We're in Mass Effect land. The land where everything but logic and realism don't exist. Anything can happen here!

I think you're confusing ME with Dragon Age....  Fantasy genre is where all hacks who don't like know science go to write.

What I'm wondering is why people I've never played with or been in lobbies with think I'm going to accept their seemingly random FR.

I'll accept a FR if they make me laugh, and they swear in a comedy non-aggressive way, and don't mind the innuendo shenaniganizificationing, or boss me about as if I don't know how to play( I do know how to play, I'm just not that good :P). It's rare I send any unless its a friend of a friend or someone I already know from another platform.

I very rarely send out friend requests. I have to be in game with a person a few times or in a party with them and actually able to tolerate them. I generally get along with everyone but sometimes one friend doesn't mix with another and can lead to some pretty awkward situations.

I rarely sent out friend requests but they are usually to people that I keep happening to bump into whilst pugging and they are decent to play with. I do sometimes just get a friend request out of blue after playing just one match or just by entering a lobby. I ignore those friend requests.

I don't send them out unless it's to someone who I arranged it with on BSN.

If I get an unsolicited request I check N7 HQ before accepting them to see how many Fat Turian waves they have completed. If it is unsatisfactory, I reject them.

Racist.  :P

I don't reject non Drell, I just enlighten them to the error of their ways. You must enlighten the masses with the brilliance of the shining claw hammer.

Mass Effect isn't sci-fi either. Space opera perhaps, or future fantasy. Calling it science-fiction is an insult to real sci-fi. That doesn't mean it's bad though. It is pretty awesome.

It has that in common with Star Wars. That's not sci-fi either. Star Wars is both incredibly stupid and incredibly awesome.

Just don't think about how things work and enjoy.

it tried to be in most areas in ME1, with eezo and some of its properties (telekinesis) being the only really obvious contrivances. Then it threw most of that out of the window in 2 and went full retard in 3 in favour of dirty dozen in space and Michael Bay dramatics juxtaposed to gratuitious feels.

It's not quite Star Wars yet with everything being handwaved as "will of the force" or whatever, but it's getting close.

Yeah, pretty much that. Although I could ask a few questions about the technology in ME1 and ruin the game for you. ;)

This one time about a year ago, I played some lolbronze after promoting and after a few games with this one player (who was relatively new) sent me a friend request. I accepted for whatever reason, guess they thought I did so good and I was being nice. Couple days later I was in the middle of a gold match and they got on and sent me a game invite. I had to ignore it because of my current game and I figured it was bronze anyway so you know, whatever. The next day I noticed that they deleted me as their friend because I didn't play with them. It was funny.

no you can't because i'm not scientifically illiterate and know it's all based on bullshit. As long as it tries to stay within the confines of the contrived rules it sets for itself, I'm generally okay with it. It's pretty impossible to be a scifi nerd and not be depressed without such an outlook on these things.

I think Trey Parker and Matt Stone could make one hell of an enjoyable film out of such a concept.  I mean, if it had that tagline, you'd want to see it, right?!  Especially with the typo.  ;)

If they're fun or interesting.

And not weird about the whole grill thing.

Is your intention to enjoy playing or just meeting people? ._. I have been told by veteran online friends that some people(mostly girls) just "play" to know people. I thought they were wrong but they've been longe in online multiplayers than me ._.

I have never sent friend request unless its people I personally know. But I have gladly accepted requested from people Ive seen they are team players and have fun(opposite to bitter asses who always want to win and rant and blame others)

If you have an unicorn and no origin has been told about, or if the unicorn was made by gods: its fantasy.
If you have the same unicorn but they say it was created by genetic engineering then its sci fi, even if the unicorn can fly.

MassEffect is ScifCi the same way as StarTREK.
