Oh, are you a clairvoyant now?

If you had any knowledge of art, then you would know why a critique is more than an opinion.

I've explicitly quoted the statement I responded to. I haven't given an actual opinion one way or another about anything else.

You appear to be the clairvoyant. Not a good one clearly.

Nice overreaction there. It also wouldn't have if your friend was capable of minding his business from time to time.

Do you even listen to yourself? This is getting embarrassing. If you want a private conversation, perhaps you shouldn't hold it in a public forum, hm?

Don't think we didn't notice your "subtle" attempt at changing the topic.

The problem isn't wanting a private conversation. It's you jumping into a conversation loud and wrong every single time.

Looooooooool @ subtle attempt at changing a subject. If anything, I was keeping it going. You were the one too embarrassed or whatever to respond to my excellent (if I may so so myself) rebuttal.

Are you roleplaying? Are you trying to channel J. Peterman here? Because otherwise you don't make much sense.

I don't hate them because they're stupid, I hate that they shut down critique of art with conversation stagnating retort such as "BORING!", "NERDS!", or something dismissive.  If you don't have critique of something, then you either don't care or too dumb to be analytical.  I don't need to hear you announcing you're too cool to notice anything.  I'm not talking specifically only on work of fiction- but any art form- plays, poetry, musical lyrics, or even a painting.  If they have no opinion on something that's fine- just STFU.

Take for example people who play fantasy sports.  They discuss all sorts of ridiculous statistics to fortify their choices of players and such.  I think its uninteresting and shake my head at too, but I can fully appreciate someone's passion for it and/or knowledge of that particular arena of analysis.

"Isn't it so dumb how this thing totally isn't based on real science" is boring because it's not anything like a good critique. It's on the same level as "I liked it" or "It was bad," commentary that's devoid of insight.

It's the same intellectual dullardry that you said you hate, only couched in terms of showing that you're smarter than the people who actually made the text by pointing out their mistakes. Unless you're using that to springboard into saying something interesting, it doesn't actually foster conversation any more than the people you're condescending to. That may be why people aren't interested in talking to you about nerdy, boring stuff. (Or they might be people who wouldn't be interested in having a more involved conversation either, but making that assumption doesn't help anyone.)

Apparently, when people disagree and debate it's fair grounds to close a thread?  There hasn't been any name calling towards a member of BSN, so I don't see any warrant to close it.  Well... at least I haven't.  You're screaming fire before a match has been lit.

I may of shat on my own point by turning the conversation towards stupid people.  Perhaps that should be reserved for another conversation, but the main point I was trying to get accross is that just because something isn't interesting to you(not you specifically)- doesn't mean it's not interesting.  See my example of fantasy sports earlier.

Regarding "isn't it dumb how this thing totally isn't based on real science" vs. "I like\hate it"-  are not the same thing.  One is an critique based on observation, the other is just a flat opinion based on nothing.  You ironically, said something is boring without giving solid reasons is the exact tepid response I was arguing against.

You want to know what I think is going on?  This isn't about me or my argument, it's about who you think I am representing.  To answer your question...no, I don't think I am smarter than everyone else- just some people are stupid.  Let's not dance around with that notion.

Fair enough! I agree with that.

EDIT: Oh, I momentarily forgot that we're on the internet, and couldn't possibly have come to any kind of reasonable ending to an initial disagreement. So, uh, your mom's a goat and your dad's Hitler?

Oh I would agree there. I need people to be creative and lucid at the same time in their insults.

I can't reward every one that says they screwed my mom or tells me to go die in a fire with a FR.

The guy that started screaming "Stop reviving me you swamp donkey mother fucker!!!!" got a FR before the match even concluded.

Some of the ones you've posted are hilarious.

I wish I wasn't too retarded to operate a camera at times. I'm mildly kidding but if you've seen my solo screenshots you know I am an absolute fuckup with a camera in my hands.
