There is no solid surface to land the Mako on. It's a gas giant, atmosphere gets denser and denser, followed by a liquid layer due to pressure, then a  molten core made of heavier elements.

Ah, like the Mako would be bothered by such... inconveniences.

Actually, forget I said anything. Damn Mako could probably survive falling into a  black hole.

There are two kinds of planets: Thru and Nope planets.

Thru planets you can go right through.

And Nope planets because: "Nope you can't go through them."

I'd like to see worlds that feel more alien like Ilos did.  I mean I get that world's that support life need to have earthlike qualities but they can still be more alien.  Make a world that has some weird looking plants (like Felutia (sp?) from Star Wars).  Or if a planet that is in the life of a red dwarf star have an orange sky or something.  If there is a planet that is the home to an alien civlization give them some really weird looking architecture.

A galaxy rise:

I see that and all I hear in my head is "A Glorious Dawn." Which is always a good thing. Thank you for this :)

Planets with ruins of ancient civilizations.

City-planets Coruscant like

More Mars-like planets (red deserts)

If I have to say my favorite planets of ME were Feros, Noveria and Ilos.

One things that left me sad is that we will never know the Prothean homeworld. Why we didn't ask Javik about it???

Now that's another Stargate episode.

Maybe BioWare should get together and binge watch SG-1, Atlantis, and maybe Universe to get some ideas. :)

An arc in a Mass Effect game about being the technologically advanced alien visitors to a pre-spaceflight civilization would be fantastic. Benevolently intervene as a Paragon, stay as neutral as possible, or ruthlessly exploit superiority as Renegade. Probably would get weighed down by too many old sci-fi flick references though.

"Take me to your leader", "Shepard phone home", etc  :)

I actually like this idea....has good choices and outcome potential on a larger scale that can even span the course of trilogy games,,,,thumbs up for thinking this Sweaem :D

You know what would be cool is if we could not only go and see the strange alien planets but also 'hear' them:

I can see a certain planet having a high intensity EM field or something and it interfering with the players' radio signals.

I would love if Bioware brought back some of its exploratory maps elements like huge dark misty rainforests like Kashyyyk or underwater world like Manaan (which you have to admit, its Kahje!!!) or the vast barren desert of Tattoine (its good in SWTOR too). I thought travelling around Aite on Hammerhead is great and the Geth canon was wonderful. I don't really need a lot of square grid maps like in ME1.

I find STAR WARS planets generally way more interesting than any planets in Mass Effect. Maybe it's simply because STAR WARS is a classic (or because it came first and Mass Effect came second, having to live up to it), or maybe, and more likely, it's because all you really see in all of the Mass Effect trilogy are space stations. We never really explored terrains, ever (and the boring and repetitive sidequests in ME1 do not count, they were all the same).

So on that note, I'd like to see planets like the ones we got on KotOR. Korriban was a little boring, but Manaan (even though it's also a "station", not a space station though) Tatooine and Kashyyyk were really cool (even though Tatooine was not really a novelty, since it's in the movies). Other than that, I think they should make these places beautiful (even if some of them are treacherous), and add a lot of effects, both from the planet's surface side (hurricanes, earthquakes, etc...) and from the galaxy's side (maybe we could witness a supernova, or other effects from space, while exploring a planet). They should also let us explore the Solar System in full. It was sad not being able to explore the mysterious red spot of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, and all of our other neighbors in the original trilogy. Mars was there, but not quite. And then the Galaxy of Andromeda, which is probably where ME4 is heading to anyway. All of these would be interesting. And if they make us explore moons, please, don't make them as boring as Earth's moon, please! Make them like Yavin IV, or better.

They should also add interesting levels like KotOR had (and take the opportunity to add more effects to the Galaxy for us to witness during these missions, or the weather effects in planets), like when we were dressed in astronaut suits and walking around outside Malak's ship, or underwater in Manaan.

Ilos was my favourite planet in ME. Ancient ruins are always good.

Also, I'd love to explore a lush and beautiful jungle with weird alien plants in it that eat you for lunch.

Mad Max Fury Road has left me thirsting for intense desert storm planets with crazy, unnatural color filtering
mypv7FR.giftumblr_nobctyDM5s1u62kxvo1_500.gif

That aside, I really really wanted to see Palaven/Thessia in their proper glory, so the Andromeda ME4 news bummed me out.

If they're going for a slightly m ore open world exploration game, I hope they won't do what DA:I did and make it  99.9% wilderness. Exploring actual civilization settlements is what makes a universe feel alive more than anything, atleast to me, because you actually get to interact with society and their culture.

I would be so happy if there was a beautiful sci-fi metropolis to explore open-world style (like hop on a hover cab and fly to lower levels of the city, vice versa and more) but if the next game is going to be about exploring the wilderness of Andromeda then I guess I won't really see these things but who knows.

Somebody already said this, but it would be interesting if we got to see the inside of a gas giant. Stuff like the "Leviathan" teaser and "Jupiter Ascending" (I like that movie a whole bunch and I will defend it to anyone until the day I die) tickled those parts of my brain that go "Woooooow". The original ME also mentions something about there being artificial structures floating in the Jovian atmosphere - I held hopes that perhaps the subsequent installments would explore this further, yet none did, sadly. So far. Still holding out hope - I think something as bizarre as this would fit well with "discovering remnants of weird ancient civilization".

Something like this could easily be done by having us visit a facility that mines gases from the planet for fuel.

Well? Go ahead and tell us. What kind of planets do you want to explore in the next Mass Effect game?

I would like to explore a desert planet, like Tatooine from KotOR. I would also like to visit a planet that has a very dense forest. It would be pretty awesome if some planets have severe weather conditions. Maybe a sandstorm rolls through the desert map, or the forest map gets a torrential downpour.

Your turn.

It would be great to see some dynamic weather, instead of 'that planet where it always rains' or 'that planet where it always storms'. I'm also against entire planets with a single characteristic, though it makes sense in development terms of course.

As for what I'd like to see (along a variety of environments like deserts/ocean floors/forests/plains/mountains/ice caps and combinations of those with weird rocks/plants/lifeforms) would be a bit more exotic things here and there. I loved visiting the derelict reaper in the outer layers of a brown dwarf in ME2, getting through the Omega-4 relay, or seeing Klendagon I wish I could go there and see that rift up close. Instead of rather similar things that we have here I'd like to see unfamiliar stuff that makes you awe in terms of scale or strangeness.

Things that come to mind are a rogue planet out in interstellar space, a planet orbiting binary stars where one is feeding off the other, a base in the rings of a planet, etc.
