBH but today I've found HOK and killing things as quickly as possible to be useful.

Out of curiosity, how much con do you have? Perilous dragon fireball initial damage sends me into the red. 2 ticks finish me off. I have a whopping 18 con. Also, I'm not sure if the willpower magic damage reduction affects dragon breath?

26/23/17 I do think that willpower might reduce it but i don't have a lot of that either.

Wow Texas did not know your numbers are so low, no wonder the dragon breath hard for you lol. You do really good for your level.

It does, but resist potions reduce it even more (resist belts & armor upgrades for mages too).

I'm not talking about good balanced party, mostly i'm talking about pug games where u must count on yourself.

Don't bring archer to perilous pugs until you're good enough to solo with it.  Archer's one of the more team dependent kits until you're able to outright solo with him.

my longshot has a habit of making 90 degree turns to go and hit enemies 30+ meters in another direction from the wall behind the group of enemies I was targetting.

You need to hard target with cycle target (yellow crosshairs). Soft target tends to change too much (white crosshairs). On KB&M, the default is tab or right clicking. I don't know what cycle target is on controllers for PS & XB. Console players want to chime in?

You press the right stick in on 360 to lock on. Pretty sure you flick the stick to change targets. I rarely use it, as long as something is hit I don't care. Filthy casul that I am.

I imagine it's the same on those new fangled contraptions and the PS3.

Watching PC gameplay the targeting system is much nicer for you guys, for console guys we have to click the right stick in and move the stick and hope that it goes to the right enemy, which 90% of the time it does not ;)

Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Actually sounds like the cycle target button (tab) here. It is kinda random. The soft targetting generally has a better chance of getting what I want most of the time, if I move toward them and rotate the camera to face them. . . but being ranged must really suck on console.

Can you even target enemies like the Dragon beyond normal basic attack distance? I heard you cannot. If we have something hard targetted, it is only a matter of line of sight and changes in angular velocity that enable or prevent active abilities of arrows to hit. Distance is effectively only limited by map size.

To some degree but not really, it's completely worthless past the basic attack distance you have to try and aim your character in a certain direction and hope the shot connects, which it won't.  ;)

Agreed.  It is pretty bad if there are more than 3 enemies in you LoS.  I also wish we could achieve the distance of targeting they can on PC.
