"Isn't it so dumb how this thing totally isn't based on real science" is boring because it's not anything like a good critique. It's on the same level as "I liked it" or "It was bad," commentary that's devoid of insight.
It's the same intellectual dullardry that you said you hate, only couched in terms of showing that you're smarter than the people who actually made the text by pointing out their mistakes. Unless you're using that to springboard into saying something interesting, it doesn't actually foster conversation any more than the people you're condescending to. That may be why people aren't interested in talking to you about nerdy, boring stuff. (Or they might be people who wouldn't be interested in having a more involved conversation either, but making that assumption doesn't help anyone.)
I may of shat on my own point by turning the conversation towards stupid people. Perhaps that should be reserved for another conversation, but the main point I was trying to get accross is that just because something isn't interesting to you(not you specifically)- doesn't mean it's not interesting. See my example of fantasy sports earlier.
Regarding "isn't it dumb how this thing totally isn't based on real science" vs. "I like\hate it"- are not the same thing. One is an critique based on observation, the other is just a flat opinion based on nothing. You ironically, said something is boring without giving solid reasons is the exact tepid response I was arguing against.
You want to know what I think is going on? This isn't about me or my argument, it's about who you think I am representing. To answer your question...no, I don't think I am smarter than everyone else- just some people are stupid. Let's not dance around with that notion.
